Federal and state offices are closed in celebration of Columbus Day.  It is a Federal holiday.  Some local and county offices may be open. But it is a good idea to call ahead and be sure.  You don't want to waste gasoline on a trip and find the office closed. Here is a short list of institutions and their status today: Banks – Closed – although teller machines will still work. Post Offices – Closed – Some Post Office lobbies may be open for automated vending machine purchases. Mail deliveries – No – Remember, the Post Office is closed. Courts – Closed – Today is not a good day to get arrested; actually, no day is, but you won't get that bail hearing today. It is the word that reflects the current scenario. One can use the word for the latest happenings. Like we have contemporary music, for example, we can say Vishal- Shekhar, Salim –Suleman, A R Rahman are contemporary music directors that means they compose fresh, new and that music which is loved by the new generation. Then contemporary word is used for dressing as well. For example, 'We like to dress in a contemporary style'. Toyota vs. GM Posted: 11 Oct 2010 05:16 AM PDT Okay, which do I invest in Toyota or GM? I am not very smart about such things. I also have an aversion to entrusting my money to people and companies that are so big they wouldn’t miss my money if they lost it. It seems that the current wisdom is to invest more overseas.  Is that right? In, ’02 there were about $1 Billion dollars that went into foreign funds. In ’05 it was 155 times that amount. Holy moly! But 401K asset mixes typically allot only 6% to international markets. There is at least one giant market that is growing much faster than the US and that is in….China. No mystery there. And Japan is starting to finally wake from its 15 year nap as well. Toyota or GM…that’s a no brainer. But, how do I learn to trust other people with my money?
