The Bhiwani District Administration has suspended Sarpanch Surender from Samaspur

Chandigarh, March 15- The Bhiwani District Administration has suspended Sarpanch Surender and Panch Ramesh of Gram Panchayat, Samaspur under section 51(1)(a) of Haryana Panchayati Raj Act, 1994 for making the issue of a marriage as that of dispute of Gotras and inciting the people against it thus violating the directions of Punjab and Haryana High Court.
While stating this in Bhiwani today, the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Vikas Gupta said that both the Sarpanch and Panch have also been directed to submit the funds of the Panchayat, record as well as moveable and immoveable property to the Sarpanch and Panch having majority. Also, they have been directed not to attend any meeting of the Panchayat.
He said that the Police had submitted a report on March 10 last that Mr Bhagwan, a resident of village Samaspur had married Ms Anita of village Makrani on January 11 at an Arya Samaj Mandir in Jaipur. The Sarpanch of village Samaspur and Panch Ramesh had made this marriage an issue of Gotra and provoked the people against this marriage.
Thereafter, by organising the Panchayats of Faugat Gotra on February 26 and 27 and March 3, a unilateral decision was taken to socially boycott the family of Mr Randhir Singh, the father of the boy Mr Bhagwan, and also directed them to leave the village. This decision of the Panchayat was in violation of the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and was the matter of serious law and order situation.

Haryana Police has registered a case against eight of its personnels

Chandigarh, March 15- Haryana Police has registered a case against eight of its personnels and detained them for an official inquiry as they have themselves surrendered late last night for their involvement in criminal activities in Panipat.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that these eight police personnels were, in fact, members of the 14-member special police team deputed under an Additional Superintendent of Police to nab the most wanted criminals of the State. The members of the special team were of the ranks ranging from Head Constables to Constables.
He said that the matter was being looked into by the Superintendent of Police, Panipat and a strict departmental and legal action would be taken against those found guilty. The Police Department has taken a serious view in the matter and the entire special team has been ordered to be totally dis-operational till the completion of the inquiry.

Haryana Govt to buy only labelled power instruments

Chandigarh, March 15 – The Haryana Government has decided that in future all the government departments/boards/corporations/government aided institutions/state government undertakings shall buy only star labelled air conditioners/frost-free refrigerators/tubular florescent lamps/distribution transformers.
While disclosing this here today, Mrs.Sumita Misra, Director, Department of Renewable Energy and Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) said that the air conditioners/frost-free refrigerators/tubular florescent lamps/distribution transformers were available in the market in the range of one star to five star labelled.
She urged the people of the state to buy only star labelled products for their household, industrial and commercial establishments and enjoy savings in energy consumption and bills, as these products consume 20-30 per cent less electricity as compared to conventional appliances/equipments.
She said that the star labelling of air conditioners/frost-free refrigerators/tubular florescent lamps/distribution transformers had been made mandatory since January 7, 2010 with an objective to provide the consumer an informed choice about the energy saving, and thereby the cost saving potential of the marketed household and other equipment.

The Court of Special Judge, Fatehabad has convicted Krishan Chander, Sub Inspector

Chandigarh, March 15 – The Court of Special Judge, Fatehabad has convicted Krishan Chander, Sub Inspector, who was posted at police post Meond, police station Jakhal, Fatehabad in a corruption case and sentenced him three years rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs.10,000 under section 7 of PC Act. The Court also sentenced him three years rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs.10,000 under section 13 of PC Act.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana State Vigilance Bureau informed that the accused was arrested by the Bureau's team while accepting illegal gratification of Rs 10,000 from Mr. Bansi Lal and Mr. Mewa Ram both resident of village Shakar Pura in district Fatehabad. The case under section 7/13 of PC Act was registered against him in Bureau's police station at Hisar.

