Angels are God's messengers on Earth. We know that God is everywhere, but we also believe He created angels to assist us in our daily lives and to help us lead the lives He meant us to live. Our faith is in God... but we believe in the angels He sends to help us.Some fans consider them stories from the imaginations of authors and artists, while other fans consider them as taking place in an alternative fictional reality. However unlike fan fiction, overviews summarising their story, written early in the writing process, were 'approved' by both Fox and Joss Whedon (or his office), and the books were therefore later published as officially Buffy merchandise. Therefore, there is evidence for these comics to represent an (albeit incomplete) continuation of the Angel story.

Sometimes we come across people in our lives who we simply can't live without. I wrote this poem about my best friend in the whole wide world. She gave me hope when I was hopeless, and she was always there for me. It didn't matter to me what others thought of her, because she was my friend and that's all that mattered.Life works in mysterious ways and for Lorry Green and Katie Kelly, their ability to put friendship before business has allowed life to come around full circle in a way that should prove beneficial, not only for them, but for anyone in Lake Stevens who desires an up scale, down town salon experience without the down town commute.

Earlier this year, Bath Phil and Jason Thornton generated a great deal of regional and national interest when they invited the Romanian Moldovan singer Radu Marian, a natural castrato, to perform a concert in honour of Venanzio Rauzzini, one of Bath's most famous residents. Rauzzini was a favourite of Mozart's and a musical force of nature in Bath in his lifetime, but not often heard of today  however the large and enthusiastic audience in Bath Abbey on 15th April went some way to correcting that.

The last time I played against them I scored," recalled Orozco Fiscal, on loan to the Union from Mexican First Division side San Luis FC. "It was off a corner and they went to clear it. We won the ball back and a cross came in from the right side. I split two defenders and headed it in.

This marks the second trip to Central America this month. Sounders FC secured a place in Group C by drawing, 1-1, in a preliminary round game against Metapan in San Salvador on August 3. Three of the first four group games are on the road. Marathon comes to Seattle September 29.

The team is also hosting a Referee Night that allows area soccer officials to take part in a pre-game question and answer session with the referee assessor, a tailgate leading up to kickoff and a post-game question and answer with the match referee. The package is $30 and includes a stadium reserved ticket.

hivas USA defender Mariano Trujillo visited the Padres Tienda de Beisbol" in the Plaza Rio Mall in Tijuana on Monday, signing autographs for the gathered crowd before taking the bus with Padres fans to last night's game at PETCO Park, a 4-2 win for San Diego. The Chivas USA player is one of many Mexican or Mexican-American players on the team, and will be facing off against Guadalajara next Tuesday, September 14 at PETCO Park in the second-ever ChivaClásico. The New England Revolution are an American soccer club based in Foxborough, Massachusetts, that participates in Major League Soccer. The club is owned by Robert Kraft, who also owns the New England Patriots of the National Football League. The name "Revolution" refers to the New England region's involvement in the American Revolution. The Revs currently play their home matches at Gillette Stadium. The club played their home games at the adjacent and now-demolished Foxboro Stadium, during the 1996 through 2001 seasons. The Revs hold the distinction of being the only original MLS team to have every league game in its history televised.

While we are all enjoying the "Blackpool story" in the EPL, there's another good story brewing in the Npower (yeesh) Championship. No, it doesn't involve Derby County. After their abysmal showing in the EPL they've got their hands full just avoiding the drop into League One. No, it's QPR! In the early 1990s this club finished 8th in the EPL, but after that came relegation, financial problems, and all that goes with them. In the last three or four years, however, the club has been under new ownership, continues to get its financial house in order, and has assembled a roster of players with EPL and international experience. Fun Fact.

Perhaps depleted by another failed weight cut, Alves was never in the fight. Fitch delivered three takedowns in the first round, four more in the second and another in the third. In his first appearance in more than a year, Alves failed in his attempt to avenge a 2006 defeat to the Fort Wayne, Ind., native, who smothered him with his oppressive top game.Overheard in the corner telling his trainers Alves was "weak in the clinch," Fitch absorbed almost no damage, as he went the distance for the eighth consecutive time and secured a second crack at the UFO welterweight crown.

Guida fell behind early, as dos Anjos peppered him with punches and inside leg kicks. However, Guida did connect to dos Anjos' jaw during an exchange, which likely led to his eventual submission.Guida turned the tide in Round 2, as he secured his first takedown, controlled the last half of the round from top position and neutralized dos Anjos with ground-and-pound. In between rounds, concern over the injury became evident in dos Anjos' corner.Backed by the Jackson's Mixed Martial Arts team in Albuquerque, N.M., Guida again took down dos Anjos in the third round. He moved to half guard and applied pressure to the Brazilian's neck and head, forcing the tapout.

