Google has announced that its Google Voice service would now be available for all U.S. citizens – without the need of an invite. In a blog post announcing the decision, Google Voice product manager Craig Alker quipped, “We’re proud of the progress we’ve made with Google Voice over the last few years, and we’re still just scratching the surface of what’s possible when you combine your regular phone service with the latest web technology.” Since the service was launched in U.S., Google Voice has managed to garner a decent userbase of about 1 million users. Loop Mobile and SMS GupShup, have jointly announced the launch of the “Reply All SMS” service. This will enable Loop Mobile subscribers to communicate with multiple people using SMS simultaneously. By using this service, Loop Mobile subscriber can create a Group of up-to 7 friends including himself. This Group is assigned a dedicated short code by SMS GupShup. Members on the group can send messages to this short code to communicate with each other. The messages reach all members of the group at the same time and if anyone replies, the reply too reaches all members of the group. Loop Mobile subscribers can invite friends from other operators to the group too. Every message to the short code is charged at a nominal price of only 50p. Apart from being light on the pocket, Reply All SMS service extends the capabilities of SMS from basic person-to-person (P2P) messaging to many-to-many (M2M) messaging. The service works on every handset, across operators, and does not involve software downloads – neither is data connectivity required. According to Loop Mobile, Reply All SMS is similar to the CC and reply-all features on email. To start a conversation, all a subscriber needs to do is to send the following message to 555999: CHAT 98210xxxxx 98200xxxxx 92235xxxxx (where 98210xxxxx etc. are the numbers of the friends, who may be on any operator network). Once this happens, the system will create a group and prompt the user to send a message, which goes to all participants in the group. Participants can reply to the message – which will also be sent to all participants in the group. The group can have at most 7 participants, including the initiator. This service is currently being offered free of cost to all Loop Mobile users till June 30, after which users will be charged 50p for every message sent to the group. The web is booming now with “Oprah winfrey”, yes we said it right, because on internet people are searching for for oprah, and with rumors this afternoon about Oprah Winfrey who decided to remove her sixth toe. OPRAH was told that the toe is a source of insecurity for the television mogul. Oprah Winfrey is in the middle of a controversy after contestant Zach Anner fell on 2nd place at the contest held on her page. 23 June 2010 – Michael Jackson has made $1Billion since his death Michael Jackson’s estate has made more than $1bn (£677m) since his death a year ago, according to estimates by trade paper Billboard. The magazine says Michael Jackson’s album sales have generated about $383m (£259m), while revenue from the film This Is It has hit nearly $400m (£271m). Profits from publishing rights, licensing and touring are also included in the total. A new recording contract is estimated to have made $31m (£21m) so far. The Sony Music Entertainment deal will see 10 albums of the late singer’s music released over the next seven years, including one of previously unreleased material. The estate is guaranteed between $200m (£135m) and $250m (£169.5m) for the deal but Billboard believes approximately $31m (£21m) of this will have been paid in the last 12 months. Publishing profits: Despite the This Is It tour never getting off the ground, revenue from tickets retained by fans as souvenirs and not refunded brought in about $6.5m (£4.4m), with merchandise raking in $5m (£3.4m), although concert promoter AEG has a cut of these profits.
The magazine said Mijac could have generated as much as $50m (£33.9m) in the last year. Michael Jackson’s estate also owns half of music publishing company, Sony/ATV. Barry Massarsky of Massarsky Consulting estimated that Jackson’s share of Sony/ATV’s revenue is $80m (£54.3m) a year. Other profits have come from DVD sales and rentals, downloads, royalties and ringtones. Michael Jackson died on 25 June last year at the age of 50.
