Dolph Briscoe Jr. (87), Ex Texas Governor died Posted: 27 Jun 2010 10:50 PM PDT Dolph Briscoe Jr Dolph Briscoe, 87 years old previous Texas Governor’s relatives say the 2-term conservative Democrat has passed away at his Uvalde, Texas house. Family spokesperson Ann Arnold tells he died Sunday after a long time illness. Arnold says Briscoe had been admitted to hospital in Jan this year and had came back home recently. Dolph Briscoe was Texas gov. from 1972 to 1978, presiding over Texas throughout an oil & gas bang previous to suffering a dramatic Democratic primary upset in 1978 to John Hill.
