Raksha Bandhan festival importance and SMS wishes

Posted: 12 Aug 2011 10:48 PM PDT

The festival of 'Raksha Bandhan' is today celebrated across India by the brothers and sisters. The festival marks the promise of a brother to his sister to protect her for ever.

It is an ancient Vedic festival that is celebrated mostly by the Hindus and on the full moon day of the Shravan month of the Hindu calendar. Rakhi is considered as a sacred thread that is tied by the sister on the wrist of her brother, who gives a promise to protect her.

As per tradition the brother also gives a 'shagun' or a gift on the festival. Even the market will be filled with colorful and different types of 'Rakhis'. The festival is also a way to re-bond the relation between the brothers and sisters.

The festival is not only celebrated in India but also by the Indians residing abroad. For all those who are looking to wish their friends and families, here are a few SMS wishes to remember them on the occasion.

1. Near of far wherever u r,
My best wishes r with U,
Tum jiyo hazaron saal,
May success & joy be yours everyday,

2. God could not take care for the whole world
so he has given mothers to each family.
In the same way mother could not take care
for the whole part of our life, so she had given brothers.
Thanks for being my brother.
Happy Raksha Bandhan

3. I wish u “HAPPY RAKHI” and
I pray to God for ur prosperous life.
May you find all the delights of life,

Arvind Kejriwal says government not interested in talks for Lokpal Bill

Posted: 12 Aug 2011 10:26 PM PDT

Arvind Kejriwal, the India Against activist on Friday alleged the Indian government that they are no more interested to talk on the controversial Lokpal Bill. Kejriwal has said that the government is just pretending to hold talks on the matter.

The activist further alleged that the government is doing this just for the sake of publicity and are actually pretending to hold talks on the bill. Kejriwal has alleged that if the government was really interested in talking about the matter seriously, then they would have directly spoken to them instead of making statements in the media.

Home Minister P Chidambaram had said in a press conference that the government is ready to talk over the Lokpal bill issue but it is left for the activist Anna Hazare to decide on the matter. Kejriwal had responded after the Home Minister had issued the statement.

The India Against activist added that Hazare would respond only if there was any invitation from the centre. Meanwhile, Hazare and his team has announced a campaign to turn off the lights on 15th August from 8pm t0 9 pm to support his cause.
