With Times Square becoming a sensitive area after the Car bomb scare, the suspicious package found on Friday afternoon caused much hype. Though the package in the end turned out to be a food cooler with packets of water bottles. The fabric cooler was found just blocks away from the failed car bomb found on Saturday night. The New York City Police was quick to take action and arrived with their bomb squad just before 2 pm. Employing a robot to x-ray the food cooler for bomb found the results to be inconclusive. The bomb squad technicians found the contents to be harmless after a later inspection. The television highlights of the incident showed that the streets were cleared and all the precautions were taken for the safety purpose. The area has been put in close scrutiny after the car bomb scare. | ||

In his speech President Obama referred to the kind of community building and tremendous effort the military spouses had to put in to make the wartime efforts a success. The role of the Military spouses is not just limited to their wartime effort but keeps on continuing for the next generations. They tend to care a lot more for the wounded soldiers and the heroes which gave their life for the nation as they are better able to understand the cause. They become the pillars of strength for people whose family is involved in the wartime effort in any which way.  Playtex Bras Playtex Bras is set to launch its new campaign which will target making the women find the right bra of the right fit. The newly launched campaign includes a 'bra makeover' by famous stylist Alison Deyette. The initiative is being taken by the Night Agency and will feature a series of online episodes on there site. One new web episode will be featured every two weeks and will have one of the main ten candidates getting the right fit of Playtex product along with Deyette. Playtex has also launched a social media marketing campaign on Facebook and YouTube. The campaign on YouTube sees one Facebook fan winning a free Playtex bra and the videos section has Deyette in feature. The campaign which will go on till May 21 will give the winners and opportunity to fly to New York for the fitting with Deyette. Cops tell the package is at 46th Street & Broadway, an only some blocks from where the previous SUV & unsuccessful car bomb was established Saturday night. TV footage demonstrates quite a few streets vacant of traffic. Cops did not instantly provide additional facts. Times Square evacuated 2nd time in last 6 days. The recall is applicable to only those with an expiry date of May 12 or earlier. The lettuce recall was initiated after a possible contamination by E. coli bacteria which have affected some 19 people, according to the statistics produced by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. According to police, several people informed the police control room about the car parked at the Leisure Valley, frequented by morning and evening walkers and visited by tourists, here in Sector 10. A police official said a police team reached the spot and took it to the Sector 3 police station. A bomb blast warning was written with black chalk on the car door but no explosives were found inside, the official said. It was later found that the car belonged to a woman doctor, who told police that she had left her car in the parking lot and had gone for a walk when some mischievous elements had written the ‘warning’ on the vehicle. Police have started an investigation and recorded the statements of various eye-witnesses. | ||

A source at the Marriott Marquis hotel told CNN that an abandoned cooler was left outside. The source said the bomb squad was trying to determine if it was a threat. At least four streets near the area were closed for traffic. The evacuation comes six days after an SUV with explosives was left in Times Square resulting in the arrest of Faisal Shahzad, 30, an American citizen of Pakistani origin. But when the rug people came to gather, as per the court case, the rug had been marked by “spilled or dripped red wine.” As per the docs, Mansour alleges Bruce’s people allege they didn’t damage it with wine — but the rug people allege the patches certainly didn’t survive when they initially supplied it. Yet, Mansour alleges they’re trapped with a marked rug — and they desire Bruce to compensate for it … entire price!! Marty Singer, Bruce’s lawyer, says his Bruce did not buy the rug … it was supplied to his house on consignment. And, Singer tells the rug wasn’t harmed or dirty but Willis yet proposed to clean it. | ‘Badmaash Company’, smartly made but flawed in parts (IANS Hindi Film Review, Rating: ***) Posted: 07 May 2010 11:00 AM PDT Film: ‘Badmaash Company’; Starring: