sweat equity average professional background Posted: 18 Apr 2010 06:16 AM PDT Sweat equity is a term used to describe the contribution made to a project by people who contribute their time and effort. It can be contrasted with financial equity which is the money contributed towards the project. It is used to refer to a form of compensation by businesses to their owners or employees. The term is sometimes used in partnership agreements where one or more of the partners contributes no financial capital. In the case of a business startup, employees might, upon incorporation, receive stock or stock options in return for working for below-market salaries (or in some cases no salary at all). The move comes at a time when Tharoor is facing a tough time with opposition demanding his sacking from the government and the Congress party, which has already ordered a probe to look into his role in the entire controversy, contemplating future course of action. The source said that Sunanda was not directly in touch with the IPL officials regarding the offer. The offer is being made through Rendezvous Sports World. When you're getting started, sweat equity is often a critical component of your negotiating leverage with co-founders, early stage employees and others who aren't paid market wages to help you grow your business. As the business owner, you should be the expert on valuing sweat equity, not your investors, accountants or lawyers. Here are some tools for tackling the challenge. When determining the value of the sweat equity provided by an employee or potential co-founder, first assess these three characteristics of the person in question: Commitment: Is he or she committed to being a founding partner for the long haul? Unique contribution: Does he or she bring specialized knowledge, skills, leadership ability or experiences that you don't have? Hopes and dreams: Are his or her hopes and dreams for personal wealth, business success and autonomy the same as yours? If not, are the differences substantial enough that they'll pull the company apart? "She had an average professional background. She was an ordinary office-going girl," Gupta said, adding that at the time the surgery was performed (July 2000) Pushkar worked as a "sales girl" for a small real estate firm in Dubai. "She only paid the clinic charges," Gupta said, surprised that Pushkar could strike it big in only 10 years. Pushkar is believed to have worked in an IT firm in Canada before migrating to Dubai about 10 years back. Beyond that, not much is known about her professional background, except for the fact that she worked as a sales manager at Dubai-based Tecom Investments, which is a subsidiary of Dubai Holdings. Sanjay Raina, a professional Delhi-based pop singer, and Sunanda got married in the mid-Eighties. Just before their marriage, which did not last very long, the two worked for a Delhi-based hotel company. Sunanda and Raina dated each other in Srinagar and Delhi where she earned a Bachelor of Art degree. he source said that Sunanda was not directly in touch with the IPL officials regarding the offer. The offer is being made through Rendezvous Sports World. The new Rendezvous Chairman Harshad Mehta is in touch with the IPL officials regarding the matter. Interestingly, senior Union Minister Sharad Pawar, IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi and I S Bindra are in Dubai currently to attend an ICC meeting. Donner Party Members Consumed a Family Posted: 18 Apr 2010 05:39 AM PDT The Donner Party (sometimes called the Donner-Reed Party) was a group of American pioneers who set out for California in a wagon train. Delayed by a series of mishaps, they spent the winter of 1846–47 snowbound in the Sierra Nevada. Some of the emigrants resorted to cannibalism to survive, eating those who had succumbed to starvation and sickness. Detailed analysis of the bones instead found that the 84 Donner Party members consumed a family dog, "Uno," along with cattle, deer and horses. Cattle, likely eaten after the animals themselves died of starvation, appear to have been their mainstay. The study is the first to show that the Donner members successfully hunted deer, despite the approximately 30 feet of snow on the ground during the winter of 1846-1847. The horses are thought to have come from relief parties that arrived in February and could have left a few of their animals behind. Three years before the Gold Rush, 87 pioneers took a shortcut westward to California, only to get caught in the snows of the Sierra Nevada. The emigrants' fateful journey culminated in death and cannibalism. Capt. J.A. Sutter's launch which arrived here a few days since from Fort Sacramento— we received a letter from a friend at that place, containing a most distressing account of the situation of the emigrants in the mountains, who were prevented from crossing them