Nelson needed every ounce of his fortitude to survive the first five minutes. "The Ultimate Fighter" Season 10 winner went down twice to uppercuts from dos Santos and appeared close to being finished more than once. He did not go away, however, and pressed the Brazilian deeper into the fight. Dos Santos turned his attention to Nelson's body late in the match and gradually wore down the portly heavyweight with strikes. Even so, Nelson won the admiration of dos Santos in defeat, his first inside the Octagon.

Silva's best offense in the fight came in the 4th round when he came out and stunned the challenger with a barrage of strikes and took top position after a failed takedown attempt by Sonnen. But Sonnen quickly reversed the position and put Silva on his back and continued to pound Silva with strikes for the rest of the round. It had looked like all hope had been lost for 'The Spider' to retain his championship.

Matt Hughes (45-7) showed that he still has some relevance left in the welterweight division by defeating Renzo Gracie protege Ricardo Almeida (12-4). Hughes managed to drop Almeida with a left hook halfway through the first round. With Almeida down, Hughes quickly capitalized and put Almeida in a front head lock anaconda choke. Almeida passed out from the choke, giving Hughes the win at 3:15 into the first round. Its Hughes 4th win over a member of the Gracie team and he proved that he can still win big fights against welterweight contenders.

Not sure who UFC would put Hughes in with next time, maybe Dennis Hallman (42-13-2) who has two submission wins over Hughes and defeated Ben Saunders on the prelims of this same card. Finally, Clay Guida (27-11) picked up a 3rd round submission win over Rafael dos Anjos (14-5). Guida had broken dos Anjos jaw earlier in the fight apparently and dos Anjos continued to fight through the pain, until Guida took him down and pushed his shoulder into dos Anjos jaw forcing the Brazilian to submit to due to the pain. Up until then it was quite an entertaining fight that appeared to have dos Anjos winning by out striking Guida.

Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival Stanley Race | Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival Celebration | Plans And Greetings With Sms

Posted: 07 Sep 2010 10:29 PM PDT

International renowned progressive rock band The  band integrates an amplified "erhu" a two-string spike fiddle used in Chinese classical and folk music, into an instrumental progressive rock sound. Part of the new-fusion rock movement, The HSU-NAMI band redefines the 1960's and 1970's fusion rock sound. His music was featured in the 2008 summer Olympics in Beijing.

The real highlight of the festival is the fierce-looking dragon boats racing in a lively, vibrant spectacle. Teams race the elaborately decorated dragon boats to the beat of heavy drums. The special boats, which measure more than 10 metres, have ornately carved and painted dragon heads and tails, and each carries a crew of 20-22 paddlers.

The Dragon Boat Festival also known as Tuen Ng Festival) and is one of the most exciting sports you will ever see in Hong Kong. It is immensely popular in Hong Kong and attracts teams from all walks of life, including traditional fishermen. The races are held every year at locations throughout Hong Kong. The main races will be held on the Tuen Ng Festival Day, which falls on 16 Jun this year. Join the locals for a day at the races and you'll see why this is a must-attend event.

The past years teams have participated from corporate Atlanta and from local organizations, churches, and colleges. A few teams which have participated include, AJC International, AT&T, Troutman Sanders LLP, Holder Construction, The Home Depot, Merrill Lynch, United Commercial Bank, Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club, National Association of Chinese Americans, Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, Kennesaw State University, Emory, University of Georgia, Agnes Scott, Reinhardt, and Perimeter College. There are a host of Breast Cancer Survivor (BCS) teams from throughout the United States.

The savory ones are made of glutinous rice, fresh meat, salted meat or ham. Sweet ones are made of glutinous rice, bean paste, dates' paste and honey. he modern version you found in Hong Kong is slight different now. The savory ones may have peanuts or green bean or meet and ham and they all have a salty egg yolk in it. The sweet ones have red bean paste or lotus seed paste inside. There are basically savory or sweet rice dumplings. Each family made lots of dumplings so that there are plenty for themselves, for relatives, friends and teachers.

For the local Fishermen this day is perhaps the most important celebration each year, even more than the Chinese New Year is. It's not only honoring the happenings around Qu Yuan, who was a beloved minister and poet, drowning himself during the Warring States Period after the kingdom of Chu lost the war against the Chin in ancient China. No, not only that, it's also the simple tradition of families coming together to socialize while enjoying the exciting and sportive dragon boat battle against each other.

