Aashayein: A Preview of John’s Latest Flick

Posted: 25 Aug 2010 11:18 AM PDT

Aashayein

Aashayein

'Aashayein' is the latest flick to be released this Friday. So why not sneak a peek and see what is it that John Abraham has got himself into this time? Here's the movie preview.

The story of 'Aashayein' is said to be involving love& hate, life & death (yeah, yeah I'm already yawning) and of course hope! So 'Aashayein' is the story of a man i.e. John Abraham's discovery of what life is actually all about (hopefully the audience should be able to guess what this movie is all about).

He plays the role of a compulsive gambler Rahul Singh who lives a boring insignificant life until fate turns the dice and whoa! Rahul is all enlightened now. The cast includes the lead girl-Sonal Sehgal, who is the oh-so-loving, caring etc girlfriend of Rahul. You will find Farida Jalal, Girish Karnad and Anahita Nair in various roles in 'Aashayein'.

While Prateeksha Lonkar plays Rahul's caring sis Grace, we have Ashwin Chitale essaying the role of a 10 yr old mischief-monger Govinda(couldn't they find a better name at least??).
The storyline of 'Aashayein' sounds pretty clichéd and with John Abraham in the lead, you can never say.

With music by Salim-Sulaiman 'Aashayein' should have some 'hope' of survival. A lot is expected of director Nagesh Kukunoor who has given us inspirational movies like 'Iqbal' and 'Dor'. I guess he will be able to weave some sense and newness to this movie. Watch this space for the movie review of 'Aashayein' coming soon. Meanwhile let us know if you think the movie will be a hit or get shelved into the unknown as happens to John usually.

Hello Darling shocks Gul with an “A” certificate

Posted: 25 Aug 2010 10:52 AM PDT

After a long time, bollywood is all set to watch a sex comedy, Hello Darling, based on a very serious issue of sexual harassment at work.

The movie is backed by Subhash Ghai and though he confirms that the movie doesn't have any explicit sexual connotation but the censor board has given it an "A" certificate, indicating that the movie should be only viewed by adults.  Gul Panag, the leading lady is quite furious about this whole issue.

“Honestly, the fact that HELLO DARLING has been given an ‘A’ certificate came as a news for me”, says Gul who had earlier worked in an adult comedy titled STRAIGHT, “When I last spoke to my director (Manoj Tiwari), we thought that the film was getting a ‘U/A’ certificate. Now that I am told that it is for adults only, I am really surprised. I don’t know what actually transpired eventually.”

Many opine that's since the movie has three hottest women (includes Celina Jaitley and Eesha Koppikhar) from bollywood, so it's getting such certificate and the issue, taken up, sexual harassment, seems to have roused doubt about the viewership.

CHECK OUT: HELLO DARLING Movie Preview

“Yes, HELLO DARLING definitely carries a theme of sexual harassment but then it doesn’t have anything overtly sexual which would end up arousing people”, Gul defends her film, “I haven’t seen the entire film though but based on what I have shot, I know for sure that the aesthetics have been maintained".

In the movie, Hello Darling, Gul Panag plays the role of a research head in a company, whose boss; Javed Jafferi makes sexual advances to her but Gul straights him up teaming up with the other two ladies.

The sex bomb is heard to be charging over 1 – 1.5 crores for a movie!

Ashok Thakeria, the producer of the sequel discusses money and says, “Mallika said she will take anything we give her. She’s just happy to be a part of brand like Dhamaal and that too opposite Sanjay Dutt.”

the Producer also talks of the second actress in the film – Kangana Ranaut who plays opposite to Riteish Deshmukh, “Kangna’s work is looked after by Rakesh Nath (Rikku). My director Indra Kumar and I go back a long way with Rikku (Rikku was secretary to Madhuri Dixit who starred in Thakeria-Indra Kumar’s Beta and Dil). So Kangna said money was not an issue here.”

Thakeria is highly excited about his new sequel project on having such a start cast and has a lot to speak about the film. He says, “Instead of having a proper workshop with the actors, Riteish suggested an informal get-together at his home. All of us barring Mallika (who is in LA) and Sanjay Dutt (who is in South Africa) from the Double Dhamaal team – Kangna, Javed Jaffrey, Ashish Chowdhry, Indra Kumar and I met up at Riteish’s house for a script reading. We were cracking up after every line. It was that funny.”

