Income tax e-filing gaining popularity

The month of July reminds everyone to file the income tax returns. The new system introduced by the government, which is the e-filing of the income tax is these days becoming popular.

The e-filing of the income tax is an easy as well as eco-friendly way of filing returns. In Bangalore, a Centralized Processing Centre of the Income Tax Department has been set up for the mass process income tax Returns. The CPCITD said that it has processed more than 66.1 lakh e-filed returns of assessment this year in all the categories of ITRs.

The processed e-filed returns also include corporate returns as well as generated funds in more than 25.1 lakh cases. It is a myth that filing of the returns online makes you vulnerable to the scrutiny from the taxmen.

The fact is that the scrutinization of the income tax is done on a random basis and has nothing to do if it has been filed manually or online. In case of an error, the e-filed returns can also be revised.
