In Mohali Australia were staring at defeat after losing their top five batsmen for just 10 runs on the fourth day of the second Test against India here on Monday. Chasing a huge victory Michael Clarke however defied the Indian attack and was on 42 with six fours at close along with Brad Haddin (37), both having put on 83 runs for the sixth-wicket stand. Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, 28, started the Australian rot, sending back openers Matthew Hayden (29) and Simon Katich (20) in his sensational opening over before removing Michael Hussey (one) for his 299th Test scalp.
Ricky Ponting (two) saw his off-stump uprooted by lanky paceman Ishant Sharma who claimed the Australian skipper for the fifth time in as many matches. Sharma then returned to dismiss Shane Watson (two), who top-scored with 78 in Australia’s first innings total of 268, to reduce Australia to 58-5. Needing 375 more runs with five wickets in hand, the number one side in the world will have to pray for a miracle if they are to stop India from going 1-0 up in the series for the Border-Gavaskar trophy.History is also against the visitors as the highest successful fourth innings chase is 418 achieved by the West Indies against Australia at St. John’s in the 2002-03 series. Australian coach Tim Nielsen though believed his team could still pull off a win, declaring “the game is not lost yet.” “The whole day is left tomorrow and it’s a nice batting wicket. The stand up comics are already mourning George W Bush’s departure, and now Bollywood too has its final word on the outgoing American President. A film titled The President Is Coming, based on a play and produced by Ramesh Sippy is ready to hit theatres at the end of this month. A digital film, this one directed by Kunal Roy Kapoor and produced by Ramesh Sippy Entertainment, has no big stars and retains the cast of the play on which it is based. "It gives young writers a hope that when they think of different ideas, they can actually make it into a film," says producer Ramesh Sippy.
"I am actually happy that sippy films is doing commercial films and small budeget documentaries also," says Konkona Sen Sharma. The film deals with 10 contestants who line up for a chance to shake hands with President George W Bush with its comic take on India Shining, and many other sacred cows (shot of a buffalo), shot in mock documentary style, it’s a worthy send off to the outgoing President known for his unique contribution to the English language. Gandhi Jayanti will be celebrated tomorrow all over India. October 2 is observed as the national holiday every year. The day marks the birth anniversary of the father of the nation.
Mahatma Gandhi who was fondly called as 'Bapu' was the freedom fighter of India and believed in the concept of ahimsa or non- violence. The day is also observed as the 'International Day of Non- Violence', worldwide. He was an attorney by profession and was also a spiritual leader he also believed in simple living. His used to have simple vegetarian food, wear simple clothes- dhoti was his attire. Gandhiji believed in speaking the truth 'always' and wanted that others too, should his belief. He was introduced to the Indian scenario by the Congress leader, Gopal Krishna Gokhale and from then, started his political journey. There was no looking back for him since then. 'Nirmohi Akhara' is a Hindu discipline. The Allahabad High court finally announced the mostly awaited Ayodhya Verdict yesterday, September 30, 2010. The verdict was quite unusual where one third of the land belongs to 'Nirmohi Akhara'.
People belonging to 'Nirmohi Akhara' are the devotees of God Ram and the name actually means 'Group Without Attachment'. They have denounced the worldly things are now completely into God worship. Nirmohi Akhara said that the Ayodhya Ram temple land exists since ancient times even before the existence of the humans. The Ayodhya land is divided into three parts, one part is given to the Muslims and the other two portions are for the Hindus. The Hindus had demolished the Babri Masjid in the year 1992 claiming that the place on which the Mosque stood belonged to the Hindus, as God Ram was born there.
