Facebook ‘Phone’ Might Be The Upcoming Project Of Facebook

Posted: 20 Sep 2010 04:16 AM PDT

An internal source from 'Facebook' claims that it is on a new project of introducing Facebook mobile phone. The news is not confirmed though. There is another possibility that the organization might be building the software for the phone for another company said the source.

The source also claims that Joe Hewitt and Matthew Papakipos, the employees of Facebook working at a higher level are working for this project. But most of the other employees of the company have no idea regarding this.

Since the complete project is a hush hush no one knows, when the phone will be launched, or how it will look like or what will the phone be priced at, etc., There is hardly anyone, who know about the project in detail, so it is quite difficult to reach to further details regarding it.

Chinese Farmers to Dance in the Streets Over Tax Savings of….140 Yuan

Posted: 20 Sep 2010 02:27 AM PDT

The Chinese Agriculture Ministry calculation shows that Chinese farmers will be able to save about 140 yuan ($17.5) this year as a result of tax savings.

Do you think the farmers are getting naked and dancing on the tables?

China has reduced the annual tax burden of the rural farmers by 100 billion yen ($12.3 billion). But, when you divide that by the 900 million farmers, it doesn’t amount to much for each family.chinese farmer.jpg

The Chinese government has given subsidies to its farmers but, with so many farmers…how much difference can the government really make?

China is growing great guns on the coasts. However, even if 300 million Chinese say they have enough money or the means to make more….there are still 3 times that number suffering in poverty.

China still has a long way to go.

Tehri Dam – Incessant Rains Cause The Rise In Water Level At The Tehri Dam

Posted: 20 Sep 2010 12:23 AM PDT

Uttarakhand has been wrenched in water since past 24 hours due to heavy continuous rains in the region. 60 casualties have been reported so far. The rains have caused the floods, too.

The incessant rains have also caused the very popular Tehri dam of the region to overflow. The water level of the damn is exceeding its maximum level of 830 meter. The spill-way of the dam has been opened for the very first time because of this because if the water is not released, then it can be a major threat to the nearby villages.

Rishikesh and Haridwar are also facing the rising water level after the water release from the Tehri dam. River Ganga's water level has been measured about almost two meters above the danger mark.
The recent heavy rains have caused much damage in the regions of Almora, Chamauli, Uttarkashi and Nainital.

Gambling Comes Around….or does it?

Posted: 19 Sep 2010 10:26 PM PDT

Macao will implement a program that gives 15 years of free education to all of its kids – kindergarten through high school.

About 80,000 of the 92,254 school students attending 60 private schools will benefit from the new system.

Macao's government will also pony up $175 million to help improve school facilties and their services.

I reckon all that income Macao is getting from gambling revenues is being put to good use.

Of course, in time, the money will need to be redirected to keeping crime down, handling gamble abusers, fighting prostitution and everything else that follows casinos.

Is the trade off worth it?

What do you think?
