America’s Got Talent’ in Big Apple: a review Posted: 09 Jun 2010 05:41 AM PDT ‘America’s Got Talent’ team went to Big Apple, nickname for New York city, the city that gave birth to great talents like Christina Aguilera, Al Pacino and The Marx Brothers. Though, this time, the tour to one of the biggest and brightest city on earth went a bit lighter for the judges of the show, but it has some really excellent, and never-before-acts performed by the contestants there, and thus getting some sweet bites in the big apple. Some of the best performers: 'Fighting Gravity' was the best of the best pieces ever presented at the auditions. A group of students, mainly Management and Engineering students presented the never-before-act before the judges. The dancers, in their act, appeared to be floating in air, and interacting with green tennis balls in the dark. Prince Poppycock also caught a lot of attention when he arrived on the stage. He dressed up as a prince from the Baroque Period. His face was completely painted white and lips were bowed. Well, as he made his entry, everyone expected that he would present something comical and everyone was waiting for him to open his mouth. But when he opened the mouth, he pushed out operatic voice; really fantastic and more funny than presenting jokes. He really made the people laugh with him, rather than laughing on him. Doogie Horner, a rare million dollar talent. He turned up the audience, by his act. Well, a really big and rare quality, and very difficult to see in a show at this level. He turned the audience, well, initially a silent and talking mix of people into a great support. The performance that gave the audience more than a ton of excitement! He came with a full-beared foolish look and stood-up on the stage. He then suddenly began throwing comments and one-liners to the audience. The audience also came back. In no time, the mob became active and animated, and the witty person threw back the things to the mob, and very rapidly, he started sounding very funny. In less than two minutes, the ugly mob turned to a single uniform voice, shouting, “Vegas, Vegas!” The judges were greatly impressed by the performance, and his ability to take around the crowd. Meg Whitman eyes Governorship in California Posted: 09 Jun 2010 05:15 AM PDT
Meg Whitman, a former eBay head has won the GOP primary elections and is now headed for the governor race. The Republican candidate will face former governor and current state Attorney General Jerry Brown in the final showdown. Alongwith Whitman is another Republican eyeing the Senator post after the victory at the primaries. Carly Fiorina too is a millionaire business woman who has remained the CEO of Hewlett-Packard. She will count her chances against three-term Sen. Barbara Boxer in the senatorial run. Both have reportedly spent considerable money during their campaign and Whitman has set a record in this regard with a whopping $71 million. Both the women claim to set the economic scenario straight with their practical experience in both financial and labor matters. However, they did not shy away from criticizing the rivals, with Whitman terming Brown as a failed politician. Brown had retorted by saying that just by being rich and restless no one can become the governor. Fiorina too went ahead with her share of opponent bashing by accusing Boxer of supporting financial restraints. She also revealed her own agenda to press for lower taxes, thus giving the citizens more freedom in spending their hard earned money. |
Glamour Women awards: ‘bellytalk’ lowers the spirits Posted: 09 Jun 2010 04:42 AM PDT James Corden and Sir Patrick Stewart caught the attention of the audience for the wrong reasons at the Glamour Women awards ceremony. The Gavin and Stacey star was hosting the show when Star Trek actor Sir Patrick cracked some nasty comments at him after coming up on stage to present a gong for Film Actress of the Year. The theatre veteran mocked at the host's presentation and etiquettes that were rather uncalled for in front of a distinguished audience that included the likes of Cheryl Cole, Billie Piper, Christine Bleakley and Lily Allen. Corden was asked by Sir Patrick to change his posture of putting in his hands in his pocket that gave a disinterested impression while the recipients came up on the stage. Things didn't seem to end there with Sir Patrick continuing to comment that he could see Corden's belly from his seat among the audience. The host seemed to get impatient when he finally retaliated, ”You could see my belly. I can see you dying right now.” But Sir Patrick was in no mood of a defeat. He laughed at Corden's obsession of Nick Jonas and warned him to cover his belly for a better chance. Corden still trying to show off his comic spirits, then offered a view of his belly to the dumbstruck audience. The war of words between the actors left audience totally surprised. Some felt it utterly entertaining, while some could not hold back the shock. |
