The recent WikiLeaks cables have revealed that, Al-Qaida and bio-terror target, had India on its hit list. As per the US embassy cable of May 2006, “India is now an al-Qaida target.”
Mentioning about additional secretary KC Singh, the cables said, “Singh opened by noting that India is becoming more prominent on al-Qaida’s radar.” The cable was pointing towards the Ayman-al-Zawahiri video message on April 29, which was praising the jihadist movements in Kashmir against Indians. It had also called India the best candidate for carrying out the Zionist Crusader scheme to belittle and humiliate Pakistan. The cables also mentioned that, the al-Qaida activists had been very active in India. Moreover the cables also showed the interest of Indian jihadi groups in bio terrorism. KC Singh, who was the MEA additional secretary of external affairs, according to the cables had reported that, the Indian Intelligence was sharing the information of the jihad's interest in bio terrorism. |

Once again the Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj has demanded an explanation from Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, about the allocation of land to his family. A while back, Yeddyurapa was accused of allotting government land in the name of his family members.
Bhardwaj had asked for the details of the land dealings in a letter written to Yeddyurappa. Bhardwaj has asked Yeddyurappa to reply against all the charges against him. “I have a right under the Constitution to get information from government on any issue that is why if the government keeps silence on any issue and not gives information what can I do? I can only write to the Chief Minister. So I wrote these letters reminding him that I’m still not getting any reply?” Bhardwaj said. The letter had followed with the media reports of corruption by the government of Yeddyurappa. Bhardwaj in the letter has also asked about what actions he is taking to check all the illegal mining in the state. |

A Railway Ministry official has said that, no extra fares would be charged for the new double decker AC chair car trains. The double decker chair car trains, which will soon be introduced, will have the same fares as the fares in the superfast trains.
“The fare of these trains will be levied at par with AC chair car class of superfast mail or express trains at the existing fares,” a senior Railway Ministry Official said. He also denied all the rumours of passengers being charged extra for the new double decker trains. Moreover the concessions in the train fares will also be applicable as in other mail and express trains. The new double decker trains are expected to run on the high density capacity routes. By Christmas such trains will be introduced in the Eastern Railway which will run between Howrah and Dhanbad. The officials say that, the clearance certificate from the Commissioner of Railway Safety to run the trains on this route will be received after an inspection. |

IRCTC.com homepage is revamped by the webmasters of Indian Railways and they used good animation and other HTML 5 styles to give a better and new look to the website and its beta is now available to view. They are asking for feedback and suggestions from there customers and viewers. The old homepage is still showed by default, the link of beta version is available on the old homepage. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd. has been set up by the Ministry of Railways with the basic purpose of hiving off entire catering and tourism activity of the railways to the new Corporation so as to professionalize and upgrade these services with public-private participation. One of the 4,000 cables leaked US diplomatic cables sent from Delhi, has revealed some words spoken by Rahul Gandhi to the American Ambassador. Rahul had said that, the Hindu extremists can be of greater threat than the Muslim militants in India.
The politician who is considered as the prospective prime minister had warned Timothy Roemer, that in spite of rumours of the support from the Islamist group Lashar-e-Taiba for the muslims, the Hindus can be a bigger threat. According to Gandhi, the Hindus are capable of creating religious tensions and conflicts. Gandhi said, “The risk of a ‘home-grown’ extremist front, reacting to terror attacks coming from Pakistan or from Islamist groups in India, was a growing concern and one that demanded constant attention”. The revealed cables have given a boost for a prospective relationship between a growing power and a super power. However Americans are interested to make relationships in a loud democracy of India. |
