A debut directorial venture by Anusha Rizvi, this Amir Khan Productions movie is a satirical take on the issue of farmer suicides in villages in India. Natha played by Omkar Das Manikpuri, is a simpleton farmer from the village of Peepli. Unable to pay back a government loan he decides to end his life & hence earn government aid fro his family that's struggling to make ends meet. With excellent actors including the great playwright late Habib Tanvir’s Naya Theatre troupe members, as well as veteran actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Malaika Shenoy, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shalini Vatsa, Farrukh Jaffer, Vishal O. Sharma, Aamir Bashir, Sitaram Panchal and Yugal Kishore, the film promises to hold good on the hype surrounding it. The 4th production of Amir Khan, Peepli [Live] has brought to the forefront the state of poverty, the deplorable media gimmicks & political game-plays. All this with a touch of humour. And no wonder the film has already won the Best First Feature Film award at the 31st Durban International Film Festival in South Africa. Peepli [Live] has also been selected by German company Rapid Eye Movies to be screened at Berlin International Film Festival. The Sundance Film Festival will also see the first time entry of an Indian movie Peepli[Live]. Melbourne International Film Festival MIFF 2010 had already played the movie. "In Britain we have partnered with Artificial Eye (again first for a Hindi Film), a premium distribution chain that looks into art house main stream release and own the largest art house exhibition chain called Curzon theatres. It was on this day that India broke free from the shackles of British rule and attained complete independence. The uncompromising attitude of our forefathers to British imperialism, bought us our birth right to live free on our land-India. They laid the foundations of our economic development by means of an all-inclusive multi-purpose planning. What have we built upon it but the virtual vine-yard of corruption? It's time we accepted our own failings and flaws and not blame it on the Indian Government. We must be aware that we're equally responsible for the state our country is in before celebrating its independent existence. "Vox Populi Vox Dei", the voice of people is the voice of god. This was the basic building block that India and its democracy was built upon but can we really say that the elections today are a Plebiscite for measuring popular opinion? The electorate is teeming with rich individuals who work for their own ulterior motives and flout popular opinion at will. The people are not helping their cause by abstaining from voting and suppressing their views. Freedom of speech and writing seem so hollow that it resonates when touched upon. The rights and duties of citizens should be reciprocal but it is hardly present. Are we truly Independent or just slaves of people we call our own?? The wide disparities in the distribution of wealth, the inequalities in the possession of privileges is what characterizes modern India. The Indian peasant is still illiterate, Superstitious and caste-ridden. He is uneconomical and improvident. What have we done to deserve such a celebration of a pseudo freedom? No we are not talking of any award ceremony. We are of talking about the two blockbuster flicks which would be releasing this Friday The Expandables, directed by Sylvester Stallone "Rocky," as he used to be known before entering Hollywood, is said to be famous all around the globe, starting from the barber shops in India. To complete my statement, I would say that he was the only Hollywood actor to be known so wonderfully even by small town folks. Stallone’s action movie is soon to be released in the Indian theaters too after earning fame and appreciation in its home country. The movie, Gandu, is his latest one. Gandu is a Bengali movie which basically combines bengali rap music, porn scenes, pety crime, masturbation, and sex. A completely expletive movie but one which has already been selected for the South Asian International Film Festival in New York. The trailer below shows a clip of the flick. It might even be the first Bengali movie to express such strong issues. The movie relcts largely as to what is happening in the present society. ‘Gandu’ is a totally adventurous movie especially for the ones who prefer a little off track movies. The Bengali movie has shown an Indian vulnerable side along with social realist side. The movie is inspired from today’s unaffected youth who have completely no idea as to how to deal with uneventful situations. These issues are very relevant and requires wide attention and support during the current times. 'Robo' featuring superstars Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai is getting ready for release in Telugu and is expected to be sold at an exhorbitant price. The distributor however seems to have no qualms in paying the quoted price as the film has generated much interest already among the movie buffs. Reports say that amount of Rs. 30 crore is being demanded by the producers for the rights of 'Robo'. Meanwhile, famous distributor Chadalavada Srinivasa Rao had gone public saying that the film has been sold to him by Sun Pictures. This has been quickly denied by Sun, while Rao corrected soon that he had made the advance payment. He also added that the final deal will be made soon regarding the distribution rights. Sun pictures maintained that the film has not been bought by anyone so far. The prospective distributor shall get the promotion rights as well as in Tamil. The film has been crafted after spending a whopping Rs. 190 crores and everyone is keeping their fingers crossed as to what extent it will perform at the box office leading to the recovery of its high cost. |

Account holders after logging into this renewed version are welcomed with a balloon tip that has a message saying that Gmail has cropped its pixels and now it's even easier to reach out for the task and contact bars. For people who still don't know what this change is all about then here is a quick summary of all that has been trimmed to perfection. On the top left corner of the Gmail screen is now the contacts, mail and task bar. The compose mail option has also transformed from an out fashioned link to an all new button. The contact menu has also undergone a change with the key board shortcuts being functional here. With the new Gmail it is much easier grouping and selecting contacts. The renovations taking place at the Rishi Kapoor's Pali Hill bungalow has given way to a lot of speculations regarding his son and Bollywood heart throb Ranbir Kapoor's personal life. Rumors have gone to the extent stating that the conversion of the Kapoor house into a 14-storeyed building is in aspiration of a prospective daughter in law to be brought in by the Kapoor junior. The remarks by the actor himself have only added to the buzz created by the spacious arrangements taking place at the bungalow. "I want to start a family at some point. So we're only making a bigger house for ourselves. I will settle down as soon as I find someone special, and I haven't so far; I have a lot to do as of now.
