| Delhi Budgets 2010 Full Highlights – Pay Out of Your Sleeves Even For Commonly Used Things Posted: 22 Mar 2010 11:50 AM PDT
 DR. Ak Walia Delhi budget has been declared today and people of Delhi will have to pay out of their sleeves even for things like cooking gas and diesel because Delhi government has withdrawn subsidy on LPG. This is just nothing. Delhi government has also imposed a harsh decision of increasing VAT on almost everything for generating more revenue. While the Delhi budget was being presented Finance Minister A.K Walia confirmed the decision of withdrawing subsidy on LPG Cylinders for domestic consumer through announcement. Soon after this declaration he gave another big jolt to the layman of Delhi by announcing that VAT has been increased on diesel and CNG from 12.5% to 20%. After this declaration now diesel is going to cost 35.29 rs. With the withdrawal of subsidy now cooking gas is likely to cost 322.80 rs in the national capital. 5% tax has been imposed on compressed natural gas but no tax has been implemented on public transports like auto rickshaws and buses etc. but at present no tax is taken on CNG. As per the sources the purpose behind taking these hard decisions is to generate 1100 crore rs for the Commonwealth Games that are to be hosted by the national capital later this year. According to the Finance Minister of Delhi these hard decision has been taken due to recession because it has hit the development plan being executed for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. So we really needed some way out to complete all the programs for this multilateral event by generating additional revenue. Chief Minister of Delhi today said that if they are provided any additional fund as a help for completing all the required preparation for Commonwealth Games so we would be happy to impart that fund among the residents. Finance Minister also said while he was presenting Delhi budget of 26,000 rs he also said that highest allocation has gone to transport sector for paying 4,224 crore as against allocation of last budget which was of 3,069 crore rs. In this regard leader of opposition said that BJP is planning for a protest against the VAT which has been increased. According to A.K.Walia the government also has a plan to buy 1,475 new low-floor buses before August this year. In this regard rs 675 crore have been allocated. Vehicle tracking system for online bus information system is operational which is based on Global Positioning System. Amount of rs 749 crore has been kept aside by the government so that basic services can be developed in unauthorized colonies where the amount rs 2,851 crore has already been invested by the government in this regard. But this Delhi budget has brought good news for pensioners because government is going to give pension to more people and rs 46 crore have been allocated for pension to widows Government has something in its sleeves for industrial sector also as the Delhi government is planning to set up special economic zones in the city. Electricity sector has been allocated rs 11.80 crore. He also claims that the state will be power surplus state in the current fiscal year. 8000 flats have been constructed in the housing sector and all these flats are going to be given to the people living in slums. In addition to this 7,000 flats are under construction at Baprola, Bawana, and Ghogha an in the same areas amount of 476 crore rs has been allocated to the social welfare sector also. In this Delhi budget registration fee for all these purposes has been increased from rs 100 to 500 so that government can get the revenue of rs 6 crore from it. |

| Delhi Finance Minister, A.K.Walia Gives Some Indication Over the Delhi Budget 2010 Posted: 22 Mar 2010 04:44 AM PDT NEW DELHI: On Monday afternoon, the Delhi Finance Minister, A.K.Walia provides the ending touch to his Budget speech to the Delhi Budget 2010. Delhiites get some indication of loosening of their pockets for the proper ensurement of the Commonwealth Games in the short term and assist the city government of Delhi over its fiscal insufficiency in the long term. Delhi Chief Minister, Smt. Sheila Dikshit told in her answer to the Lieutenant Governor's address on Thursday about the government's failure in financial terms and the Centre's refusal to sanction more funds would be a matter of more obstacles to them. These are some ways by which Delhi Government is anticipated to increase the revenue in the Delhi Budget 2010 for the current fiscal year. These measures involves in bus fares, water tariff, removing of the subsidy to some extent on the electricity bills and an increment in VAT on some products. All these revenue increment is done for the funds for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi. So be ready to make more expenses by the upcoming Delhi Budget 2010. |