Flood in Delhi causes havoc among residents of low lying areas

Yamuna Flood

Yamuna Flood

When the water level of the river Yamuna crossed its point of danger, the residents had to face the occurrence of a flood in Delhi on Wednesday. The danger level that is 204.8 meters jumped over a marked rise causing the low lying areas to be eventually submerged under water in the capital. The rainfall in the city was recorded to be 617 mm, which is markedly much higher this year during this season in comparison to the previous years.

When the river crossed its banks the low lying areas of the city were plunged into water leaving the residents complaining that the authorities weren't helping them out of this situation. Apart from the increased level of rainfall there is another aspect that has resulted in this flooding situation and that is the release of water by Haryana into the river Yamuna consequently making it rise above its usual level. One of the flood affected resident said that the release of water by Haryana is only three folding the trouble which will not decrease in any way. Even the buses were partially underneath water and the people were seen using boats to carry their belongings to another place.

Meanwhile the Bijnore district of Uttar Pradesh is only suffering an even worse condition due to the floods. Because of the water logging, people have been cut out from their usual life in many villages across the district. But the revenue officer of a village in the district said that the situation is under check as the people have been evacuated from areas that are immensely flooded.

Suriya, the favourite Tamil superstar who has ruled the Tamilian's heart with his breath-taking acting skills is now honing them further with a sincere attempt at learning circus manoeuvres. This is in preparation for his much anticipated venture titled The Seventh Sense which is homage to the talented Raj Kapoor in his unforgettable role in Mera Naam Joker.

Moreover, he also wishes to let the public be aware of his freshly acquired skills by organising a public show to advertise them and let the people see for them his dedication and hard work in preparing for his film. This film which would be released in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil is based upon a circus life and Suriya has tried to learn all the tricks of the trade. He now claims to be able to walk the Trapeze, juggle with precision 6 balls and also the dangerous fire blowing act from the mouth. Suriya simply loves the jugglery bit.

The film's Director, Murugadoss, who's now presently working with Suriya in Coimbatore at a live circus, confirmed the news that the superstar has clearly indicated his plan of going public and he has every intention of carrying it out. He further informed that Suriya has been meticulously working for the past 6 months with a circus veteran. He used to show up every day for a couple of hours to train Suriya in the learning process of becoming a true performing artiste in a circus. Murugadoss also explains that Suriya had to work extra hard to learn various things since his character in the film doesn't just stick to one discipline.

Suriya never took it as an inconvenience and strived hard to attain the required level of perfection. Now, he enthrals his kids and friends alike with his tricks. His skills would be out for the entire public to watch at the music release function for his film. He is very keen on assuring his fans that the stunts are for real and not doctored in any way.

In fact, Suriya even won praises from circus artistes for whom he performed when he was idle in Coimbatore. They were amazed at his finesse at a discipline they have dedicated their entire lives for. Murugadoss can now proudly claim to have worked with two perfectionists, one Suriya and the fabulous Aamir Khan. Well, we wonder if it isn't the turn of one take Akshay Kumar next.

Suriya said, “I actually went and stayed with a circus, the Great Bombay Circus. Do you know there are only 7-8 circus companies remaining in the country? It’s frightening how popular entertainment like television has ousted its traditional counterpart. I loved learning circus tricks specially jugglery. I don’t want people to think it is special effects.”

Traffic jam china: no rescue for the stuck vehicles for few more weeks

CHINA

CHINA

In what could be termed as the worst traffic jam of the last few years, China is at the receiving end. The country has been declared to be the no 2 biggest economy of the world but currently is facing a massive traffic blockage in its transportation history.

The traffic jam in china was initiated by a road construction which began approximately 10 days ago and at one point of time was a stretch of 100 kilometers on the roads. The traffic has already reached the outer boundaries of the capital of the country, Beijing and the cars and vehicles on the roads are still slowly moving forward slowly, almost creeping on the roads. These conditions are so pathetic that according to the officials of the government, the situation would take at least three more weeks to reach to normal.

