India Against activist Anna Hazare, in protest of the Lokpal bill drafted by the government has appealed to the nation to turn off the lights on 15th August for an hour. A new campaign has been launched by Anna and his team in an appeal to support the hunger strike that will be held by him from 16th August 2011.

The activist and his team has been given a spot besides the Firoz Shah Kotla ground in Delhi to hold the protest. Anna on 15th August at 7 pm will be appealing the people of the nation to join him in the hunger strike and turn off the lights between 8 pm and 9 pm.

The announcement of the new campaign was made by Arvind Kejriwal of India Against Corruption on Thursday. Kejriwal had added that instead of the lights the people should light an earthen lamp which would signify a ray of hope to remove illiteracy, corruption and hunger from the country.

Further appeal was also made not to indulge in any violence during the hunger strike. Kekriwal had also said that they had come to know that some of the mischief mongers have the intention to enter the peaceful protests across the country and try to encourage violence.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose did not die in plane crash, claims driver

Indian revolutionary, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's death is still a mystery in the eyes of the public, as no one is sure how he had actually died. Meanwhile, Nizamuddin, who claims that he was the driver of Netaji, has said that it is not possible that he had died in the plane crash.

The 107 year old man has claimed that he was associated with the Azad Hind Fauj (AHF) and currently lives in Islampura, Bilariaganj in Azamgarh district. Nizamuddin has said that he has spent four years with Netaji after he had joined the AHF in the year 1942.

The driver said that it cannot be possible that he had died in the plane crash, as he was the one who had dropped him on the banks of the river Sitangpur near the border of Burma, three months after the plane crash incident.

However, Nizamuddin does not know what had happened to Netaji after he had dropped him at the river bank. He had insisted Netaji that he would accompany him, but he was commanded to return with a promise to meet again in the independent India. Nizamuddin had then recalled his meeting with Swami, who was a close associate of Netaji over 10 years back. Nizamuddin had repartriation certificate of AHF which showed that he was associated with the AHF.

Preparations for Raksha Bandhan festival begin in India

As the festival of 'Raksha Bandhan' approaches, preparations have already begun for the day. This year the festival will be celebrated on the 13th of August. The shops are already flooded with the 'Rakhis' which is considered as a sacred thread that is tied on the wrist.

On this day, all the sisters tie the sacred thread to the wrists of their brothers and take a promise that they would always be protected by their brothers. In consideration, the brother along with the promise, gives a gift known as the 'Shagun' to his sister.

For the festival, the market will be filled with varieties of decorative threads or 'Rakhis'. The festival is celebrated all over India and also by the Indians living abroad on the full moon day of the 'Shravan' month according to the Hindu calendar.

The festival is not just limited to the real brothers and sisters with a blood relation, but also to those who just maintain a relation like brothers and sisters.

Facebook launches new Messenger app for the go

Social networking site Facebook has recently introduced a new Messenger app, by which one can chat with friends when on the go. The new app is now available in the Apple App Store as well as the Android market.

The new app has been introduced in front of the already existing BlackBerry Messenger and Huddles from Google. Even Apple is preparing itself for the launch of iMessenger.

Messaging through Facebook is one of the very fastest ways to get in touch with friends individually or in groups. The new Facebook Messenger is all set for some competition in some of the aspects.

For Instance, in Huddles One can only send text based messages, while the Messenger will allow you to add photo as well as geolocation information. Moreover, the Facebook Messenger allows the uset to integrate the browser as well as the mobile conversations without missing a single beat. On the other hand the other services keep the mobile conversations in the mobile devices.

The 3rd cricket Test match between India vs England is being played at Edgbaston from August 10-14, 2011. The match begins at 3:30 p.m. India time.

England won the toss and decided to bat first, Indian opener, who returned to play the third test after injury, Virender Sehwag was out for a first ball duck! See live score.
