Box office report: Delhi Belly leading over Bbuddah Posted: 02 Jul 2011 11:21 PM PDT Aamir Khan's impeccable reputation as the producer of quality and hatke films ensured greater footfalls at theatres playing his latest production Delhi Belly. In contrast, Amitabh Bachchan's home production Bbuddah - Hoga Terra Baap failed to attract as many bums on seats. Delhi Belly, starring Imran Khan, Vir Das and Kunaal Roy Kapur, has taken a flying start at box office. The film released at 1200 screens and saw the occupancy of 70 to 90 percent. Moreover, the critics have given their thumbs up to the film -- both the English version and the dubbed Hindi version -- which will attract more crowds to theatres on Saturday and Sunday. The film is made on a budget of around Rs. 30 crores and is expected to have a very good first weekend collection. On the other hand, the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap has fared just average. The film opened to an audience response of 30 to 40 percent in the morning but there were greater numbers in the evening shows on Friday. The reviews haven't been much flattering either, though some critics seem to have liked the film a lot. The movie is made on a budget of around 10 crores (excluding Big B's fee) and has already earned Rs. 14.75 crores from satellite and music rights. The film's box office collection is expected to go up on Saturday and Sunday. The final figures of its first weekend collection will be available on Monday afternoon. The last week's release Double Dhamaal has rounded off its first week with a collection of Rs. 36.50 crore net, which is a decent figure. The coming week would see the release of Murder 2, starring Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez, and Chillar Party, co-produced by Salman Khan. |
