"Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked...I am prepared to appear before judge Elden S. Fox next week as a result," Lohan said in a series of posts on her microblogging site Twitter.

"Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and I am taking positive steps forward every day. I am testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future.

Hindi Movie 'That Girl in Yellow Boots' by Anurag Kashyap big hit in Toronto

Hindi Movie 'That Girl in Yellow Boots' by Anurag Kashyap big hit in TorontoThe red carpet was rolled out for Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and his cast for the premiere of his movie "That Girl In Yellow Boots" at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). And the audience response was "incredible".

And if viewers' reaction to this provocative thriller here over the weekend is anything to go by, "That Girl in Yellow Boots" is the most well received Indian film at this year's festival.

"The audience reaction here and in Venice has been incredible. I never expected that the film will evoke such a strong response and reaction," Kashyap told IANS.

After "Dev.D", "That Girl in Yellow Boots" seals Kashyap's reputation as one of the leaders of the independent film movement in India that is challenging conventional cinema by portraying social reality as it is.

As someone in the audience rightly said Friday, "This is a film about the underbelly of the Indian reality as it is. Kashyap's characters portray things as they are."

Set in Pune and Mumbai, "That Girl in Yellow Boots" is the moving story of the travails of a white-skinned foreign girl named Ruth who comes to India in search of her Bengali father who was a photographer.

Playing the role of Ruth, Kashyap's partner Kalki Koechlin - born to French parents in India - has turned in yet another stellar performance after her role as Chandramukhi in Kashyap's "Dev.D".

The winner of the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress in "Dev.D" and fluent in Hindi, Kalki - as Ruth - plunges into the maze of complex Indian milieu with the single-minded goal of finding her father.

She bribes bureaucrats to get her tourist visa extended, learns parlour massage to service men in the back alleys and supports a useless, drug-addicted boyfriend even as underworld sharks eye this fair-skinned girl. Sexually explicit dialogues flow freely in this film which has been rated 'adult' by the censors.

"Though some buyers abroad have suggested that I should have extended the boundaries of the film by showing sex scenes, I told them that's not my aim. My aim is not to show nudity, my aim is to convey the message and provoke people. Even in 'Dev.D' all such (sex) scenes were shown off camera. My idea is to push my own boundaries," said Kashyap.

"The problem with Indians is that someone using the f-word in English is considered fine, sophisticated. But if the same person uses the f-word (as done in 'That Girl in Yellow Boots') in Hindi, it is considered foul. We have to mature as a society."

Taking potshots at Bollywood films, the ever restive director said, "Our problem is that we still make juvenile films...Our understanding of what is titillation and what is vulgar is very warped. Whatever makes the Indian male socially uncomfortable is termed vulgar. But if you have pelvic thrusts and (raunchy) music, that's okay with him as entertainment. A classical example is 'Kambakht Ishq'."

Indian audiences need some shock therapy to get them out of their comfort zone, he said.

"Kabhi-kabhi audience ko jhatka lagna zaruri hai, tabhi bade honge. We need more films like 'That Girl in Yellow Boots' to shock people...they will react angrily...there will arguments and counter-arguments and ultimately (get) some maturity."

Kashyap said he was inspired to make the film after reading about the story of a German girl who came to India over three years ago in search of her lost father.

"Kalki fleshed the script by bringing in her experiences as a white girl born and raised in India," he said.

Maldives' 'Shah Rukh' cools heels in Goa

Maldives' 'Shah Rukh' cools heels in GoaSeaxan Ali has never met Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. But the lean, muscular actor, arguably one of Maldives' top stars, ought to know what it means to be like 'King Khan' back in Maldives.

Mobbed often back in Male, Seaxan, who is billed as Maldives' Shah Rukh, is in Goa to be part of the South Asian Film Festival, where his movie "Jinni" is being screened.

"Maldives has learnt to speak Hindi because of the Bollywood influence," Seaxan told IANS.

The actor added that he, along with other filmmakers in Maldives, was looking at joint ventures with Bollywood.

"There are already so many films being shot in Maldives. A part of 'Kites' (Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori starrer) was shot in Maldives. So there are a lot of exchanges between the two film worlds already," Seaxan said.

Cooling his heels in absolute anonymity in Goa, the actor, who has worked in Maldivian remakes of Bollywood films like "Hingodani" (inspired from the Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Dhadkan') said that the meagre 300,000 population of Maldives was one of the handicaps behind the inability of the Maldivian film industry to grow as per expectations.

"We do not have a big market. With a population of just 300,000 our film industry is handicapped, unlike Bollywood which takes its films to crores of people not just in India, but worldwide too," Seaxan said.

In terms of finances, a typical Maldivian film can be made within a budget of Rs.5 lakh to Rs.8 lakh (Maldivian rupees). "Only those who are really successful in the Maldives film world can afford to live off films alone. The rest have to struggle," he said, adding that annually eight to ten films are made in his country.

Having won the the Maldives National Film Award twice, Seaxan has now begun to tinker around with production and direction. He has already directed "Karunavee Beyvafaa", which he says was a hit at the box office back home.

Seaxan has now started Seaxanal Movies, a movie producing company and is looking to invest money in film projects back home.

"Thirty years ago this day my dad died. Never said wot I should be. I want to be a gentle & funny father more than any other title. Miss him lots," the 44-year-old actor posted on his microblogging site Twitter Sunday.

