Eloy Vargas committed to Florida and played

Posted: 15 May 2010 03:27 PM PDT

Vargas spent last season at Miami-Dade Junior College, averaging 25 points and 15 rebounds. As UK's power forward prospects came and went, Vargas' name kept popping up. Then, UK scheduled a visit for Vargas this weekend, and leading up to the visit, Vargas' other high major suitor, Arizona, dropped out. Many speculated that a commitment could be in the offing.

Saturday afternoon validated that speculation, as Evan Daniels, followed by multiple other outlets, reported that Vargas has indeed committed to the 'Cats, becoming the fifth member of a class that now looks positioned to garner a #1 national ranking, a duplication of that same feat from last season.

Vargas is a 6-foot-10 center/power forward from Hollywood, Florida who played nine games for Florida in 2008-09, averaging 0.6 points per game, then left Gainesville and played at Miami-Dade College. Vargas was the conference player of the year at Miami-Dade after his team finished 12-14.

The 2010 class just got the size they were lacking in the front court. Vargas will get plenty of playing time and I actually expect him to become the starting PF by the start of the season.

Coming out of high school in the 2008 class, Vargas was ranked No. 26 overall. He committed to Florida and played one season then transferred to Miami-Dade College (JUCO).

Preakness Post Time victorious last year

Posted: 15 May 2010 03:20 PM PDT

Calvin Borel the jockey for Super Saver has experience with winning. He was victorious last year at the Stakes with Rachel Alexander, and feels that Super Saver will be victorious today. Following close behind in the Preakness Picks is Lookin' at Lucky, who was a strong favorite at the Kentucky Derby, but could not perform well on the muddy track. The weather in Baltimore today is warm, and at Preakness post time the track will be dry.

Based on some of the Preakness odds this 2010 Preakness Stakes, it appears that Kentucky Derby 2010 winner Super Saver horse is a top pick. This will serve as a pressure to Super Saver horse's jockey Calvin Borel who is still not yet finished in celebrating his victory in the Kentucky Derby 2010. Also included in the Preakness top picks are horses such as Aikenite by jockey Javier Castellano and Schoolyard Dreams by jockey Eibar Coa. If I would have to participate in this Preakness picks betting game, definitely I would choose Super Saver since the horse already won. While there may be no connection between the past wins, Super Saver exhibits as one of the best picks among Preakness Odds.

The Kentucky Derby 2010 winner, Super Saver, is the crowd's favorite to win for the Preakness Stakes held this May 15. Todd Pletcher, trainer of Super Saver will seek his second win in the Triple Crown which has and award of $1 million purse. After Super Saver as the favorite to win the race is Lookin At Lucky followed by Northern Giant and then by Yawanna Twist. 2010 fields 12 horses instead of the usual 13 since a horse was lost early in the week due to injury. The Preakness Stakes 2010 will be telecasted on NBC by 4:30 pm EST this May 15th.
