The kites film is reportedly a high budget movie and has world rights valued at $30 million. Kites movie is about an Indian youths romantic liason with a Latina girl named Salsa and their story as they do not understand each other's language. The second half of Kites movie has way too much of the son who chases his fiancée and her new lover over stunningly stark new Mexico landscapes. Meanwhile those two have morphed into Bonnie and Clyde – they rob banks and steal cars. And the plot settles into a repetitive cycle of chase scene—love-scene—chase scene. There is one particularly weak shoot-out between cops and bounty hunters, which feels like a left over from B-grade American television and an over- stylised climactic shoot-out in the rain, which echoes Sam Mendes' Road to Perdition. This assortment is baffling mostly, swinging you up and down like a yo-yo. Because when, in the middle of a situation where our protagonists risk losing their lives, we suddenly hear the background score turn flirty and the camera shows us a random character's comical expression. Or the time when the central characters hijack a car at gunpoint, only to have the owner charmingly turn interpreter between them. Not to be mistaken for dark comedy, this kind of insinuated humour is only trying to be cute; admittedly you tend to ignore these intrusions into the real story. Kites's essential flaw is the story unfolding at a pace that's too relaxed. One is certain this would have been a far better film with snappier editing. But then how many films do you see where you can remember the characters long after the film is done? Linda and Jai's love story unfolds predictably, but there's a rebellious innocence to it that draws you. Indeed, the film is at its most fun when we're soaking in the playful chemistry between the two central characters. Worth the ride. Hrithik is staggeringly handsome and director Anurag Basu frames him in the tightest of tight close-ups. There is of course the requisite dance sequence and bare torso scene but even in moments of anguish, Hrithik's blue-green eyes are ablaze.Hrithik Roshan is spectacular. And yet the film doesn't become more than the sum of its parts because the second half is flat and in places, outright foolish. Still I recommend that you see Kites. 45°C temperature in Ahmedabad today: Heat wave claims one life (21 May 2010 – Ahmedabad – Hotcurrentnews.com) Most of the parts of the Gujarat state were reeling under severe heat wave which claimed one life in the last 24 hours, while the highest temperature recorded today reached 47.7 degrees in Idar taluka of Sabarkantha district of North Gujarat. A 70-year-old named Kanti Waghela died due to heat stroke in Bhavnagar district yesterday late night, district officials said today.Waghela was riding his bi-cycle when he suddenly collapsed near Rupam Chok in Sardarnagar area and died, they said. Doctors said that this was result of heat stroke, officials said. According to the Indian Meteorological department (IMD), the severe heat wave conditions would prevail for the next 2-3 days.  45°C temperature in Ahmedabad today The temperatures soared to 47.7 degree Celsius in Idar taluka of Sabarkantha, while Deesa in Banaskantha recorded 46.5 degree Celsius today. Madan Tamang Ethnic Gurkha leader, killed in daylight attack in eastern India Madan Tamang, a top ethnic Gurkha leader was stabbed and killed Friday by unidentified attackers on a busy street in eastern India, a state official said. Madan Tamang was repeatedly stabbed in the hill resort town of Darjeeling in West Bengal state while on the way to address a public meeting, state Minister Ashok Bhattacharjya said. Madan Tamang, head of the All India Gurkha League, had been a top leader in the 1980s campaign seeking a separate state for ethnic Gurkhas in West Bengal. But after several rounds of talks, the group settled for greater autonomy within West Bengal. Madan Tamang’s supporters launched protests Friday in Darjeeling after news of the slaying spread, police officer Surajit Kar Purkayastha. “The situation is tense, but under control,” Purkayastha said.