"The New Christian Year" (1941) and "The Passion of Christ: Being the Gospel Narrative of the Passion with Short Passages Taken from the Saints and Doctors of the Church" (1939), both chosen by Charles Williams, an English poet, novelist, theologian, literary critic, and teacher. Charles Walter Stansby Williams was most often associated with the Inklings (a group of christian writers including J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis), Williams was also cited as a major influence on W.H. Auden's conversion to christianity and he was a peer and friend of T.S. Eliot, Dorothy Sayers and Evelyn Underhill.

These devotionals collect writings from throughout the history of christian thought. His choices were novel at the time, referencing Kierkegaard just as his translations were appearing in english print (Williams helped edit the first translations in England) and drawing upon the little known sermons of the poet John Donne. For each day of the Church year (starting in Advent), quotes will be posted as they appeared in the 1941 edition of "The New Christian Year". They are categorized by the source on the left, so that readers can read more from each author.

New Year's tradition dictates that it is a time for making resolutions and otherwise setting goals for the upcoming New Year. Perhaps one of your goals this coming year is to learn how to bake? Maybe it is to bake new items? Or it could be to celebrate more with your friends. Whatever your culinary goals are this year you can make them a little sweeter to swallow by whipping up a cake.

Once all of your ingredients are assembled, preheat the oven to 350°F and then lightly grease a 9 x 13 inch square cake pan. Proceed by taking a large bowl and whisking together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices. Make a well in the center and add the orange juice, oil, honey, sugars, coffee, eggs, vanilla, and rye or whiskey.

The worst case scenario is that Murabak's son Gamal will be the next president. Gamal Mubarak is only 47, and rumor has it he's not a very strong personality and would be easily dominated and manipulated by the Moslem Brotherhood, which has been transformed into a regular political party with seats in the Egyptian parliament, much like Hizbullah has in Lebanon.

Crude The Real Price Of Oil Shipping | Crude The Real Price Of Oil Dashboard Web Site | Petroleum

Posted: 07 Sep 2010 10:08 PM PDT

Some vehicle manufacturers are passing some price increases on to consumers, Lopes says. But, on the most part, they try to avoid that, of course, given the very competitive market. It's not a clear translation for us from additional raw material costs to end higher cost for consumers.

Around 800 tons of oil is estimated to have spilled into the sea. The oil spill has hit shipping companies the hardest as ship movement to and from the ports of Mumbai and JNPT had been suspended. These two ports handle 60 percent of India's container traffic.

The U.S. petroleum industry's price was heavily regulated through production or price controls throughout much of the twentieth century. In the post World War II era U.S. oil prices at the wellhead averaged $26.64 per barrel adjusted for inflation to 2008 dollars. In the absence of price controls, the U.S. price would have tracked the world price averaging $28.68. Over the same post war period the median for the domestic and the adjusted world price of crude oil was $19.60 in 2008 prices. That means that only fifty percent of the time from 1947 to 2008 have oil prices exceeded $19.60 per barrel.

After a bit we said we can't live here anymore and we had to relocate. About a decade passed. I met my wife. She got pregnant and was drinking water that we didn't know was contaminated. My son was born but didn't grow well. He died at just 6 months. I took him to a hospital in Quito but they couldn't do anything.

The Los Angeles Times argued in an editorial that forcing him to relinquish the footage turns the point of journalistic access on its head, If journalists must reveal what they learn but do not publish from those sources they cultivate most carefully, then sources will keep them at arms' length. This nation is better off because Upton Sinclair was able to insinuate himself into Chicago's meatpacking plants, it will be better again if Berlinger prevails on appeal. And it will be better still when Congress passes a federal shield law that protects journalists and their sources.

The stress-tests report really spooked the markets and has caused a good deal of risk aversion. We saw Europe sell off, we saw money piling into safer assets, including the U.S. dollar, said Matt Smith, commodity analyst at Summit Energy in Louisville, Ky. Hence, we are seeing crude selling off. It's been a flight to safety.

Christmas Wishes | Christmas Celebrations | Christmas With Santas

Posted: 07 Sep 2010 09:56 PM PDT

Christmas marks the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, but since then, numerous other traditions have been mixed with the originals. This website takes you to the history of the original traditions and gives you the background of the news ones as well.