Shah Rukh's father had died of cancer.

"On days when issues surround me that need strength...I wish he was here to beat up all. My dad was the strongest...& the handsomest. I don't remember my dad's skin...his touch or his voice anymore. Only his eyes...& his smile...full of promise that he will always be there," he wrote.

The superstar, who is married to Gauri and has two children - son Aryan and daughter Suhana, also urged fans to give a hug to their fathers at least once a week.

Dabangg success to be celebrated: Arbaaz Khan

Posted: 19 Sep 2010 03:12 AM PDT

Dabangg success to be celebrated: Arbaaz KhanSalman Khan starrer "Dabangg" has hit the bull's eye at the box office and the film's producer Arbaaz says they are planning to celebrate the success.

"Yes, we're going to have a celebration very shortly. So far because of the way 'Dabangg' has gone, we haven't been able to plan out full details. But yes we will invite all our friends and colleagues. We want to share our happiness," said Arbaaz.

There are many firsts attached to "Dabangg" - this is Arbaaz's first production venture, Abhinav Kashyap's first movie as a director and it also launched Sonakshi Sinha as an actress.

For Arbaaz, "Dabangg" is not only a family achievement, but a personal triumph too.

"To be finally recognised for my work is a feeling I can't describe. Personally, I had never dreamt the film would become so big. If you say the film has been a success because of the way it was marketed and because Salman is liked in action roles, I'd have to disagree. Salman went all out for 'Veer' as well," he said.

"As for action, yes 'Wanted' was a success in the action genre. But not to the extent of 'Dabangg'. Besides action 'Dabangg' had the comic element, great music (by Sajid-Wajid) and the girl (Sonakshi Sinha) has been immensely liked. Who knows what it is? All I know is that me and my family are looking at one of the biggest hits of the industry and we'd like to believe the entire industry shares our joy because a hit of this magnitude means prosperity for the entire industry."

When asked about the guest list for the impending bash, Arbaaz said: "Ideally, we'd like to invite everyone in the film industry. But that would mean a guest list of 15,000 to 20,000 people. We can't manage that. So we'd restrict ourselves to all our friends. Trust me it would be quite a list."

The guest list may include the Bachchan family, Shatrughan-Poonam-Sonakshi Sinha, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, Sanjay-Manyata Dutt, Ajay Devgn-Kajol, Karan Johar, Rani Mukerji, Hrithik-Susanne Roshan, Imran Khan and his fiancée Aavantika, Rishi, Ranbir and Neetu Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor.

Bollywood Diva Priyanka Chopra enjoyes doing different things

Bollywood Diva Priyanka Chopra enjoyes doing different thingsPriyanka Chopra loves challenges. Doing the same thing every day makes her bored, says the actress who now enjoys numero uno status in Bollywood.

"Doing something different is what makes acting fun. I get bored of doing the same thing every day myself," Priyanka told IANS in an interview.

"So when you are challenged with something, you want to perform better, you want to do well. And when you get success out of something which is hugely challenging, the satisfaction and gratification is tremendous. I think that has been an ambition for me," said the actress, who is currently hosting an action-adventure show "Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi 3", aired on Colors.

The show is shot in Brazil and involves many challenging tasks, including fighting off creepy crawlies, as well as underwater and mid-air stunts.

Priyanka was here at the Kingdom of Dreams to promote her upcoming film "Anjaana Anjaani", where she has teamed up with Ranbir Kapoor for the first time. It is releasing Sep 24.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, "Anjaana Anjaani" is about two strangers who bump into each other when they are going through the lowest point in their lives, and have gone to the same place to commit suicide.

"With so many suicides happening it is a topic of discussion in India now. The greatest thing about this film, I feel, is that it is the window which shows you shouldn't do that (commit suicide), you never know when life will turn around.

"Give yourself an opportunity. This message is conveyed in a beautiful way through the film," she said.

Priyanka says it is flattering to see oneself on top, but she works very hard to be there.

"Being number one is always flattering. I work really hard. I come from nowhere. I come from a very normal middle-class background. I am an army officer's daughter. It feels great to see where I have reached now. God has given me so much; I feel really blessed," Priyanka, 28, told IANS.

Priyanka insists her journey to stardom has not been an easy one.

"It is definitely difficult when you arrive in the film industry without knowing anyone. There is nobody coming to you and saying 'ok, I am making a film for you'. When people don't like your work, you are written off. However, at the end you are only known by the work you do," she said.

Priyanka made her Bollywood debut with the Sunny Deol-Preity Zinta starrer "Hero: Love Story of A Spy" in 2003 and won her first Filmfare Award for best female debut in "Andaaz", starring Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta, that released the same year. After that there was no looking back for the former Miss World.

With her films like "Aitraaz", which won her the Filmfare award for best villain, "Muzhse Shaadi Karogi", "Dostana", "Don" and "Kaminey", she proved she could not be taken lightly.

She played 12 different roles in Ashutosh Gowarikar's "What's Your Rashee?" opposite Harman Baweja. Although the film did not do well, her acting was largely appreciated.

Her performance as a struggling model, who goes on to make it big in the fashion world at the cost of her ethics in Madhur Bhandarkar's 2008 film "Fashion", won her a National Award.
