Ganesh Chaturthi 2010 India Celebrates!

Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi 2010 falls on September 11, Saturday. And the whole of India is gearing up to celebrate the festival with proper fanfare and of course adhering to the tradition.

While the northern half may not be lucky enough to get a week long holiday on account of Ganesh Chaturthi, the south is definitely having a fun-filled mini-vacation as we celebrate the birthday of Lord Ganesh. Click here Ganesh Chtirthi 2010 Greeting, Photos

Beginning on the Shukla Chaturthi the celebrations continue until Anata Chaturthi in the Hindu month of Bhaadrapada. Also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, the festival marks the birthday of the God of wisdom and prosperity. The festivities are a sight to behold specially in the states of Maharashtra, Goa & Karnataka.

The Mumbaikars are already in full swing preparing to welcome Lord Ganesha amidst themselves on Saturday. Nearly a month ahead of the festival artisans start working on clay idols of the Lord Ganesha that are then sold. Huge mandaps are set up where beautiful images of Lord Ganesha are decorated. The podiums are ideally decorated with banana leaves and the like. Mostly youngsters revel in the festivities having no school to worry about. Educational institutions too hold puja on Ganesh Chaturthi where the students are also invited to take part.

Earlier the festival was revived in the British period so as to unite the Indians and make us aware of our rich tradition. The move was initiated by the great freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak. In order to help the Hindus breakdown all barriers and come together, he had declared that Lord Ganesha is indeed the God of one and all.

But these days the festival is rather commercialized as the puja mandaps bear a very sophisticated look with modern music systems playing remixed bhajans! Youngsters happily dress up and derive ample pleasure from the fact that it's a holiday but fail to understand the true meaning of the festival.

Yet the devout stay true to their faith and offer prayers to Lord Ganesha to bless them.
The festival ends with the immersion of the clay idols in a water body on Anata Chaturthi as the sad worshippers bid adieu to their favourite God asking Him to grace their lives early next year.

So this year indulge in the celebrations for Ganesh Chaturthi and wish you near and dear ones. Send special Ganesh Chaturthi greetings to your friends as you celebrate this festival. And do take care of the sound levels in you puja mandaps, such that they don't disrupt the local neighbourhood.

And if possible refrain from polluting the waters of the rivers when immersing the idols as this endangers many aquatic as well as human lives in the long run. Our team wishes you a very happy Ganesh Chaturthi!

Yamuna Swells, Dikshit Asks Delhites To Stay Calm

Posted: 09 Sep 2010 09:34 AM PDT

Yamuna Swells

The Yamuna river is swelling alarmingly but the Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has assured the Delhites that the situation is quite under control and there is nothing to worry about.

Since Wednesday the river is rapidly rising as water is being released from the neighbouring state of Haryana.

Thursday saw the Yamuna at a level of 204.73 at around 2pm. The water level is continuing to rise. The CM has however assured that action has been taken already to safeguard the lives of the low-lying area inhabitants.

The sate is on alert and every possible measure is being taken to minimize any loss of life or property.  Speaking to the press Shiela Dikshit said that people have been shifted to safer locations already.

Delhi Flood Control Minister Rajkumar Chavan said: “The water level will continue to rise for the next two days, but there is nothing to worry as we are on alert and our authorities are maintaining strict vigil on the Yamuna levels.”

Though many have likened the situation to the floods of 1978, Chavan denies any similarities. At that time the dam had suffered damages unlike this year, when the Yamuna's rising water level is being kept under supervision and the state is already on a high alert.

Chavan also said: “Apart from shifting people from low-lying areas, a hundred booster water pumps have been pressed into service to pump out the water.”

The Chief Minister said that although the situation is one of concern, specially since the state is hosting the Common Wealth Games this year, enough precautions have been taken so there won't be any mishaps.

The special screening of the 1966 blockbuster Teesri Manzil had Asha Parekh at her nostalgic best and she chose Kareena from the current crop of leading actresses to essay her role in case the movie is remade.

The radio mirchi sponsored event also had Shammi Kapoor, Amir Khan and the mellifluous Asha Bhosle in attendance and the movie which was directed by Vijay Anand had all of them come together to fondly remember the days gone by.

The recollections ranged from fond memories to those which had the celebrated actress see hard times. Asha Parekh was highly appreciated for her role in the thriller and had some of the most memorable songs picturised on her.

The 67 year-old actress renowned for her dances and acting skills, made the choice after much consideration saying all the actresses had so much talent in them making it impossible for her to choose one but since the role would fit most on Kareena Kapoor, she had to name her. Talking about the song 'Aajaa Aajaa' she remembered getting down with an allergy and having to take a lot of medicines to shoot it. She had a hard time since a lot of portions of the song were shot together and in a short span of time because of her condition. The incidence remains fresh in her memory till date and the actress of the hit movie has no qualms if a remake comes up.

