5 Reasons why Hong Kong is a Magnet for Chinese Mainlanders…rich and poor

Posted: 25 Dec 2010 03:28 PM PST

I have been to Hong Kong and I can't imagine why anyone would want to live in a city of 6 million plus in such a small land area. I reckon that is the somewhat 'country boy' in me coming out.

Still, many many Chinese mainlanders want to move to Hong Kong…despite the 2 to 3 year-long waiting list down from twice that not long ago.

Why would people want to move to Hong Kong from the mainland.

1. Hong Kong is now 100% Chinese
hong.kong.jpg
2. Hong Kong is very international

3. Hong Kong is very liberal

4. Hong Kong is a mixed salad of cultures

5. Hong Kong is a bit like England or America with a lot more Chinese culture

Four of every 10 marriages in Hong Kong now involve Chinese mainlanders.

In 2004, 147 million passenger trips were made between neighboring Shenzhen and Hong Kong alone.

Still…unofficial figures say that hundreds of thousands of Hong Kongers are moving out of the hectic city lifestyle to enter another hectic city lifestyle…Shanghai, Beijing or….

Why…because Chinese mainland cities have caught up fast.

Which do you like more, the big city or the country?

Serious Money Maker – Foreign Investments Head for Private Medical Institutions

Posted: 25 Dec 2010 11:27 AM PST

More than 560 million people suffer from dental problems in China!

EVERY 5-year old has 4-5 decayed teeth.

The elderly in China (60-80-years old) are missing on average 9 teeth each.

Private dental clinics have a future worth smiling about, no?

Thus, foreign investment is coming in to China from the United States and United Kingdom.

Jiamei is a chain-clinic with 60 branches throughout the country.jiamei.dental.jpg

With $10 million in investment, plans are being rooted for 40 more by the end of the year.

Another $40 million will bring the number to 300 clinics by the end of 2008.

Korean Automaker in the market to take over Chrysler?

Posted: 25 Dec 2010 07:26 AM PST

The Vice President of Hyundai Motors says "NO!" The company is not in the market to bid for Chrysler.

No high-level talks have gone on between Hyundai and Chrysler. What about low-level talks? Okay, that's stretching it.

Whether Hyundai is interested in bidding for Chrysler or not is irrelevant. What is interesting is that a whole lot of people think a Korean carmaker, NOT a Japanese carmaker, has the resources to buy out/takeover one of America's Big Three.hyundai.jpg

The Chrysler folk ought to be pretty embarrassed about these news reports, I think.

Who will be up for sale next, Ford? Maybe a Chinese company will buy them out.

That would be fun.

What has happened with America's carmakers? It's going to be a long time, if ever, before they are back in the driver's seat when it comes to being the best.

Honda-Dongfeng Target 60% Growth

Posted: 25 Dec 2010 03:25 AM PST

Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co. in Shanghai are hoping to sell 100,000 cars in 2007.

Local production of the Honda Civic began last year with a 120,000 unit annual capacity.

Honda and Dongfeng also hope to expand its dealership from its current 120 branches to 200 by the end of this year.

The company plans to introduce an overhauled and cheaper CR-V this month with 2- to 2.4-liter engines.

My wife (made in China) and I love her CR-V. My son loves his Civic.

Honda Dongfeng think they can sell 35,000 of them in China…and if so…revise the sales goal to 125,000 vehicles.

I wonder where they will get those other 5,000 cars.

Have you ever driven a Honda?
