After the announcement of AIADMK and DMK parties in south India to distribute freebies for the voters, an individual contesting from Salem South has announced Nano cars, cell phones, electricity generators, free cable TV connections and pocket money of Rs. 200 for students, if he was elected in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Shahjahan even had an answer, when asked from where he would get the money to fulfill the promises. The contestant said that if the money from the 2G spectrum scam was confiscated, a lot more can be done.

Shahjahan is a lawyer by profession and when he was told that such offers are an offence under the Representation of the People's Act, he said that if other parties can do it why can't he. Another candidate, Kannaiyan contesting from Musiri has promised his voters gold coins, three cents of land and free cable TV connections.

However, a petition was filed against Kannaiyan by M Rajasekaran in the Madras High Court, saying that his practices were corrupt. But the court had dismissed the petition after the Election Commission assured that they would take steps in-case the charges were true. Earlier the AIADMK party too had offered freebies like mixer grinders, laptops and free rice for the poor people.

Jeetesh, a 26 year old man from the Jain community in India, would have never thought that his wedding with his wife Divya would end so soon. In a shocking revelation, Divya, a 20 year old girl, was introduced by a marriage bureau to a wealthy Jain family in Bengaluru, India, who did not belong to the Jain community.

But the family never thought that they would be cheated by the marriage bureau people as the bride had already an eight year old boy from previous marriage. Everything went on well, until Jeetesh's father noticed a cesarean section scar on Divya's belly.

The girl then confessed that she did not belong to the Jain community and did odd jobs to bring up her child and an aged mother. Divya then told the story, how she met Shantilal, a marriage bureau agent who had trained and promised her to get her married in to a rich family. The 20 year old was given a new name and was trained to speak in the accent of the Jains.

After the family complained to the police, it was found that Shanti Lal, Hasmukh Lal, Madan Lal, Sanjay and Rupesh had charged Rs. three to five lakhs for arranging marriages. The police upon investigation had also found that the group had already fixed four such marriages, which are doing well right now.
