Teacher’s day: 5th September celebrated as Guruparv in India

Posted: 27 Aug 2010 11:50 AM PDT

Teacher's day

Teacher's day

The auspicious day of 5th September is celebrated with much pomp and vigor by students across the country as Teacher's day, the day dedicated to our very own nation builders who selflessly work all their lives to impart education.

The parents give us the gift of life but it's the teachers who enable us in leading it to the fullest so that we eventually become the leaders in our chosen fields.

The day is originally the birthday of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan and nearly every school in the country gets in to the celebration mode for the day. The renowned man who was a philosophical, theological person who also went on to become the President of India in 1962 and requested humbly to remember his birthday as the "Teacher's day" was just a very astute boy from a small town.  Click here Teachers Day SMS 2010 | Happy Teachers day

He was himself a teacher first and also served in the field of education for the major part of his life. Now we can find many teachers day quotes on the blackboards of the classrooms fondly remembering the great man.

However "teacher's day is celebrated in different countries on different dates and the teacher's day speeches are made by the students to signify the greatness of the day itself. China has September 10th marked for it while Costa Rica has it on November 22nd. Even countries like UAE and Afghanistan have days dedicated to teachers.

The Shikshak Divas as it is called in India is brought alive by the hilarious quotes by Jamaica on the may 6th with students thronging at the schools and colleges with cards for their beloved teachers and no much on their minds regarding studies. It's the teacher who carves out the best in us and recognizes the inherent talents of the youngsters.

Teacher's day poems are hard to miss and the cards with such theme enthrall the brilliant minded ones as well as our regular teacher's in life. The feeling is just hard to express as the fateful day is marked by the mobile messaging generation working up to be highly innovative with the teacher's day messages in circulation.

One can find many school students dressing up as their teachers to role-play for the day and have a chance to live it up to them. The schools go in the no study mode and the quotes are decoratively adorned on the notice boards and classes. The poems have some funny anecdotes sometimes and the Teacher's day messages go on from being serious and meaningful to very funny and creative.

The innovative ways make the day all the more special and it's nevertheless a day soulfully dedicated to just the teacher's and their beloved students as both are interdependent in the true sense.

Monday's episode of the most popular tele-serial Uttaran on Colors which is ruling the roost in the current times, will see a new character of Gaurav Chopra being introduced in the role of a businessman who helps Tapasya.

Tapasya's evil intensions have come out in the open and she now finds herself disinherited by her father and the rest of the family. The banishment leads her to the new and unknown world outside where a new twist in the plot will find her in proximity with the shrewd businessman Raghuvendra Pratap Rathod played by the dapper Gaurav Chopra.

Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar, the daughter of acclaimed sitarist, Pandit Ravi Shankar and a great sitarist herself, has thrown a bomb at the media with the news of her pregnancy trickling in. She's pregnant with the child of Joe Wright, who's a London based filmmaker. She has been dating Wright since December 2009. She would be announcing her first born by spring next year.

Anoushka had admitted in an interview to the TOI the previous year regarding her plans 5 years down the line and she had stated that she saw herself pregnant. It is therefore a surprise that she should implement it so soon.

In an interview which she had given about her relationship with Joe at the time of her dating, she had said, “It’s unexpected and it’s gone really fast, but I’m fully in it.” The news of her pregnancy though brings back memories of her thoughts and reflections regarding the institution of marriage. She had reiterated her conviction in the sanctity of holy matrimony but didn't consider it necessary to bear children.

She had expressed her feelings thus-”I do believe in marriage, very much, but I also don’t believe it’s the only route. Love and relationships have to be defined by the people who’re in them.” She was reportedly overjoyed at the news of her pregnancy and as congratulatory messages started pouring in from her friends and relatives, she replied to them giddy with happiness that, “We are so happy. It feels so ridiculous… I hope and pray everything goes well with this baby and ask for everyone’s blessings.”

It is expected that Anoushka is on the verge of a formal announcement in the immediate future. The only disappointment in this happy melee is the absence of Pandit Ravi Shankar who is currently in California.

His views therefore couldn't be extracted on the subject. Anoushka's manager though made a vague statement saying, “It’s no secret that Anoushka is seeing Joe. But, we can say nothing else at the moment. As and when there’s something to share, we will.”
Hardly anyone could ignore her excited and satisfied status with Joe at the moment. All of Anoushka's recent interviews bear testimony to the fact that the relationship was going more than steady.

Anoushka even acknowledges that she's delighted with the new role she has assumed of being Joe's homemaker. Well, we're still waiting for an official confirmation. Come on Anoushka, don't keep your fans waiting. If you've got any comments on this piece of news, please add in your views below.

Hello Darling Movie Review: A tragedy in Disguise of a Comedy

Posted: 27 Aug 2010 03:38 AM PDT

Hello Darling

Hello Darling

Hitting the audience's funny bone is something that most film makers get a tough time achieving but for a flick like Hello Darling being called a comedy itself is a joke in the face. The Manoj Tiwari directed comedy fails to give what it is supposed to that are hearty giggles and laughs, instead most of the time you will have a smirk instead.

Hello Darling utilizes every bookish trick to gather the attention of the audience but leaving a scene or two the film falls flat at the name of comedy.

The story basically revolves around three working girls by the name of Candy, Mansi and Satvati played by actresses Celina Jaitly, Gul Panag and Eesha Koppikhar respectively who face a common issue at there work place and that is there charismatic play boy sort of boss who is hitting upon them. When watched on screen this readable funny story does not culminate into a watch able funny story with the events portrayed seem to be no less than childish and eccentric.

Another thing that can be pointed in the movie is its weakly bound plot line because even if the writers and director would have packed the flick with a few substantial gags and punches the movie could have been well enough to be tolerated. But guess what whom do you find in the film who is famous for his comical perspective- I mean to say action packed serious acting skills- none other then our very own Sunny Deol who is the boss in the movie, yes boss to the boss. Well at last this movie tries hard to share a laugh or two but unfortunately it falls flat to absolutely no avail.

Two moons 2010: will the night black sky have two bright full moons?

Posted: 27 Aug 2010 02:14 AM PDT

Two Moons

Two Moons

According to the latest predictions this August the nearest plant to the earth, Mars would be at its brightest form and may resemble to a full moon in the night sky to the human eye from the surface of the earth. The famous event has been scheduled for 27 Aug when the planet would be at a distance of 34.65M miles from the surface of our green earth. Therefore don't miss the sky at 11:00 PM on the 27th of August. It will display two moons in the night sky.

After this time, the next 2 moon sky would be only visible in the year 2287 when opne one form this age would be alive to view the spectacular phenomena.

This has been the rumor on the internet for long but the facts for this news is that there was a time on 27 august in the year 2003 when the two planet came very close to each other which if compared to the reading of the last 50,000 years was too close but even then the planet mars did not look like a second complete moon to the human eye rather it is just an exaggeration of the unusual phenomena which was observed in the year 2003 in the night sky of our planet by many researchers.
