ICC clears Kamran Akmal to play internationals

Kamran Akmal was cleared by the ICC from any wrongdoing, which means that he can now play in international cricket if the selectors decide to go ahead with him. However, it will depend on whether the selectors want to select him in the side after his poor form and controversial reign as the keeper.

Akmal had approached the ICC asking them if he was under any kind of a scanner and the apex cricket body refused any such things.

Akmal was allegedly one of those involved in spot-fixing in England but the Scotland Yard had not probed into his association. He was more in news for his involvement in the the Sydney Test match of 2010 where Pakistan had lost the Test match because Akmal had dropped three catches and missed an easy run-out chance.

The Australian batsmen failed to get a move on in their final warm-up game before they play in the Ashes from November 25.

Ricky Ponting did not tickle the scorers too much while Shane Watson and Simon Katich got nothing for them. What was worse was that Katich also injured his shoulder in the game.

Michael Hussey failed to get off the mark while Marcus North barely scraped through to 17.

In the last warm-up game that England plays as well, Usman Khwaja and Callum Ferguson, both included in the 17-member side failed with the bat.

The bowlers did a tad better – Mitchell Johnson did not get a chance to bowl but scored an unbeaten 80 while Doug Bollinger picked up three wickets in the game.

The first Ashes Test starts from November 25.