Every year more than 400 million people celebrate Xmas around the world -- that makes Xmas one of the world's biggest religious and commercial festivities. In approximately year 300 A.D., the birthday of Jesus was determined to be on December 25, the day that has been celebrated from then till this very day. The celebration on the 25th of December starts with Christmas Eve, the evening of December 24.
Christmas is also a fascinating miscellany of traditions: one that combines pre-Christian pagan rituals with modern traditions. Every family that celebrates Christmas has its own customs--some surprisingly universal, others entirely unique--but all comfortably familiar in their seeming antiquity.

In this article, we'll learn about the history of Christmas from its pagan roots to its modern incarnation as a shopping blitz.

The first evidence of the feast is from Egypt. About A.D. 200, Clement of Alexandria (Stromata I.21) says that certain Egyptian theologians "over curiously" assign, not the year alone, but the day of Christ's birth, placing it on 25 Pachon (20 May) in the twenty-eighth year of Augustus. [Ideler (Chron., II, 397, n.) thought they did this believing that the ninth month, in which Christ was born, was the ninth of their own calendar.] Others reached the date of 24 or 25 Pharmuthi (19 or 20 April). With Clement's evidence may be mentioned the "De paschæ computus", written in 243 and falsely ascribed to Cyprian (P.L., IV, 963 sqq.), which places Christ's birth on 28 March, because on that day the material sun was created. But Lupi has shown (Zaccaria, Dissertazioni ecc. del p. A.M. Lupi, Faenza, 1785, p. 219) that there is no month in the year to which respectable authorities have not assigned Christ's birth. Clement, however, also tells us that the Basilidians celebrated the Epiphany, and with it, probably, the Nativity, on 15 or 11 Tybi (10 or 6 January). At any rate this double commemoration became popular, partly because the apparition to the shepherds was considered as one manifestation of Christ's glory, and was added to the greater manifestations celebrated on 6 January; partly because at the baptism-manifestation many codices (e.g. Codex Bezæ) wrongly give the Divine words as sou ei ho houios mou ho agapetos, ego semeron gegenneka se (Thou art my beloved Son, this day have I begotten thee) in lieu of en soi eudokesa (in thee I am well pleased), read in Luke 3:22. Abraham Ecchelensis (Labbe, II, 402) quotes the Constitutions of the Alexandrian Church for a dies Nativitatis et Epiphaniæ in Nicæan times; Epiphanius (Hær., li, ed. Dindorf, 1860, II, 483) quotes an extraordinary semi-Gnostic ceremony at Alexandria in which, on the night of 5-6 January, a cross-stamped Korê was carried in procession round a crypt, to the chant, "Today at this hour Korê gave birth to the Eternal"; John Cassian records in his "Collations" (X, 2 in P.L., XLIX, 820), written 418-427, that the Egyptian monasteries still observe the "ancient custom"; but on 29 Choiak (25 December) and 1 January, 433, Paul of Emesa preached before Cyril of Alexandria, and his sermons (see Mansi, IV, 293; appendix to Act. Conc. Eph.) show that the December celebration was then firmly established there, and calendars prove its permanence. The December feast therefore reached Egypt between 427 and 433.
At Rome the earliest evidence is in the Philocalian Calendar (P.L., XIII, 675; it can be seen as a whole in J. Strzygowski, Kalenderbilder des Chron. von Jahre 354, Berlin, 1888), compiled in 354, which contains three important entries. In the civil calendar 25 December is marked "Natalis Invicti". In the "Depositio Martyrum" a list of Roman or early and universally venerated martyrs, under 25 December is found "VIII kal. ian. natus Christus in Betleem Iudeæ". On "VIII kal. mart." (22 February) is also mentioned St. Peter's Chair. In the list of consuls are four anomalous ecclesiastical entries: the birth and death days of Christ, the entry into Rome, and martyrdom of Saints Peter and Paul. The significant entry is "Chr. Cæsare et Paulo sat. XIII. hoc. cons. Dns. ihs. XPC natus est VIII Kal. ian. d. ven. luna XV," i.e. during the consulship of (Augustus) Cæsar and Paulus Our Lord Jesus Christ was born on the eighth before the calends of January (25 December), a Friday, the fourteenth day of the moon. The details clash with tradition and possibility. The epact, here XIII, is normally XI; the year is A.U.C. 754, a date first suggested two centuries later; in no year between 751 and 754 could 25 December fall on a Friday; tradition is constant in placing Christ's birth on Wednesday. . The civil calendar alone was not added to, as it was useless after the abandonment of pagan festivals. So, even if the "Depositio Martyrum" dates, as is probable, from 336, it is not clear that the calendar contains evidence earlier than Philocalus himself, i.e. 354, unless indeed pre-existing popular celebration must be assumed to render possible this official recognition. Were the Chalki manuscript of Hippolytus genuine, evidence for the December feast would exist as early as c. 205. The relevant passage [which exists in the Chigi manuscript Without the bracketed words and is always so quoted before George Syncellus (c. 1000)] runs:

