Ted Stevens loses life at the age of 86 in a plane crash Posted: 10 Aug 2010 11:45 AM PDT On Tuesday, Ted Stevens, the longest-serving republican in the U.S. history, was killed in a plane crash in Alaska. The republican lost his seat owing to reasons of corruption. The reason was later covered up by some other news. According to a source, the plane which crashed and carried Stevens, also took lives of four other people. But later the source revealed that he was not sure that all the five are dead. The flight crashed in Southwest Alaska. Ironically, Ted Stevens, the republican, lost his wife too in a plane crash which also carried four other people. The tragic incident took place in the year 1978. The Learjet crash in Anchorage, took his wife’s life. Alaska made Ted very famous. He had pet names and was nicknamed "Uncle Ted" and the State Legislature named him "Alaskan of the century" in 2000. The Airport Anchorage too recognizes him by the same name. The politics in Alaska have been greatly inspired by Ted Stevens. Capitol Hill, Alaska was the place where Stevens tenure was put up to. The republican, though a great man, was a very short tempered man. He earned a lot of fame after the corruption trial incident. |
Its Honda Recall time once again Posted: 10 Aug 2010 05:04 AM PDT Its time for another Honda Recall as the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that is NHSTA has declared that 384,000 cars from the automotive manufacturer Honda will be recalled back following complaints and accidents that were caused because these models have an ignition interlock mechanism that is defective causing the vehicle to roll off. The harked back models include Honda Accord and Civic (2003) and Element released in the years 2003-2004. The declaration by NHSTA was backed by their findings into the matter that followed for a time span of 2 years. NHSTA investigated into 15 crash complaints of the vehicle Honda Accord in the year 2008. With the further increase in the cases that reached to 36 in 2009 the agency continued with the inquiry reaching to this conclusion. The automotive manufacturer Honda acknowledged to the findings and agreed to follow the recall orders. Chris Martin the company's spokesperson also said that in the near future they will work on these models and change their area of defect by replacing the interlock pin and lever system with a restyled version that will keep the vehicle from getting turned off without being on that mode. It was last week that Honda called back 585 cars of the 2010 version of the Honda Element to fix some faulty settings related to the shift lever. Records have it that this is not the first time that Honda models have been recalled back; in fact there have been many similar recalls in the past years as well. |
PEEPLI [Live] Review: A mocking satire on political and media savvy India Posted: 10 Aug 2010 04:59 AM PDT PEEPLI [Live] Review: The most popular actor in Bollywood Aamir Khan makes it a point that while he engages in making interesting movies with all the fun, good storyline and excellent acting and other essential ingredients, he doesn't miss out on his moral responsibilities towards the nation and its people. If you don't believe thus then have a look at his last couple of movies like TAARE ZAMEEN PAR where he discussed the mind of children who are suffering from a rare disease or 3 IDIOTS where he attacked the education system of the country. Latest in to follow in this tradition is Anusha Rizvi directed PEEPLI [LIVE] which tales up the sensitive issue of farmer suicide so much prevalent in India which is shamelessly used by political parties as voting agenda to gather more sympathy and more votes from the downtrodden. This sensitive issue is also exploited by the TRP hungry news channels who feel it's their birthright to showcase the misery and agony of the farmers and their suffering family members. Peepli live is the story of a poor farmer Natha [Omkar Das Manikpuri] who decides to end his life so that after his death his family members can benefit from the government grant. But the situation turns worst when everybody right from the politicians to the journalist and the bureaucrats become part and parcel of this show where no one is concerned about how Natha feels. Everyone wants their own share. The movie is a mocking satire on this sensitive issue so popular in rural India. PEEPLI [Live] Review Ratting: 4/5

Aamir Khan has been missing out from the promotional campaigns of his upcoming flick Peepli Live with people guessing what has suddenly gone wrong since the movie is expected to be releasing soon. But the news has it that Aamir is ill with high viral fever that is keeping him away from work. The actor earlier messaged through the social networking site Facebook out about his helplessness and his utter doomed feeling following the illness that has struck upon him. He even cancelled out his live chat that he had arranged for with fans on Facbooke. On the chat the actor was going to talk about his upcoming flick but doctors advised him to instead take rest as the fever hit a high 103 leaving the actor with no other alternatives. Even though he not there for the schedules but his wife and an active member of the movie Kiran Rao handled out all the cast members and was also present at one of the functions related to the film. Before Aamir fell sick the perfectionist Khan was in Australia chalking out a deal for Peepli Live since the movie is not simply a Bollywood product but instead the actor wants the flick to be conceived on a world wide platform. The actor also expressed his worries for the school in Leh where Aamir shot some of the final scenes of his movie 3 Idiots. His movie Peepli Live is in the form of satire revolving around a farmer who commits suicide. |

Anjaana Anjaani and Crook called it quits for the same release date Posted: 10 Aug 2010 01:05 AM PDT The big battle between the much awaited Ranbir Kapoor starrer Anjaana Anjaani and our famous serial kisser Emraan Hashmi starrer Crook seems now to be postponed. This is not the first time it's happening that a release date for a film has been changed to avoid a clash with another strong contender for the box office hit. The release date for Crook: It’s Good To Be Bad, which revolves around the racial discrimination issue in Australia against the Indians, has been readily agreed to be shifted from its original release date, the 24th of September to the new one on 8th of October. When questioned about the instant change of plans the famous producer Mahesh Bhatt, who has produced this film too said that it's not wise to go for a clash when on the other hand you do have a good opportunity for a solo release on the 8th. A similar incident had taken place when Karan Johar changed his plans for the release of "we are family" when he came to know that the Salman starrer Dabangg was due for this September 10th. The famous producer maintained that he is not emotional about the change because he is a business man first and has to take decisions which are best suited for his film and its success. |

The company on late Monday criticized the step to raise the fee for the visa saying that this was pure discrimination on US part and that it does not means a fair competition in the market. |