by the snow,— and of a party of eleven who attempted to come into the valley on foot. The writer, who is well qualified to judge, is of the opinion that the whole party might have reached the California valley before the first fall of snow, if the men had exerted themselves as they should have done. Nothing but a contrary and contentious disposition on the part of some of the men belonging to the party prevented them from getting in as soon as any of the first companies. Some says Donner Party group of emigrants to California who in the winter of 1846-47 met with one of the most famous tragedies in Western history. The California-bound families were mostly from Illinois and Iowa, and most prominent among them were the two Donner families and the Reed family. In going West they took a little-used, supposedly shorter route after leaving Fort Bridger; the route proved arduous and and they were delayed. They suffered severely in crossing the salt flats W of Great Salt Lake, and dissensions and ill feelings in the party arose when they reached what is today Donner Lake in the Sierra Nevada. They paused (Oct., 1846) to recover their strength, and early snow caught them, falling deep in the passes and trapping them. Their limited food gave out, the cold continued, and the suffering of the group, some two thirds of them camped on Alder Creek and the remaining 22, including all of the Donner family, camped at Donner Lake, grew intense. Tammy Lynn Michaels Hollywood closet door slammed Posted: 18 Apr 2010 05:33 AM PDT Tammy Lynn Michaels (born Tammy Lynn Doring on November 26, 1974 in Lafayette, Indiana), also known by the surname Etheridge after marrying Melissa Etheridge, is an American actress. Michaels was a regular cast member on the Warner Brothers Network television show Popular and guest-starred on the Showtime drama The L Word. She poured her heart into journals, which she keeps to remind her of how far she's come. At age 18, she left Lafayette, Indiana for New York City and acting conservatory school, ready to make her mark on the world. "[My mom] dropped me off and as she drove away, I said, 'Okay, I'm going to be gay now.'" Unfortunately, at one of her first attempts to be out, she had the Hollywood closet door slammed in her face. Not yet able to shed the fear of stepping out into the light, Michaels lived the classic double life. I caught up with Michaels, three years out and three years in love, while she was in Tampa with wife Melissa Etheridge on tour. We chatted about those dark years, her lesbian bar-tending days, her new sit-com, married life and living life out in the open. Shortly after the finale of Popular last summer (the show was canceled after two seasons due to poor ratings), Michaels was outed by girlfriend Melissa Etheridge in an interview with People Magazine. Prior to this, she was in fact very closeted, as she discusses in her lengthy interview with a staff writer of the website Television Without Pity: "If you go back, you can read the interviews I did when I was in the closet and I was so terrified. Before I'd do them, all my managers and all my agents would be like [frantically], 'Don't tell them you're gay! You'll be ruined! You'll never work again! You'll be working at McDonald's in a month!' I was so terrified....Also it's weird because I was never out before and none of my girlfriends were out. When I was closeted, it wasn't just hypocritical and un-PC, it was also killing me." In a statement Thursday, they asked for "consideration and respect for our family as we go through this difficult period." The two held a commitment ceremony in Malibu, Calif., in 2003. Tammy Etheridge, 35, gave birth to twins a son, Miller, and a daughter, Johnnie Rose in 2006. The couple used an anonymous donor from a sperm bank. The 48-year-old singer shares custody of daughter Bailey Jean and son Beckett with former partner Julie Cypher. Musician David Crosby was the sperm donor for the children, who were delivered by Cypher. Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Lynn Michaels exchanged vows in Malibu in September 2003. She then went by the name of Tammy Etheridge. Tammy gave birth to their children – son Miller and daughter Johnnie Rose – in 2006, after Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer. The Grammy-winning singer is also mother to two older children, Bailey, 13, and Beckett, 11, with her previous partner Julie Cypher. Felipe Lopez great hitter that struggles for a week Posted: 18 Apr 2010 05:23 AM PDT Felipe López (born May 12, 1980, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican Major League Baseball infielder for the St. Louis Cardinals. Lopez was a 1st round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays (8th pick overall) in the 1998 Major League Baseball Draft. López made his major league debut on August 3, 2001, and played second