He gar prote parousia tou kyriou hemon he ensarkos [en he gegennetai] en Bethleem, egeneto [pro okto kalandon ianouarion hemera tetradi] Basileuontos Augoustou [tessarakoston kai deuteron etos, apo de Adam] pentakischiliosto kai pentakosiosto etei epathen de triakosto trito [pro okto kalandon aprilion, hemera paraskeun, oktokaidekato etei Tiberiou Kaisaros, hypateuontos Hrouphou kai Hroubellionos. — (Comm. In Dan., iv, 23; Brotke; 19)
On Christmas eve, Churches are packed for the midnight or vigil-mass services. The choirs sing very special hymns. After the vigil-mass, in some places, there are fireworks which help celebrate the start of Bara Din. People dance, exchange presents and enjoy the special night.

The spiegeltents, along with chocolate and Tintin, are one of Belgium's great contributions to world culture. They began to appear around the turn of the 20th century as portable dance halls that would pop up overnight in pre-war fields in Flanders. They have enjoyed something of a revival on the international festival circuit in recent years, no doubt partly because of their suitability for racy cabaret and burlesque shows.

Morello later said that Commerford actually told his bandmates about his plan before he actually did it. Morello and frontman Zack de la Rocha both discouraged Commerford from doing it, but Michael Moore who had directed the video for Rage's "Sleep Now in the Fire, which was also nominated for Best Rock Video told him, Timmy, follow your heart. So we can thank the director of Bowling for Columbine and Farenheit 9/11 for one of the strangest and best VMA moments of all time.

With new found humility who am I to run on stage, I would never ever again in a million years do that. Sorry to let you down. Beyonce didn't need that MTV didn't need that and Taylor and her family, friends and fans definitely didn't want or need that.

The rumored nominations are obtained from a BreatheHeavy member who claims as the one working at MTV. The source on the publication claims further that the official site MTV with all the nominees and information to be released at the weekend.

Speaking In Tongues In Christianity | Speaking In Tongues Phenomena | Different Interpretations

Posted: 07 Sep 2010 02:37 AM PDT

They with all the talk about speaking in tongues, few understand what it's all about. It is the least understood subject among believers. People will be surprise to find that the Bible mentions speaking in tongues thirty-five times. That is a lot, so this subject should not be cast lightly aside as unimportant to the Church. God does not fill His book with things of minor importance.

Speaking in tongues by Christians first occurred during Pentecost. Luke records the account in the book of Acts. Fifty days after Christ's crucifixion, a group of believers were gathered in Jerusalem at a room near the temple. Jesus had "commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, Many Jews that had traveled far were also there to celebrate the traditional festival of Pentecost. It is with this backdrop that Luke records what happened.

There seems to be three divisions in the use of tongues, First, a private prayer language that is not interpreted; second, a language that is interpreted this defines proper usage in the Christian congregation, and third, missionary context that is, it appears in the context of evangelism where people in the New Testament are presenting the gospel.

The images, appearing in the current issue of the journal Psychiatry Research, Neuroimaging, pinpoint the most active areas of the brain. The images are the first of their kind taken during this spoken religious practice, which has roots in the Old and New Testaments and in Pentecostal churches established in the early 1900s. The women in the study were healthy, active churchgoers.

Although the phenomenon of tongues plays a large role in the lives of many tens of millions of conservative Christians, little attention has been paid to it by the scientific community. It is also essentially ignored or looked upon with suspicion by many other Christians. I shared this with Ken and other members of the Fellowship and it seemed a normal part of Christian experience to them, so they prayed with me and laid hands on me. At that moment, and without fanfare, I just knew and accepted that I had received God's Holy Spirit in a charismatic sense in my heart. I didn't suddenly see a vision or speak in tongues or anything. It was simply an acceptance in faith in my heart.

The following spring I found myself walking in the hills above Kilmartin, with the Hebrides sparkling over the waters to the west, and the day so full of beauty and life - and I was filled with a longing and readiness for yet more of God's presence in my life. I remembered the words in Romans about "all creation waiting on tiptoe for the sons and daughters to come into their own" and my heart said, Yes, this is right and there is so much beauty and grace in God and all his creation - even me. By this time I was aware of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and the way God wanted, longed, to come upon us if we wanted Him, and fill us in a way which would bring us yet more alive in the life of His wonderful Holy Spirit.