The movie Teesri Manzil was a terrific hit and the thriller can be a crowd-puller even now. So let Kareena and her producers take note and go ahead with Asha Parekh's blessings.

Dabangg Movie Review: A Complete Package

Posted: 09 Sep 2010 03:40 AM PDT

Dabangg

Dabangg

Dabangg deals with the much talked about subject of the fight between the good and evil but with a twist. This topic had been a hit formula for the movies of 1970s and 1980s. a lot of us have grown up watching these masala flicks that was the major need of the cinema-goers in those decades.

These wholesome entertainers vanished for quite a while from the Box Office just making their presence felt here and there with recent movies like Ghajini and Wanted. But Dabangg is a yet another stepping stone in this genre.

Dabangg has a rustic appeal to it, is action-packed and deals with the old mother-son and other relationships of half brother-step father and finally to the issue of retaliation. Various songs have smartly found their way in the movie which also includes an item number. So, it is the old stuff but with a polished packaging which is further enhanced by the mere presence of the debonair Salman Khan.

Salman Khan comes in a totally new avatar in Dabangg playing the role of Chulbul Pandey alias Robin Hood. The three rock solid bases of Dabangg are: the angry and dashing Salman, the breathtaking stunts and the foot-tapping music.

The fans of Salman Khan will not be even a bit disappointed; he has worked even better than their expectations. Their star has come back with a complete movie which is sure to set new records at the box-office.

Dabangg is set in the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh where a valiant but utterly corrupt police officer Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan) functions with totally unconventional methods. But even he comes with a bitter load from his unhappy childhood. He lost his father at a very young age which led to the entry of his step-father as his mother (Dimple Kapadia) married Prajapati Pandey (Vinod Khanna) and his half-brother Makhanchan (Arbaaz Khan).

Prajapati always takes the side of Makhanchan which averts Chulbul from his step-father and half-brother to the extent that he ends up breaking all his ties with them. He is solely attached to his mother. But her demise leaves him bitter which further severs their relations.

Rajo (Sonakshi Sinha) comes as a fresh change in the life of Chulbul which slowly changes his perception towards life. Chulbul becomes optimistic and starts to realize the importance of a family. But his archrival Cheddi Singh (Sonu Sood) has some other plans in design for him and sets the two brothers against each other which lead Makhanchan to commit an act without being forewarned of its dire consequences.

It is only after carrying out the act; Makhanchan realizes that he was just a puppet in the hands of Cheddi Singh and turns to Chulbul. But will Chulbul join hands with him to thrash away the detractors.

The promos of Dabangg have brought the true picture of the movie to light. It is no doubt a paisa vasool entertainer. The plot of Dabangg has nothing unusual to boast of but Salman comes as the great savior that makes us overlook the shortcomings of the movie.

S. Vijayan's stunts are really commendable and the score by Sajid-Wajid is already hitting the top of music charts. Dabangg also has an additional song by Lalit Pandit. And the third pillar of the movie is the action sequence of Salman Khan beginning from his introduction to the climax that will surely make the audience jump out of their chairs. The finale fight where Salman's shirt is torn apart gives us an impeccable sight of his ripping muscles. The climax is surely a cherry on top of a well-baked cake.

As it is not easy to place songs in an action-packed movie, Sajid-Wajid's score finds a very adept place in the movie. The title song, "Tere Mast Mast Do Nain" and "Munni Badnaam" (composed by Lalit Pandit) sound very pleasant to the ears.

Director Abhinav Singh Kashyap is at his best. He has come up with a thorough entertainer that is sure to make its way to the hearts of the viewers. It is not easy to deal with a formula that has been dealt with numerous times before. But he has made a flick that acts as an old wine in a new and refreshing bottle. Cinematographer Mahesh Limaye is in his element. And the editing of Pranav V. Dhiwar is thoroughly professional notably during the action sequences. Not to forget the dialogue delivery, especially by Salman, will be applauded by the cinemagoers, in particular, "Itne chhed karunga."

Salman Khan has an innate mass appeal. This film shows his true colors to the full extent. To put it simply, Dabangg will prove to be a benchmark in his career and take him ahead from the shadows of MAINE PYAAR KIYA, HUM AAPKE HAIN KOUN, TERE NAAM and WANTED.

Sonakshi Sinha is also worth a mention. She is new and fresh and comes up as a confident actor opposite Salman. She manages to grab the eyeballs even under the towering presence of Salman and other well-established star cast. Arbaaz Khan really plays well his part. Sonu Sood provides a complete match up to Salman. And the finales fight between Salman and Sonu simply awe-struck the audiences, to say the least.

Vinod Khanna delivers superbly in his role that has overtones of grey. Dimple Kapadia has given yet another wonderful performance. Anupam Kher is, as usual, very good. Same for Om Puri. Mahesh Manjrekar is not fully explored. Mahi Gill is manageable. Tinnu Anand is really convincing. Murli Sharma is nice. Malaika Arora Khan simply sets the screen on fire with the "Munni Badnaam" track.

