China’s Chery Aims at Latin America Market Posted: 26 Sep 2010 11:21 AM PDT China has a new growth point for its fastest growing car maker – Latin America! Chery will open a new factory in Uruguay with an Argentine partner. Efforts will be put into developing the new market says a Chery rep. Latin America has no auto industry of its own and depends solely on imports. Chery also has a deal with the Chrysler Group that will allow Chery to take advantage of Chrysler's sales network. 10-year old Chery has a deal with Chrysler that could make Chery the first export of Chinese made cars to the United States. Russia has bought into the Chery auto with nearly half of all vehicles sold by Chery internationally having been bought by the Bear. Chery sold 52,000+ cars in the first six months of this year compared to 13,500+ in the same period last year. China's fourth largest passenger car maker owns a 7.2% of the market share in China. But…not for long they hope. Would you like to own a car made-in-China? |
Posted: 26 Sep 2010 07:18 AM PDT Chundit….short posts to get you thinking about China, updated throughout the day, but nearly as much as I would like.
And they said that China would not warm up to buying things online…that they couldn't handle, open, bend, break, then pick another. 51 billion yuan worth of sales says something to the contrary. 11:12 am
Chinese would rather have a cell phone than a fixed line…much much rather….try seven times rather. Understandable. I haven't had a fixed line since I got my cell phone way back when. How about you? 11:20 am
Dell, still hurting from HP's move into the number one position has launched a low-cost PC for the Chinese market…($334-520). 12:17 pm
Semicon China highlights growth of China's seminconductor industry….as if we need a special exhibition to let us know. 1:06 pm

2008 Olympic Games security is being tightened….more than 500 days before the games go on. Are we ever really safe? 9:45 pm

On this day, sisters apply sacred tika on their brother’s forehead and pray for their long life. Brothers’ bless their sisters and promise to protect them from all hardships in life. |
Government Officials Sacked in Prostitution Ring Posted: 25 Sep 2010 11:15 PM PDT Two education government officials in China were sacked. It was learned that teachers in their area had forced 23 school girls into prostitution. More sickening – the kids were primary and middle school girls, six of them under 14. One of the teachers (a woman) was a primary school part-timer. She was sentenced to death for operating the ring. The woman's husband was given a suspended death sentence.
The county's head educators were bounced for their lack of supervision. The little ladies were told they were being taken on a school vacation or to experience work on a farm. For their efforts, the gang made $4,400 and they get to die. Teachers selling their kids. Does it get any lower? from Government Officials Sacked in Prostitution Ring

800 Olympic Porta-Pots for 2008 Games Posted: 25 Sep 2010 07:13 PM PDT Somebody sure got a crappy job. Some guy in China found himself on the short list, and then chosen and given the title of "Official in Charge of Environmental Facilitie during the Olympic Games." Whoopee! Parties! Getting naked and dancing on tables. Then he read his job description. 1. Make sure there are enough mobile crappers for Beijing's 14 million and ALL the Olympic visitors. 2. Announce goals for public mobile toilets to go along with the current 8,000 that already exist. 3. Keep the country informed whenever the committee passes a significant milestone. 4. Remember, the job is not finished until everything has been wiped clean. The official announced – "Beijing is working to ensure better toilet facilities for people coming to the Olympics." 800 mobile toilets will be placed around Beijing. Tourist sites and major roads have been included in the plans. And everyone went to the throne room to celebrate. Well, somebody has to do it. Imagine what life would be like if there were NOT enough pots to go around.