Biography George Eastman's | Stroy Of George Eastman's | Ingenious Man

He was a high school dropout, judged "not especially gifted" when measured against the academic standards of the day. He was poor, but even as a young man, he took it upon himself to support his widowed mother and two sisters, one of whom was severely handicapped. He began his business career as a 14-year old office boy in an insurance company and followed that with work as a clerk in a local bank.He was George Eastman, and his ability to overcome financial adversity, his gift for organization and management, and his lively and inventive mind made him a successful entrepreneur by his mid-twenties, and enabled him to direct his Eastman Kodak Company to the forefront of American industry. The youngest of three children, George Eastman was born to Maria Kilbourn and George Washington Eastman on July 12, 1854 in the village of Waterville, some 20 miles southwest of Utica, in upstate New York. The house on the old Eastman homestead, where his father was born and where George spent his early years, has since been moved to the Genesee Country Museum in Mumford, N.Y., outside of Rochester. When George was five years old, his father moved the family to Rochester. There the elder Eastman devoted his energy to establishing Eastman Commercial College. Then tragedy struck. George's father died, the college failed and the family became financially distressed.
George continued school until he was 14. Then, forced by family circumstances, he had to find employment.

His first job, as a messenger boy with an insurance firm, paid $3 a week. A year later, he became office boy for another insurance firm. Through his own initiative, he soon took charge of policy filing and even wrote policies. His pay increased to $5 per week.
But, even with that increase, his income was not enough to meet family expenses. He studied accounting at home evenings to get a better paying job.
In 1874, after five years in the insurance business, he was hired as a junior clerk at the Rochester Savings Bank. His salary tripled, to more than $15 a week.
Eastman did not make the Santo Domingo trip. But he did become completely absorbed in photography and sought to simplify the complicated process.

He read in British magazines that photographers were making their own gelatin emulsions. Plates coated with this emulsion remained sensitive after they were dry and could be exposed at leisure. Using a formula taken from one of these British journals, Eastman began making gelatin emulsions.
He worked at the bank during the day and experimented at home in his mother's kitchen at night. His mother said that some nights Eastman was so tired he couldn't undress, but slept on a blanket on the floor beside the kitchen stove.
After three years of photographic experiments, Eastman had a formula that worked. By 1880, he had not only invented a dry plate formula, but had patented a machine for preparing large numbers of the plates.
"The idea gradually dawned on me," he later said, "that what we were doing was not merely making dry plates, but that we were starting out to make photography an everyday affair." Or as he described it more succinctly "to make the camera as convenient as the pencil."
Eastman's experiments were directed to the use of a lighter and more flexible support than glass. His first approach was to coat the photographic emulsion on paper and then load the paper in a roll holder. The holder was used in view cameras in place of the holders for glass plates.
The first film advertisements in 1885 stated that "shortly there will be introduced a new sensitive film which it is believed will prove an economical and convenient substitute for glass dry plates both for outdoor and studio work."
This system of photography using roll holders was immediately successful. However, paper was not entirely satisfactory as a carrier for the emulsion because the grain of the paper was likely to be reproduced in the photo.
Eastman's solution was to coat the paper with a layer of plain, soluble gelatin, and then with a layer of insoluble light-sensitive gelatin. After exposure and development, the gelatin bearing the image was stripped from the paper, transferred to a sheet of clear gelatin, and varnished with collodion -- a cellulose solution that forms a tough, flexible film.
Eastman's faith in the importance of advertising, both to the company and to the public, was unbounded. The very first Kodak products were advertised in leading papers and periodicals of the day -- with ads written by Eastman himself.
Eastman coined the slogan, "you press the button, we do the rest," when he introduced the Kodak camera in 1888 and within a year, it became a well-known phrase. Later, with advertising managers and agencies carrying out his ideas, magazines, newspapers, displays and billboards bore the Kodak banner.
Space was taken at world expositions, and the "Kodak Girl," with the style of her clothes and the camera she carried changing every year, smiled engagingly at photographers everywhere. In 1897, the word "Kodak" sparkled from an electric sign on London's Trafalgar Square -- one of the first such signs to be used in advertising.
George Eastman wanted to simplify photography and make it available to everyone, not just trained photographers. In 1883, Eastman announced the invention of photographic film in rolls. Kodak the company was born in 1888 when the first Kodak camera entered the market. Pre-loaded with enough film for 100 exposures, the Kodak camera could easily be carried and handheld during its operation. After the film was exposed (all the shots taken), the whole camera was returned to the Kodak company in Rochester, New York, where the film was developed, prints were made, new photographic film was inserted, and then the camera and prints were returned to the customer.
George Eastman was one of the first American industrialists to employ a full-time research scientist. Together with his associate, Eastman perfected the first commercial transparent roll film which made possible Thomas Edison's
He was born in Waterville, New York, and was self-educated.  In 1884 Eastman patented the first film in roll form to prove practicable; in 1888 he perfected the Kodak camera, the first camera designed specifically for roll film.  In 1892 he established the Eastman Kodak Company, at Rochester, New York, one of the first firms to mass-produce standardized photography equipment.   This company also manufactured the flexible transparent film, devised by Eastman in 1889, which proved vital to the subsequent development of the motion picture industry.
Eastman was associated with the company in an administrative and an executive capacity until his death and contributed much to the development of its notable research facilities.  He was also one of theoutstandingv philanthropists of his time, donating more than $75 million to various projects.  Notable among his contributions were a gift to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and endowments for the establishment of the Eastman School of Music in 1918 and a school of medicine and dentistry in 1921 at the University of Rochester.