In short, Dabangg is a complete entertainer with a never-seen-before Salman Khan, superb action sequences and a great music score. Dabangg is sure to be declared a hit at the box-office as a through and through masala movie.

Star Cast: Salman Khan,Sonakshi Sinha,Arbaaz Khan,Sonu Sood,Vinod Khanna,Dimple Kapadia,Mahesh Manjrekar,Om Puri,Anupam Kher,Tinu Anand,Mahie Gill,Amitosh Nagpal,Malaika Arora, Rating: 4.5/5

Google: All Set To Retort Its Competitors With Its Latest Innovation Technique

Posted: 09 Sep 2010 01:51 AM PDT

Google

Google

Owing to burgeoning cut throat competition from rivals like Microsoft's search engine Bing world's No. search engine Google has decided to enhance output potential of every internet search.  Our trustworthy DLN sources went to the headquarter of Google and enquired in this regard. At being asked about the latest updating being introduced for Google sources told us that Google has decided to increase speed of every search made on internet using Google manifolds.

The technology which is likely to be used for increasing the result speed for every internet search will surely lure lion users everyday. The main reason behind it is that Google will take almost 2 to 5 less seconds in fetching the result of every internet search.

This paramount decision was a real need of the time for the survival of search engine giant Google. Other search engines like Microsoft Corp, Yahoo Inc and Facebook are attributable for this metamorphism.

The latest technique that is likely to be used for this purpose provides Google ample ammunition and resources in terms of giving more advantages as well freedom to the internet surfers and advertisers.

This innovation in Google has been given a name Google Instant. During the presentation Mayer compared this innovation with Automobile's Power Steering. In addition to it he said that once you get habitual of it so it becomes very difficult for you to get rid of it because it becomes a regular part of your life. But during the testing of it some users decided to turn this feature off.

This latest innovation has been launched in the United States of America.  Moreover, this advancement can serve the user local weather forecast facility at his screen. So the users will no longer have to bank upon TV for knowing about local weather forecast. For this purpose user simply need to type letter "W" in the search box. But if the user keeps on typing some other word so the page will automatically refresh and take the user to the page of his concern even before he presses Enter button.

This is not the first time when search engine giant Google has added new arrows in its bow. Before this Google has already provided its users the facility of presenting the queries related to alphabets typed by the users in the search box. In this way Google helps its users in finding directly the pages that concern them most.

Some market experts like Stifel Nicolaus and Jordan Rohan say that this innovation of Google is not only going to give Google an edge over its competitors but it will also make life for other competitors incredibly difficult. In addition to it in this way Google will be able to increase its market manifolds.

Search engine giant Google is facing seriously stiff competition from Microsoft Copr and Yahoo Inc. in addition to it some renowned social networking sites like Facebook are also giving cut throat competition to Google.

Owing to this competition Google's shares have gone down up to 26% in comparison to their 52 week high $629.51. So these social networking sites and Yahoo Inc and Microsoft Corp are proving this giant merely a Two-Bit Search engine for internet queries,

Moreover, it has not only bothered Google itself but its investors also who are investing heavily in it. But the biggest botheration that has got into the mind of investors is its high profile disagreement with China this year over the issue of censorship.

This is nothing because so far whatever has happened in this matter so just a small trailer of what can happen in future in this matter. Now Google's legal chief has called for putting extra pressure on the government of all those nations who are involved in censoring the internet like China and Turkey. In accordance with the mindset of legal chief of Google blocking access to the websites is not only a violation of human rights but it also restrains the trade of US.

Has Google Been Interrupted?

Google executive made it crystal clear that the search engine giant is not likely to change the order in which its search engine displays the web pages. Despite this lots of changes that have been made in Google are really the cause of concern for some of the websites and advertisers who business is likely to get affected with this change significantly.

But Kevin Lee who is the Chief Executive of Didit believes that Google was already fielding calls to it s all clients because Google is managing the business of search Advertising spending that is nearly of $160 million.

In addition to it Mr. Lee said that everything is ok with the latest changes being brought by the search engine giant but still one question worries me a lot. This question is that will it not distract the users from the information about which the users were initially fishing for? Moreover, will it not end up derailing all the searches instead of refining it?

But one more thing is there and it is that all the advertisers have to take care of all the users visiting their websites. They also have to notice that is the user of the same sort that they were looking for initially.

Last year with the help of its simplicity Google generated the revenue of nearly of $24 billion.

At the end of it Google said that this latest innovation in our search technology will be available in countries like UK, France and many other countries. Moreover, this latest technology innovation brought by the Google will also shortly be available with the version that for Smart Phones also. Google has made it clear that it will be available in the months to come.