The critics have termed this as the choking of a nation which is engaged in fast growth.

It's one of the worst traffic jams hitting northern china, where the for indulgence the drivers are sitting in their still vehicles and engage their minds in activities such as paying cards, eating food while bargaining the prices from the vendors or else sleeping in the cars and trucks. Some of these vehicles are also transporting fresh vegetables and fruits which may have rotten till now as most of them are in the open without any refrigeration.

Some of the vehicles have been part of in the jam since the last five days at a stretch.

The river Yamuna is notably increasing in its level and has reached a meter above the danger level following which Yamuna Bridge closed above the route of rail and road traffic. Since the water level was on a rapid rise, the people who live by the banks of Yamuna were immediately taken away from the spot. More than 200 people have evacuated the spot and around 1500 people are living in relief camps, 160 in number that have been setup by the government for people who are facing troubles because of the rise in the water level and need shelter as they reside along the banks of the river.

Sheila Dikshit the chief minister of Delhi sent out a message to Delhiites telling them that there was no need to panic as the situation is being readily monitored by the government and also that proper assistance will be provided to those who need help in the form of rescue camps. It was on the 20th of August that the river jumped the danger level and reached the point of 204.83 meters after a prolonged session of rains that have abnormally been very heavy this year during this season in Delhi.

The affected people have been provided with facilities like mobile medical services and also water tanks. Apart from this a unit of Disaster management force along with 68 divers and 50 boats has been put to task so that nothing goes hay way at the time of necessity. Rescue camps have been arranged at places like Badarpur Khadar, Usmanpur and ISBT Bridge. The increase in water level is not just a result of continuous rains but is also due to the release of water into the river by Haryana.

Gayatri Japam Day 2010 Celebration Begins in India

Gayatri Mantra

Gayatri Mantra

The most sacred and revered hymn in the Hindu religion is the Gayatri Mantra. The Gayatri Mantra goes like this:-

“Om bhur bhuvah svah
Tat savitur varenyam
Bhargo devasya dheemahi
Dhiyo yo nah prachodayaat”

Though the hymn can be chanted on any occasion, but the Gayatri Japam Day which is on the following day of Purnima or Full Moon day in the month of Shravan is considered the most sacred for recitation of the mantra. On this day Brahmins who are proficient in any of the Vedas (Rigveda, Samveda, Yajurveda) across India especially South India recite this hymn.

The Mantra is based on the Gayathri who is considered the Supreme Goddess and the Mother Goddess of the Hindu mythology. Earlier every Hindu irrespective of the stage of life in which he is, i.e Celibacy (Brahmachari), Familial (Grihastha) or old age (Vanaprastha) had to observe this day, but nowadays mostly Brahmins observe this day. While reciting the mantra it's mandatory for the Brahmin to wear Janeyu, the sacred thread which is also known as Jandhyam, Yagnopaveeta or Janivar. The mantra has to be recited 108 times. On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan or Avani Avittam also, Gayatri Mantra is recited. In the year 2010, the Gayatri Japam Day has fell on August 25.

Dabangg’s Gruesome and Brutal Action Scenes Leading to’ A’ Certificate

DABANGG , Salman Khan

DABANGG , Salman Khan

whenever a film is launched on the Box office for the audience to accept or deny it the first three days of the shows are very important which decide the fate of the movie in terms of its popularity and therefore no producer or director would like to limit it to only one section of the audience and aim for a universal certificate.

Same is the case with Arbaaz Khan who is very concerned for Dabangg and its certification where the censor board is in the mood of giving an A certificate to the film, arbaaz readily thinks that it is not appropriate for the movie and that its perfectly well made for all kinds of audiences including a family audience.

The movie which would unquestionably be a debut production of Arbaaz, makes him very concerned and protective of him attempt where he readily feels that it is not a film just for the youth and can be enjoyed universally. He also adds that there is nothing in Dabangg which should lead to 'A' certificate for the movie.

The buzz is that the movie has action scenes which are gruesome and too brutal, to enjoy a universal audience and that is why censor board has problems with this movie.

Earlier even wanted was awarded A certificate for the same reason but the film managed to become a box office hit and did a lot of profitable business.