The danger, adventure and hope they find on board the Destiny will reveal the heroes and villains among them.

This is just the teenage Stargate 200 parody combined with Battlestar. Adopting the Monkey-Cam photography isn't Avant Gard, it's just cheap retread film school project baloney. The camera work alone is reason enough to pass on this galactic mess of a television show.Instead of being some breakthrough the producers were counting on to continue the franchise it quickly has become an expensive flop, propped up only by a few overly-generous fan-sites and constant PR from the studio machine.

Stargate Universe is much more mature than the tho other series: it will for sure mark the Stargate franchise for the best. People Moko Maori | Freindly moko Dolphine | Guidence moko people

The traditional form of ta moko was practised by men who were both skilled artists and religious ritual experts called tohunga. A woman's moko, which covered the chin and lips, could take one or two days to complete. A man's moko, which covered the whole face, was done in stages over several years.
The man pictured here is a Maori from Aotearoa (the Maori word for New Zealand). The marks on his face are called ta moko. Each individual's ta moko is unique and sacred.

The traditional way of applying ta moko to the face was to dip a narrow blade in black pigment and then tap the blade with a mallet to chisel deep incisions into the skin.Keeping up with friends can be hard work - but not on MOKO. The bone chisels used for tattooing can be found in archaeological sites of various ages in NewZealan as well as in some early Eastern Polynesian sites. Although the Māori practiced tattooing, there is no evidence that the Morioripeople did.
In New Zealand It is in the early sites that the widest chisel blades are found, and this lends evidence to the theory that there was possibly a preference towards rectilinear tattoo patterns in earlier times.
The head was considered the most sacred part of the body, and because tattooing caused blood to run the tattoo craftsmen, or tohunga-ta-oko, were very tapu persons. All high-ranking Māori were tattooed, and those who went without tattoos were seen as persons of no social status.
Tattooing commenced at puberty, accompanied by many rites and rituals. In addition to making a warrior attractive to women, the tattoo practice marked both rites of passage and important events in a person's life.
There were certain prohibitions during the tattooing process, and for the facial tattoo in particular sexual intimacy and the eating of solid foods were prohibited. In order to overcome this, liquid food and water was drained into a wooden funnel, to ensure that no contaminating product came into contact with the swollen skin. This was also the only way the tattooed person could eat until his or her wounds healed.
The full faced tattoo was very time consuming, and a good tattoo craftsman would carefully study a person's bone structure before commencing his art.
The tattoo instrument was a bone chisel, either with a serrated or an extremely sharp straight edge. The first stage of the tattoo commenced with the graving of deep cuts into the skin. Next, a chisel was dipped into a sooty type pigment such as burnt Kauri gum or burnt vegetable caterpillars, and then tapped into the skin.
It was an extremely painful and long process, and often leaves from the native Karaka tree were placed over the swollen tattoo cuts to hasten the healing process. Wars were frequent, and the warriors had little time for recuperation. During the tattooing process, flute music and chant poems were performed to help soothe the pain.
Although the tattoos were mainly facial, the North Auckland warriors included swirling double spirals on both buttocks, often leading down their legs until the knee.