HPGCL have achieved a commendable Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 83.69%

Chandigarh, March 15. The Thermal Power Stations of Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (HPGCL) have achieved a commendable Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 83.69% in 2009-10 upto February 2010. The Corporation is well on its way to achieve the highest ever annual PLF, during 2009-10.
A spokesman of HPGCL said here today that the continuous improvement in performance was a matter of pride and achievement. The Panipat Thermal Power Station-2 (PTPS-2) comprising of 250 MW / 210 MW Units had achieved a PLF of 92.85% which is comparable to the best performing power utilities in the Country. Even PTPS-1 which comprises of the old and small 110 MW Units, had achieved a PLF of 71.22 % during 2009-10 upto February which is the highest PLF achieved in last five years.
Talking about the performance of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Project (DCRTPP) Yamunanagar, he said that the power plant had achieved a PLF of 82.77% 2009-10 upto February which is an exemplary achievement as this is only the second year of its operation. This PLF had been achieved against the target PLF of 80% fixed by Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC), and was higher than the second year PLF achieved by any other Plant in the Country.
Regarding 300 MW Unit-2 of DCRTPP which was under forced shut down,  he said that after completion of the work of its annual maintenance and the repair of path-B of its Electro-Static Precipitator (ESP), the Unit had been brought back on bars at 4.33 AM on 15.03.2010, due to painstaking and round the clock efforts of DCRTPP engineers. Giving technical details, he said that during the shut down, the condenser of the Unit-2 was got thoroughly cleaned through the process of high pressure jet cleaning and bullet cleaning which is based on latest technology. The cleaning of condenser would ensure improvement in vacuum leading to higher efficiency. Another persistent problem of high vibrations in bearing no. 6 of the turbine had also been got attended by flying in Chinese vibration experts from Shanghai Electric Corporation (SEC), China. The vibrations in bearing no. 6 had now gone down below the normal specified level and the Unit is presently running at a load of around 160 MW.
He said that the repair work of 110 MW Unit-3 PTPS-1 Panipat, which was under forced outage on account of damage to its bearings due to failure of power supply from the switch yard, had been successfully completed and the Unit was likely to commence generation today, by midnight. Sharing information about the fire accident in Unit-2 of PTPS-1.  The suspected damage due to fire had been got checked up and no serious damage was observed. The Unit would start producing power within the next two days.
Referring to the timely maintenance of thermal generating units, he said that the HPGCL had planned to carry out the preventive maintenance and overhauling of all units for which a time schedule had been finalized. In order to ensure availability of electricity during the peak summer season, the annual overhauling of 110 MW Unit 2 of thermal Panipat was being tentatively planned from April 01 to May 10 for a period of 40 days. Subsequently it would be  planned to carry out the annual overhauling of 250 MW Unit 8 and 210 MW Unit 6 during May / June 2010 after which the performance of these units would improve further, he added.

The farmers and Agriculture Scientists will have to focus on preservation of natural resources

Chandigarh, March 15 – The farmers and Agriculture Scientists will have to focus on preservation of natural resources, such as – soil and water, besides increasing yields of various crops to cope with the foodgrains demand of the country.
This was stated by Dr. H.D.Yadav, Director, Extention Education, Ch.Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar while speaking as a chief guest in a function organised to observe tape worm awakening day at village Khabra Kalan.
He said that in a scenario when demand for foodgrains was increasing and size of land holdings was decreasing due to rising population of the country, foodgrains production would have to be increased by exploiting properly our limited resources and preserving soil and water resources. Precious water could be saved by adopting srinkler irrigation and levelling land with laser land leveller . Similarly, the use of vermi compost , green manure and other bio fertilizers would not only increase foodgrains production, but also improve soil health. He also stressed the need for installing more gobar gas plants for the production of bio fertilizer as well as electricity for domestic use.
He also appealed to the farmers to take to bee-keeping pisci culture and mushroom cultivation to increase their income.

Anusuchit Jati Chatra Uchh Shiksha Protsahan Yojna upto March 25, 2010

Chandigarh, March 15 – The Haryana Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Welfare Department has extended the date for submitting applications under Anusuchit Jati Chatra Uchh Shiksha Protsahan Yojna upto March 25, 2010.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the department said that earlier the date for submitting application under the scheme was February 15, 2010.
He said that the date had been extended to provide an opportunity to those girls students who could not apply under the scheme due to their being unaware of the scheme. Under the scheme, financial assistance was provided to the Scheduled Castes girl students for technical/vocational/science and commercial courses, he added.
The spokesman said that the girl students who could not apply earlier under the scheme should submit their application to the office of their concerned District Welfare Officer through their University/College/Institution by March 25, 2010 positively. Application received after this date would not be entertained.The detailed information could be obtained at website www.socialjusticehry.nic.in.
