The Mohali pitch is bound to be batsmen-friendly. According to sources the fast bowlers will be more effective than spinners.

The previous games results suggest that most captains prefer to bat first after winning the toss. Best is to bat first because the pitch will become slow as the game progresses. But if there is heavy dew things will definitely change. “A 280-plus total would be really difficult to chase,” a source revealed.

Ricky Ponting steps down as Australia captain following the teams exit from the World Cup

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 01:14 AM PDT

Australia Cricket captain Ricky Ponting has resigned from his position in Tests and ODIs after their teams quarter-final exit from the World Cup 2011, but will play as a batsman in both formats.

Ponting the announcement at the SCG on Tuesday and has backed Michael Clarke to take over the leadership of the team.

Ponting said the World Cup exit had prompted his decision and that “no one has tapped me on the shoulder asking me to go.”

“I have resigned as captain of both the Test and one-day Australian teams. I will continue to play and am available for selection in both the one day and Test teams,” Ponting said.

“I have thought long and hard about what Australian cricket needs. Now is the right time for the next captain to assume the responsibility for both the Test and one-day teams. We have to be doing everything we can to win back the Ashes in 2013-14 and the World Cup in 2015. It is highly unlikely that I will be still playing so it is the right decision for Australian cricket that the next captain now be appointed. This will give him the opportunity to create his own direction and legacy.

“Today is a new start for me and I am very excited about the future. I will give my complete support to our new captain and continue to do my best to set the best possible example for my team-mates and emerging cricketers alike.”

Temple where dreams of visas come true

If you are one of those longing to get a visa to fly abroad, then instead of standing in a long queue outside the visa office, try standing in a queue outside the 'Sidhdheshwer Chamatkarik Hanuman Temple'. Locals believe that the God in the temple helps all those who aspire for a visa.

The temple is located in the city of Ahmedabad in the state of Gujarat, India. All you have to do is bring your visa documents to the temple and wait for your turn to keep your plea in front of 'Visa Hanuman'.

The temple is 400 years old, where hundreds of devotees throng at the temple to pray for a visa. Every Saturday about 4,000 devotees arrive at the temple, out of which 50 percent are those, who come to pray for a visa.

The devotees have to come with their papers and passports, which are laid at the feet of the god by the priest. The priest then asks the devotee to recite a prayer of Lord Hanuman. The locals believe that if the prayer is done with true heart, then the devotee will get his visa within a month. Apart from the city, people from all over the state come to pray for their visas. Now, thats one belief that is deep.

Sri Lanka which is the most difficult team to beat under home conditions is the favorite to win this match, however Cricket is the game of glorious uncertainties and anything can happen, looking at the way the Kiwi”s defeated the Proteas in the Quarter finals, they are all regrouped, geared up to face Sri Lanka.

For Sri Lanka the concern is their top spinner Murali is suffering with two injuries.

Vettory was surprised to see the same wicket in which the quarter final  match was played, the surface provided a lot of assistance to the slow bowlers and again playing on the same pitch will make it  more slower. Sri LAnka with three specialist spinners wil have an advantage under the home crowd.