Until the early twentieth century when it was still widely practised, there were many customs associated with moko. Records of these customs have been lost as older generations of Maori people have died. This means there are some things about early ta moko that are not known. For example, some people argue that moko was only worn by people of high status, whilst others say most Maori men and women wore it.People have described wearing moko as like having your name written on your face in beautiful writing. At one time, each person's moko was different. In the nineteenth century some chiefs drew their moko on official documents in place of a signature. Some say that even a man's tribal affiliations, status, job, accomplishments, whether he was married, and information about his parents were all recorded in his moko.
In the 1970s, Maori women who had had moko applied in the early twentieth century told of their reasons for having it. Some said that they wanted to show their mothers that the Maori tradition would not die. One woman said, 'a Maori lady was not a lady unless she had a moko' and that she 'felt bare walking around without one'. Another woman said, 'this was my powder and lipstick'At the beginning of the twenty-first century Maori people who wear moko say they are asserting their identity as Maorit is not known exactly when Moko was first sighted off the east coast of the North Island, New Zealand but reports show that he first became known in 2007 at Mahia beach. For those film buffs who love French cinema and have sufficient French to be able to follow non-subtitled films whilst lacking complete fluency in the language, one of the frustrations is missing the nuances with which the great French scriptwriters studded their screenplays. I'm speaking of course of the likes of Jacques Prévert, Henri Jeanson, Charles Spaak, from what we might call the First Wave, and Michel Audiard, Francis Veber, etc. from the Second. Les Tontons flingueurs falls firmly into this category, for Michel Audiard has sprinkled his one-liners like a trail of breadcrumbs that will lead the viewer unerringly to the climax outside the church.

In 1962, Georges Lautner, has just completed The Seventh Juror and The Monocle, photographed by Maurice Fellous. Alain Poiré Gaumont Inter proposes that Lautner direct the adaptation of Albert Simonin's detective story, Grisbi or not Grisbi. Film star Jean Gabin is to take the role of Fernand Naudin and wants to impose his usual film crew. But Lautner accepts on one condition that his own team accompany him on the film.

The only worry about Posey has been his left wrist (and trust us Giants fans, we know all about wrist injuries. I'm looking at you Renteria, Kent, and DeRosa. Apparently it has been bothering him all season, and to be honest, if the team is out of contention by the end of August, I wouldn't mind seeing him shutdown. As it is however, the injury doesn't seem to be affecting his play much as he continues to hit the ball with authority and take quality at bats, something of a rarity around these parts.

Mortgage rescue companies often promise that they can stop the sale of your home no matter how far behind you are on the payments. This is not always the truth. The mortgage rescue scam has become increasingly popular since the housing crisis of the last few years. The scam normally involves paying a company hundreds of dollars a month to prevent a foreclosure only to discover that the only thing the company did was cash your checks.

Must Be The Dance Superstar Talent | Must Be The Dance Aspiring Auditions| Musical Competition

The series, open to all musicians and singers no matter what type of music they play, is set to air in early August 2010 on Sky 1 HD and its unique new format hands back control to the artists themselves, empowered by creative support, promotional advice and a cash fund of £100,000 to kick start their career. The final will be held live at one of the UK's biggest and most famous music venues, where the finalists will perform on the same stage as the show's prestigious judges.

Speaking to Eamonn Holmes, fellow finalists The Pictures insisted there was no rivalry backstage between the bands."It's been a truly supportive atmosphere," drummer Max Baillie said."Backstage all the acts were encouraging each other - the competition was really stiff.Must Be The Music has set itself apart from other talent shows with contestants being able to perform their own songs. As soon as acts reached the live semi-final stage their music became available for download.

People are hearing these songs and they want to be a part of it," he told Sky News.
"It's interesting how people are obviously voting, but apart from that, they are going out and spending money on these tracks because they want them in their lives."It goes to show how differently people can pursue their music."The singer-songwriter dismissed claims the show is 'anti X Factor'.

We went today and all I can say is that they treat you really well, there were only about eight people being auditioned at the same time and they were all interviewed it was well organized, we were all even given cooled bottles of water, didn't have to buy them. All the crew were really nice. When my daughter was auditioned and she didn't get through there was a loud gasp from the audience I think they thought she should go through. Although my daughter was disappointed I think she was impressed with the way this was handled compared with BGT and X factor, you were made to feel more a person a less like cattle.

Must Be The Music is about giving the acts control over their careers. Everything they perform on the show will be available to download on i Tunes after each show, so they'll earn money right from the start. The winner will also receive a £100,000 cash fund  rather than a record contract with a mogul who's itching to bin you at the first opportunity. The aim is to forge and hone acts that can emerge as fully rounded stars.

This certainly looks like the direction that Must Be The Music is headed. The judges seem more eager to encourage genuine talent than simply sneer at weirdos, and the acts look a pleasantly diverse bunch, with rock groups, beat boxers, freestyle mouth organists and medieval folk choirs ready to fight it out over the next few weeks.
