Time for a quick test -

1. Four of the top 10 Business services can be found in what country?

2. Five of the top 8 Software development companies can be found in what country?

3. Three of the top 5 Call centers can be found in what country?

Answer:  India.

I had to call my cell-phone company the other night (AGAIN!) to haggle about the bill. Why can’t they make those things more understandable?

I was talking to someone in India. He did a fine job, too. And his accent was negligible.

Let’s see – pay an American $15/hr or more and benefits….or pay an Indian $5/hr.

Hmm….which would you choose?

Maggie Q Selected as One of 15 Celebrities Who Posed Nude to Save the Planet

Posted: 27 Sep 2010 03:26 AM PDT

Maggie Q, Margaret Denise Quigley, is part American and part Vietnamese. She was born in Honolulu to an American father and Vietnamese mother who met while her father was stationed in Vietnam. Yeah, good things did come of the Vietnam war, eh?

Maggie has two sisters and two half-siblings from her mother’s previous marriage.

Her acting career began in Hong Kong and because she is not Chinese in heritage, her films are dubbed in Chinese. She does, however, claim to speak Mandarin and Cantonese. She has appeared in Hong Kong action thrillers, German-Singaporean telemovie programs and opposite Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible III. She also appeared in Live Free or Die Hard opposite Bruce Willis.

Maggie was selected by GreenPacks.org as one of 15 celebrities to pose nude to change the planet.

I don’t know that being a vegetarian qualifies as an attempt to change the planet, but the poster is definitely a head turner.

What do you think of celebrities like Maggie Q using their outward beauty for such causes? Does it make a difference? Or is it all about public relations so she can sell more movie tickets.

September 27, 2010 is the 103rd birth anniversary of the Indian freedom fighter. Born into a Sikh family, he was very influenced by the movement of freedom fighting, the sense for which was prevailing in his family, right from before his birth.

How Many Countries Are There on a List of Countries in Asia?

Posted: 26 Sep 2010 11:24 PM PDT

An updated List of Countries in Asia.

For someone who writes about Asia, I should have known the answer off the top of my head to the question of how many countries are there on a list of countries in Asia?

I didn’t. I was surprised when I checked. There’s been a lot of divvying up of the big continent. You can count the number of countries or just scroll down to the bottom to find the answer.

Where I could, I provided links to take you to sites about the countries – CIA, State Department, United Nations, that country’s site, official tourist info, BBC, Library of Congress, that country’s embassy, World Bank, and so on. In many cases a link can send you elsewhere to find info on other countries as well. The CIA, World Bank and so on have links for all countries.

If you have a better link to introduce a country, please send me your recommendation in the comments. It would be fun for me and perhaps others who find this site to know the best source to find info on a country. Thanks!