Shahid Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Meiyang Chang, Vir Das; Written & Directed by: Parmeet Sethi; Rating: *** There’s a longish sequence in an American eatery in the second-half of this deeply flawed and yet refreshingly cool urbane casual and yet highly cinematic work where Shahid Kapoor’s Karan, by now on the road to seemingly irredeemable moral degeneration is told by his partner, played by newcomer Vir Das, that he wants out. The way that sequence progresses and the manner in which the two actors play out a conventional friends-falling-apart moment, just makes you forgive all the excesses of inflated self-worth that the script suffers from in the last 90 minutes of this endearing though exasperating experience. ‘Badmaash Company’ is a film that is too smart for its own good. The main characters, four friends bonded by the collective will to grow rich overnight, go through a series on caper experiences. Not all of it is either convincing or even interesting. After a point, we know exactly where this quartet is hurling to. And the slide out of moral degeneration is never touching enough to make us shed a tear for these misguided over-reachers. The doom comes none too soon, and then the narrative proceeds without a proper graph. By the time Karan (Shahid Kapoor)’s spunky girl Bulbul (Anushka Sharma) leaves him the script begins to look like one of those subverted morality tales from the house of the Bhatts where the heroes talk with clenched fists and heroines weep in their pillows as their companions come home in a drunken stupor. We’ve been here before. But wait. There is a sense of intuitive cockiness about the narrative which just sees the film’s improbable mixture of the trendy and the trite to the final stretch of predictable moral redemption. There is a sense of the predictable and yet the unpredictable in the storytelling. Debutante director Parmeet Sethi’s screenplay is one of those things that you want to believe merely because it sounds so smart on paper. But not all of this makes complete or even incomplete sense. The climax about colour-bleeding shirts being sold to America as the Next Best Thing is much too far-fetched to work even as a part of a con caper. Nonetheless ‘Badmaash Company’ has a lot going for itself. The first-half when Karan meets Bulbul, Zing and Chang to create an instantly materialistic energy, gets you interested in these out-of-control lives. You don’t quite empathize with their overweening goals. But at least they seem to know their minds, even if on occasions the plot doesn’t seem to know what it’s doing. There’s something pitch-friendly about the four actors and the way they tackle the plot material, sometimes cool sometimes over-reaching itself. If the film holds together it’s because of the bonafide enthusiasm and unconditional surrender to the proceedings of the actors. Shahid Kapoor pitches in another perfectly poised and subtle performance even though his character’s graph gets blurred towards the end. You can’t stop caring for Karan’s character because Shahid doesn’t let go of his centre even when the narrative gets shaky. Anushka Sharma in a stunning makeover conveys her character’s spirit and spunk through her well-toned body language and that twinkle in the eye. Tragically a lot of her speech and morality, and this goes for a lot of the film’s careless periodicity, is not 1980s(the film’s setting) at all. Vir Das as the film buff with a roving eye negotiates his character with gentle care. Here’s one actor who knows what he’s doing even when his character doesn’t. And Meiyang Chang as the chinky-eyed alcohol guzzling Gangtok-guy seems made for his character. ‘Badmaash Company’ is an extremely smart and smart-looking film. But its sassy all-knowing tone cannot hide a certain bankruptcy of genuinely inventive ideas. This is a fatally-flawed film about seriously flawed characters. The packaging is glamorous but not over-done. The dialogues convey a ring of truth without bending backwards to be cool. ‘Badmaash Company’ has enough going for itself to make it an experience worth our while. | ||
| Army Officer Involved in Child Pornography; Arrested Posted: 07 May 2010 05:17 AM PDT An Army officer has been detained alleged of indulging in child pornography, police told today. Balbir Singh – Lieutenant Colonel Jagmohan, who was detained yesterday on grounds of a complaint, was remanded in police detention till May 12. Police sources said he had supposedly uploaded some offensive images on the Internet. Balbir Singh has been charged under Sec 67(B) (child pornography) of IT Act. The officer was working with the Army's supply and transport wing in south Mumbai's Kolaba. |
