He attained quite a good amount of respect in the party when he managed to win the Sanjari Balod Assembly seat under the Durg district in Chhattisgarh in his maiden attempt during the December 2008 elections. The BJP MLA wilted to the serious heart condition just after reaching the MLA Rest House from the party gathering and was scooted to be given immediate medical care but to no avail. A senior party leader reciting the course of events as ‘He felt some pain in the heart in the evening at the state party headquarters in Raipur where state executive meeting was underway. He then left for the MLA (member of legislative assembly) Rest House (some 5 km from the meeting venue), where he fell down. He was rushed to Ramakrishna Care Hospital where he was declared dead’. The 90-member state assembly now stands with 47 BJP MLAs as opposed to 39 Congress members and the empty assembly seat would be up for grabs. The leader would be finally bid adieu by the party members and his followers at his native place Aramrikala in Durg district with last rites to be performed on Monday. The BJP party MLA Madanlal Sahu was a prominent face of the party in the naxal-infested state and consolations poured from all and sundry as the news of his sudden demise caused lament. The Governor Shekhar Dutt, state CM Shri Raman Singh and the speaker of the legislative Assembly Dharamlal Kaushik offered their last respects and bemoaned the death of Madanlal Sahu with his party members. |

Politician, Shashi Tharoor’s wedding to Dubai based businesswoman, Sunanada Pushkar, finally took place today morning at the Tharoor’s mansion in Elavanchery in Palakkad district of Kerela. The wedding was organized in a typical Kerela style and the Union Minister held it at his ancestral house. But the guest list was limited. Only the close relatives of Shashi Tharoor and Sunanda Pushkar were seen in the ceremonies. Both the bride and the bridegroom were dressed in typical traditional Kerelite bride and groom in white and golden. The wedding ceremony too, was kept pretty short, for about ten minutes. After the wedding took place Jayasankari, Tharoor’s grandmother, blessed the newlywed couple and so did Tharoor’s other relatives and in-laws – his mother Lilly Chandran Tharoor, uncles Narayanan Unni and Mukundan Unni, and the bride’s grandfather, Colonel Pushkarnath Das. Among others who attended the Kerela wedding were the children of the couple from their earlier marriage to their respective partners. Sunanda Pushkar has a son, Siva and Tharoor has two sons, Ishaan and Kanishk. from his first marriage. All the three kids were seen at the wedding. Both Tharoor and Sunanda are considering their third marriage to be a successful after having two failed marriages. |

Both Shashi and Sugandha were adorned in traditional wear for the wedding. At the wedding relatives as well as close friends of the two families were present including Tharoors 94 year old grand mother from his maternal side. Also 15 other members were present from the groom's side. Tharoor who was assigned the post for the minister of Indian external affairs, made a great mark by reaching out to Africa. But later controversies followed his policies that were based on political imprudence, with him saying or tweeting things that did not confirm with his position in the government. Apart from this he was also pulled into an IPL debate where he was accused of supporting a bidder from Kerala. The marriage which stands as Tharoors third take on this initiative sported a very unlikely face among the guests which was of Mani Shankar Aiyar, member of the Rajya Sabha. The bride Sunanda is from Dubai and this is her second take on marriage. |
The BJP MLA Madanlal Sahu breathed his last as the 52 year old succumbed to the massive heart attack and was declared to have expired in the Ramkrishna Care Hospital.
On Sunday, Surjit Singh Barnala, the governor of the Tamil Nadu state along with more of the leaders from the team came forward to present their Onam greetings to the Malayalees on the festival. Following regular media speculations into Shashi Tharoor marriage plans, the formal Indian external affairs minister tied the wedding knot on 22nd August with Sunanda Pushkar in a typical Keralite Hindu wedding ceremony.
