Dabangg sequel to be made: Arbaaz Khan

Dabangg sequel to be made: Arbaaz Khan"Dabangg" producer Arbaaz Khan, who is laughing all the way to the bank, has confirmed that a sequel to the box-office hit is on.

"Yes, a sequel is definitely on the cards. And why just a sequel? The film and the main character has the potential to be carried forward through various channels," said Arbaaz.

While other cast and crew details are yet to be finalised, "Dabangg" will roll at the year-end. And yes, it will have another item song on par with Malaika Arora's "Munni badnaam hui".

The sequel was on the cards from even before the release of "Dabangg" when the film's team had sensed the oncoming mass appeal of the ruralised hero Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan).

On Saturday evening at an Eid party at Salman's Bandra residence attended by the Khan family and the "Dabangg" team members, the decision to go ahead with "Dabangg 2" was locked in.

Supercharged by the roaring welcome given by audiences to "Dabangg", Salman suggested during the Eid party that the sequel should be done sooner than later. Details were immediately discussed. And Abhinav Kashyap, who directed "Dabangg", has been briefed on how the story goes forward.

Apparently Salman was kicked by the idea of a sequel even while the first part was being shot. During the shooting of a wedding sequence in "Dabangg", he announced a sequel to the entire cast.

According to a source, the core cast of Salman, Sonakshi Sinha and Sonu Sood will remain unchanged. But the plot will now move away from the Uttar Pradesh hinterland to a large city, probably Mumbai.

Sonu Sood, who plays the small town goon-politician, will play a double role in the sequel. Sood's character Chedi Singh will now have twin brother.

Confirming these developments, Sonu said: "Salman was the most charged person at his Eid party. We were all in a mood to celebrate. When Salman suggested we do the sequel, we started discussing it very seriously. I can't reveal too many details at the moment. But yes, my character Chedi Singh will have a twin brother in the sequel."

Raima Sen happy with roles without bikini (Interview)Actress Raima Sen, who has made a name for herself in the Bengali film industry as well as Bollywood with her offbeat roles, says she is ready to sport a bikini on screen if she finds the script exceptionally good. Given a choice, though, she would go for period films.

"I don't like to wear a bikini on screen. I thank god that till date I haven't got such roles where I need to wear a bikini because I don't think wearing one will add glamour to the role," Raima, 30, told IANS in an interview.

"But if a script comes to me and if it's really a very, very good script and the role demands, then it's okay wearing a bikini," said the star of such films as "Chokher Bali" and "Parineeta".

Raima comes from an illustrious Bengali film family - her grandmother, legendary actress Suchitra Sen, was one of the most sought after in Bengali as well as Hindi movies. And her mother Moon Moon Sen was a yesteryear sex symbol. Her sister Riya too is active in Hindi movies.

Best known in the industry for her innocent and girl-next-door looks, Raima's beauty has often been compared to that of her grandmother's.

"I feel honoured when people compare my looks with those of my grandmother," she said.

Raima made her debut in the film industry with a small role in the critically acclaimed Hindi movie "Godmother" in 1999. But her acting skills were overshadowed by the presence of Shabana Azmi who was the main protagonist.

She is open to all kinds of roles and is very keen to feature in period films.

"I am open to all kinds of roles and if you ask me about my dream role, then I will say it's period films. I would like to act if there is a remake of any period films," she said.

Raima has made a mark in the film industry in the last 10 years by doing roles of substance. She was first critically acclaimed for her breathtaking performance in director Rituparno Ghosh's 2003 Bengali movie "Chokher Bali".

Her role in Pradeep Sarkar's 2005 movie "Parineeta" also won her rave reviews and later she wowed audiences with her performances in Bengali film "Anuranan" (2005) and Hindi movie, "Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd" (2007).

When asked to describe herself as an artist, she said: "I am a spontaneous actress."

Talking about her future projects, she said: "I have a few projects such as 'Memories' in March, 'Mirch', 'Naukadubi', 'Natobar Not Out'."

She is really excited about "Mirch" and "Naukadubi".

"Mirch" has been directed by Vinay Shukla. The plot of the film revolves around four short stories. Raima features in two of them.

"Naukadubi", based on a novel by Rabindranath Tagore, is directed by Rituparno Ghosh and is about wife swapping. Both Raima and Riya will play wives in the film.

Raima is currently enjoying her new role as a judge on the kid's dance reality show "Twinkle Twinkle Dancing Stars" on Bengali entertainment channel Mahuaa Bangla, but says her heart lies in acting.

"Yes, I am enjoying my new role as a judge of this dance reality show of kids. It's a different thing altogether. But I must say one thing - my passion is acting."

This is the first time Raima is judging a reality show.

Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha to team up againProducer Sajid Nadiadwala liked Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha so much that he has signed them for the Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster "Kick". Incidentally this will be the third film together of the actors after "Dabangg" and its sequel.

"It was Salman who was very keen that I sign Sonakshi opposite him in 'Kick'. I became a hundred percent sure of her after I saw her in 'Dabangg'. She and Salman make a great pair," said Nadiadwala.

On Thursday Nadiadwala drove down to the Sinha's bungalow to sign Sonakshi for the remake, which Shirish Kunder will be directing for Nadiadwala.

Salman was not only keen to sign Kunder as director, he strongly recommended Sonakshi for the female lead which Ileana had performed in the Telugu original.

"I am very happy to be working with Shatruji's daughter. He has worked extensively for my banner. In fact, I've a picture at home with Shatruji when he was shooting for our banner in 'Bhai Ho To Aisa'. I was six at that time."

"This is the first time I've gone to someone's house to sign an actor. Everyone comes to my office. But Sonakshi is Shatrughan Sinhaji's daughter."

Said Shatughan Sinha: "I told Sonakshi that I've worked with Sajid's grandfather and father. Now it's her turn to continue the tradition. God willing, my sons too will work with Sajid."

The film will go on floors this winter.