base and shortstop part-time. On February 27, 2010, López signed a one year deal with the St. Louis Cardinals. Lopez's base salary will be $1 million plus performance incentives of $1.2 million. On April 17, 2010 Lopez started against the New York Mets at shortstop, was moved to third base and then began pitching in the top of the 18th and pitched 21 pitches in a game which was scoreless at the time. Although the Cardinals eventually lost the game in the 20th, Lopez pitched a scoreless inning, giving up only a hit and a walk. Lopez's slam wins game for Cards: Felipe Lopez hit a grand slam in the seventh inning to back Chris Carpenter's sterling outing, and the St. Louis Cardinals rallied against the New York Mets bullpen before holding on for a 4-3 victory on Friday night. The Mets led 1-0 on the strength of an unearned run and stingy work from Oliver Perez before Lopez hit his fifth career grand slam off 32-year-old rookie Raul Valdes. His first homer of the season came on a 2-1 pitch and landed in the visitor's bullpen in left. Lopez finished 2 for 3 with one walk. He also had his fourth double in the game. March 16, 2008- Felipe Lopez is being honored by the NY Knicks with the 2008 Latino Community Leader Award....more details to be announced. Feb 11th-17th , 2008- Felipe Lopez is in New Orleans participating in NBA Cares Day of Service, Basketball Clinics and other great NBA All-Star activities. August 3-5th, 2007- Felipe Lopez is participating in Eduardo Najera's Charity Weekend in Mexico. July 21-23 , 2007- Felipe Lopez is up in Vancouver, BC participating in the The Steve Nash Foundation Charity Classic "The only thing was that the sooner he is vintage Carp', the better," said manager Tony La Russa. "But we know what Chris is, just like if you have a great hitter that struggles for a week or 10 days, the sooner he starts hitting, the better chance you have to win, but you know those guys are going to hit. You know he's going to pitch. I think he did a lot of good things today as far as having a feel for his pitches and moving the ball around." The Cardinals were shut down for six innings by left-hander Oliver Perez before finally coming through in the seventh. After David Freese started the inning with an infield single, his third hit of the game, Joe Mather bunted him to second. Perez was lifted by Mets manager Jerry Manuel, but Fernando Nieve hit pinch-hitter Skip Schumaker and walked pinch-hitter Matt Holliday to load the bases before lefty Raul Valdez entered to face Lopez. Strikeforce Brawl What's up, where's my rematch, buddy Posted: 18 Apr 2010 04:01 AM PDT MMA fighter Jason 'Mayhem' Miller lived up to his nickname tonight during a Strikeforce card aired on CBS. Miller got into a post-fight brawl in the cage after after a fight between Jake Shields and Dan Henderson. The cause of the Mayhem Miller post-fight brawl remains unclear. After the Shields-Henderson fight, Mayhem Miller got into Shields' face. Shield pushed Miller and all hell broke loose. How Did the Mayhem Miller Brawl Start? Mayhem Miller interrupted a Jake Shields post-fight interview. Miller says, "What's up, where's my rematch, buddy?" The director quickly cuts away from the scene. Just as quickly, the director cuts back to the cage where chaos reigns. Miller seems to have mixed it up with Nick Diaz and other members of Shields' crew. Jason "Mayhem" Miller + Nick and Nate Diaz = disaster. After Jake Shields upset Dan Henderson at Strikeforce Nashville Miller decided he would come into the cage and challenge Shields. Bad idea. All of Shields teammates were in the cage celebrating and didn't like that Miller decided to crash the party. Will Mayhem get the shot at Shields after tonight? We'll see. Scott Coker has gone on record stating that Miller would face Robbie Lawler. I'm sure there will be a lot of fallout from this in the next few days. I know everyone thinks that the melee afterwards was accidental and provoked by Jason Miller but I can't help to think that Coker or someone high up in Strikeforce ladder set it up on purpose. Flame away if you will but hear me out first. 1. Strikeforce knows that the UFC is the creme of the crop right now and the only way to get "more" exposure and than they already have is to stage a brawl that the entire MMA community would see. 2.This brawl is publicity that will get them on local news throughout the nation and even ESPN. It may be negative publicity, but it is still PUBLICITY. There is nothing better than having the most amount of people knowing about your product. 3. Coker takes risk, he took a risk with Hendo, Fedor, Mousasi, and now Aoki. 3 of those elite competitors have lost and that only leaves Fedor. This planned brawl is the type of risk that someone like Coker would take. tags: strikeforce nashville, strikeforce, dana white twitter, strikeforce results, mayhem miller |
