| The Guardians of Free Republics Threatening the Governors of America Posted: 02 Apr 2010 10:56 AM PDT  Guardians of the free Republics In a threat letter released by a group called the Guardians of Free Republics, FBI reported that 30 Governors have been warned to be removed from their positions else they'll do it themselves. Among the governors, those of Louisiana and Michigan have also been targeted. Texas Governor Rick Perry also received a threat letter regarding the same. A deadline of three days is mentioned in the letter. No specific threats of violence have been stated but implications are being taken seriously. Even a suggestion leads to the real action in such cases. |
| April 2 to be Celebrated as the Autism Awareness Day Posted: 02 Apr 2010 09:23 AM PDT  World Autism Awareness Day With the intention to raise awareness regarding Autism, United Nations declared April 2 as the World Autism Awareness Day. Autism is classified as a complex neurobiological disorder which continues throughout the person's life. The initiative was taken by the heads of the State of Qatar which tabled a motion regarding the resolution which was adopted on December 18, 2007. There was a consensus from all the UN member states regarding the initiative. Autism is considered to be a global health crisis and the activities scheduled for the day intend to create the necessary awareness regarding its early diagnosis and intervention. People affected by the disease present their unique skills and talents to mark the occasion in events throughout the globe. The person who suffers from Autism has his/her ability to communicate impaired and no medical cure for it has been discovered yet. Though early diagnosis and intervention can be of some help. People prefer to wear blue on this day to raise an awareness regarding the occasion. |
| Google’s Topeka Name Change Brings A lot of Name and Fame for the City Posted: 02 Apr 2010 08:55 AM PDT  Google's Topeka Google has had its history of amazing people with their innovative humor and they did it again on the April Fool's Day with their name change to Topeka, based on a city of Kansas. The irony is that people had a difficulty locating the place on Google Maps itself. The event which lead to such a happening was the decision of Topeka's mayor to change its name to Google for the month of March to persuade Google to set up their broadband project trial in their city. It was a reciprocity of goodness that Google took its decision to rename itself on the city. Such incidents reveal the light side of Google for it has always been famous for i.e humor and fairness. The fame that Topeka ended up garnering through the whole exercise comes as an added bonus. In terms of PR, it is kind of a pinnacle for them. The city of Kansas has warm heartedly showered praises on Google on its website. Rest assured, whenever the weather be rough for Google they will always have a city which can call it as their own. |

A public relations executive – Bity John said: “On Good Friday we have wide-ranging prayer services in the church to honor the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, which we believe brought salvation to all”. “People also fast on this day. Many, like me, have been observing strict dietary restrictions like not eating non-vegetarian food for the past 50 days. Others have been doing the same during this week which is called Passion Week,” Bity John said IANS. Fasts will end on Sunday when people celebrate Easter that marks the rebirth of Christ. Maundy Thursday meaning is the Christian feast or holy day that falls on the Thursday before Easter that honors the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles. Maundy Thursday is also known as Holy Thursday, Covenant Thursday, Great & Holy Thursday, and Thursday of Mysteries. Robin Paul said “Good Friday is of great significance to the Christian community because it signifies the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The day also reminds us, therefore, of the importance of giving alms and practicing charity to help the less fortunate". The organizations (the Indian Christian Action Forum and Poor Christians Liberation Movement) said "Good Friday is a time of repentance when the faithful are supposed to admit their guilt and find ways for improvement. Hence it is appropriate to seek justice from the church in India for the poor Christians who have been wronged by bishops’ policies”. In the absence of PM, Manmohan Singh, Pranab Mukherjee disclosed "I am optimistic that the measures I have outlined in this year's budget will revive private investment and put the economy back on the growth path of 9 per cent."
