Chinese Crested-Chihuahua Mix is World’s Ugliest Dog

Posted: 05 Oct 2010 12:30 PM PDT

A 2-year old Chinese Crested and Chihuahua mix was crowned the world's ugliest dog….for 2007.

I am sure that in 1972 it was the girl who asked me to take her to the prom. (they could that back then). I know what girls feel like when guys ask them out and they can't turn them down. Wait! Maybe I was the ugliest one.

The dog, Elwood, is dark-colored and hairless, except for a mohawk puff of white on his foreheard.

His owner thinks "he's the cutest thing that ever lived."ugliest.dog.jpg

Yeah, my mom thought I was cute, too. But, my dad used to tie a pork chop around my neck just to get our dog to

play with me.

Elwood almost was euthanized because the breeder thought he would be too ugly to sell.

Now…the dog has beaten out other Chinese Crested mixes to take home a crown and a $1,000 for his owner.

Who's the ugliest person you ever went out with?

Starbucks Gets More Control of Its Operations in China

Posted: 05 Oct 2010 08:26 AM PDT

Starbucks Corp. opened its first outlet in China in 1999. In 7 years the coffee maker has brewed more than 200 locations.

Until 2004 China required foreign companies to be joint ventures before setting up shop. Now those restrictions have been eased.

As a result, Starbucks purchased a Hong Kong Co. that had operated more than 60 of Starbuck’s coffee houses.starbucks.jpg

The Hong Kong firm, High Grown Investment Group Ltd, operated Starbucks outlets in Beijing and Tianjin.

Starbucks says the acquisition will allow it to be more efficient and accelerate growth in China.

That’s good news. China’s workers need more caffeine to pump some life in to the economy, eh?

Tech Crunch published Dick's statement after taking control.

"I love working with Evan Williams. During his tenure as CEO, Twitter has gone from 20 employees to 300, from three million registered users to more than 165 million, and from 1.25 million Tweets per day to 90 million today, and he's done all this while keeping Twitter's unique culture intact. I completely respect his decision to focus on product strategy and vision. As we've all see with the new Twitter, when Ev focuses on product, something amazing can happen. I'm certainly excited to be taking on this role. You couldn't ask to take a job like this at a better time – the team is incredible, we have awesome stuff in the pipeline, and we're ready to accomplish more in the next two years than we've accomplished in the last four."

China’s Wealthiest Individual is a Woman – Zhang Yin

Posted: 05 Oct 2010 12:23 AM PDT

China’s wealthist person is Zhang Yin – 49 year old founder of the Nine Dragons Paper Co.

She created her company by recycling paper from the U.S. and turning it into packing material.

It gives real meaning to "One man’s trash is another’s treasure."

Zhang Yin is worth $3.4 billion – 50% more than the richest fellow, Shi Zhengrong, CEO of Suntech at $2.2 billion.

Seven of the top 10 richest individuals in China deal in some way with property development and are listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange.

The next richest woman in China is Chen Ningning, a metal trader partnering with her mother – worth $813 million, according to Hoogewert’s list.

But for now…a woman sits on top.

I wonder what the men’s club has to say about that.

Symonds calls Harbhajan a liar

Posted: 04 Oct 2010 11:38 PM PDT

Andrew Symonds has said that the Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh should have been punished for calling him a monkey during the 2008 Test match at Sydney. India were playing Australia in the second Test of the four game series at Sydney and the controversy had blown up into huge proportions.

Symonds said that the Indians had lied about what Harbhajan Singh had said to him and the ICC meeting had turned into a courtroom. Symonds also added that he thought that he was hard-done by the administrators over the incident – the BCCI, Cricket Australia and the ICC.

Symonds had retired from international cricket after he could not accept the terms and conditions of the contract that he signed with Cricket Australia and is now a freelance cricketer who plays for the various T20 cricket tournaments.

India is currently playing Australia in another Test series and you can watch the India v Australia series live on Neo Cricket. You can also follow the live scores and scoreboard of the first Test match between India and Australia here.
