She said: "My real life is 90 percent contained in my house with my kids, who just think I'm weird. When we are at our best, we are just nutty. And the kids want to go out shopping to the market, but you've got 20 people behind you so you just can't," she said.

"But sometimes we try to sneak out - and sometimes for us the easiest thing to do is sneak out of the front door, because everybody is checking the back door. But you try not to live your life that way - it would drive you nuts."

Akshay Kumar says Canada is heaven on earth

Akshay Kumar says Canada is heaven on earthToronto, Dec 18 (IANS) Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, who was here Friday to promote his film "Tees Maar Khan", said he expected the film to repeat the success of his previous hits and called Canada a heaven on earth.

"What you are going to see in 'Tees Maar Khan' is total entertainment. It is a Bollywood masala movie which will appeal to everyone,'' said the actor. The film is due for release next week.

In the film, directed by Farah Khan and jointly produced by his wife Twinkle Khanna, Akshay plays a con man named Tabrez Mirza Khan, with Katrina in the role of his girlfriend Anya.

"I play the role of an uneducated con man who plans to rob a train containing 10,000 kg of antiques. The script is so good that all characters come along with me and I am conning all of them. I rob the train with their help but no one among them knows that they are helping me,'' said Akshay Kumar, rating Katrina as his favourite actress.

The actor credited Farah Khan with doing an excellent job of directing the film. "She did a great job. Because of its excellent script, the film has created new 'muhawara' (idiom) in dialogue,'' he said, reciting a few lines used in the film.

About his own role, he said, "I have been an entertainer for the past 22 years. I have done it in this film and will keep doing it in the future.''

Asked why he chooses Canada more than other countries for shooting and releasing his films, he said he has fallen in love with thsi country. "I love Canada since I did my first film here 17-18 yeas ago. I have been here hundreds of times, but every time I love coming here again. I tell people in India that if they want to see 'jannat' (heaven) on this planet, they should visit Canada,'' said the actor who is currently serving as a brand ambassador in India for the Canadian Tourism Commission.

The star, who finished shooting his first Hollywood film 'Break Away' here some time ago, said, "The film will be released in May-June. We have sold its distribution rights to Alliance Atlantis."

Shot in Toronto, the film revolves around Canada's national game ice hockey to address issues of cultural conflicts among new immigrants to this country.

Asked whether Bollywood standards were declining, he said, " No, Bollywood's standards are going up. While they used to release up to 500 prints, now these numbers are up to 2,500.''

He also expressed ignorance about his role in Deepa Mehta's proposed film "Komagata Maru". "I don't know anything about the film. Nobody has approached me.''

Asked to rate his favourite hero and heroine, he said, "I like watching Sanjeev Kumar...... and Katrina Kaif."

Sara Khan bags role in Ram Milayee JodiNew Delhi, Dec 18 (IANS) After being ousted from reality show "Bigg Boss 4", popular TV actress Sara Khan has bagged the lead role in Zee TV's "Ram Milayee Jodi". She will be replacing Priyal Gor to play Mona in the show.

The grapevine was abuzz that producer Rajita Sharma had been approaching several known faces to replace Priyal due to her alleged difficult attitude. And now she has finally signed on Sara.

Sara, whose claim to fame is Star Plus' "Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai", is excited about her new venture.

"It's a big opportunity to just come out of the reality show and bag a lead role in a prime-time show. I loved the script and the storyline is at a very interesting juncture," Sara said in a press statement.

"Ram Milayee Jodi" is a love story between Mona, a chirpy girl from a Punjabi family, and a Gujarati boy Anukalp. The show is about the clash of cultures in relationships.

Shah Rukh Khan too features in leaked US embassy cableNew Delhi/London, Dec 18 (IANS) Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and the threat by the Shiv Sena to ban screenings of his film "My Name is Khan" found mention in a US embassy cable that was leaked by WikiLeaks.

"My Name is Khan" is a 2010 movie made by Karan Johar in which Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol played the lead roles.

"The Shiv Sena had threatened to ban screenings of Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming movie, 'My Name is Khan', because Shah Rukh Khan publicly lamented the absence of Pakistani cricket players in India's professional cricket league for the coming season," says the cable dated Feb 22, 2010.

The cable posted in the Guardian newspaper said that Shiv Sena goons burnt posters of the movie and protested in front of his home, asking Khan to "move to Pakistan".

"Khan himself did not bid on any Pakistani players as co-owner of one of the frachises," it said.

While some theatre owners refrained from screening the film on its opening day due to security concerns, "a show of force by the police convinced theatres to roll out a full release" the next day.

"With protests and controversy generating far more international buzz than the typical Bollywood movie, Khan's new movie opened to packed audiences in Mumbai and elsewhere," it added.

Tron: Legacy Movie Review

Every few years a film comes whose look redefines and influences future films. "Tron" in 1982 was one such film that influenced an array of films including "Matrix". "Tron: Legacy", despite its flaws, may end up being one such film.

In the film, Sam Flynn's (Garrett Hedlund) father disappeared 20 years ago. When a page comes from his now defunct office, Sam goes to investigate. Just like in the first film, he is scanned, digitized and sucked into the world of computer grid.

He finally meets his father Kevin (Jeff Bridges) who's imprisoned and fights to rescue him, Quorra (Olivia Wilde) and the rest of the world, from his father's alter ego Clu (Jeff Bridges).

There are quite a few things that are not right with the film. Not enough explanation is given to many things forcing you not only to suspend disbelief, but to 'absolutely' suspend it. Yet, once you manage to do it, "Tron: Legacy" becomes a hugely entertaining fare.

Then there are the spectacular special effects. Those who see the film today would laugh at the shoddy work of the original, which was cutting-edge back then and inspired a host of films including "Matrix". The circle is complete when "Tron: Legacy" ends up being heavily inspired by the last two parts of the "Matrix" trilogy.

The spectacular visual effects and the scintillating, sleek background score by Daft Punk and sound design by Steve Boeddeker is bound to leave anyone spell-bound.

The metaphor of the film is also good. Like "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", Kevin and Clu are opposite alter egos. While Kevin is all for inclusion, his digital persona Clu is all for perfecting the system by destroying any anomaly. And Clu raises an army to further his purpose.

Real-life examples to illustrate this analogy are aplenty. The Fascist dictators to even democracies like the US, like Clu, believe in purging 'anomalies' with military might. The world has seen its fair share of Clu-like exclusionists.

Kevin is the opposite -- a Buddha-like messiah who sees the true miracle of creation, even the creation of anomalous programmes in a computer system.

Where the film does not score is the excessive suspension of disbelief that may make it jarring to the average viewer, especially one who has not seen the original. Yet, for the spectacular special effects and background score alone, the film deserves at least one watch.
