Earthquake In New Zealand: Ferocious Earthquake of 7.4 Velocity Jolts Christchurch Posted: 03 Sep 2010 12:04 PM PDT Nature has once again shown her fury and this time victim of the fury of furious Mother Nature has become New Zealand. Today in the wee hours Saturday morning a ferocious catastrophe jolted Christchurch of New Zealand in the form of awfully powerful earthquake. The velocity of the earthquake was 7.4 on the Richter scale. Christchurch felt this grumpy jolt given by the nature at 4:35 Am in the morning. This powerful and merciless earthquake that has struck the New Zealand has torn the earth apart from inside up to 20 miles at least. According to the geo experts it may be much more then this as this damage is simply is a guess. But so far as the damage is concerned so it is minimal. So damage caused by this earthquake is not enough to affect the schedule of all the flights because the Christchurch airport is completely safe. Everybody is safe in Christchurch as no casualty has been reported so far. But there is a danger of its comeback with distorting force as the aftershocks are still being felt there. In addition to this earthquake has put lot of impact on power supply. Power supply of Christchurch has been affected badly owing to this earthquake. Moreover, this precarious earthquake has demolished so many buildings and turned them into debris. It is surmised that New Zealand can be victim to Tsunami because of this powerful earthquake. But in this regard no warning has been issued by the United States Geological Survey so far. But local administration is still taking all possible measures in this regard so that Christchurch does not face same sort of demolition owing to the furry of the nature in the form of dangerous earthquake like this. |

Cheryl Cole versus Ashley Cole Posted: 03 Sep 2010 05:08 AM PDT The English singer and writer Cheryl Cole and ex husband, footballer Ashley Cole got a quick fix divorce from the London High Court's family division on the 3rd of September. ‘Mallika’: A painful cinematic experience Posted: 03 Sep 2010 04:43 AM PDT ‘Mallika’, directed by Wilson Louis aims to follow closely certain movies tried by the Ramsay Brothers. The film was supposed to be spooky and make the audience jump out of the seats with fear. But neither does happen, instead it makes one realize the torture in sitting throughout the film. The story does like this: Sanjana, played by Sheena Nayyar wants to escape the scary events and nightmares she had been encountering in her house. She opts for a holiday to get rid of the spooky events and locates hersef in a fort cum resort in Rajasthan. But contrary to her thoughts, things start to get wrong there as well and she has to now prepare for the worst. The fort seems to have buried a shocking secret within, which finally unfolds. The film is pain to sit through. There is nothing commendable, not even any performances. Sheena Nayyar is a pathetic actor and Sammir Dattani seems lost. Himanshu Mallik , Rajesh Khera and Suresh Nair have nothing to boast of and so does the rest of the cast. The movie is rather a skin show with every lady dressing up in as less as possible. Bathing scenes are frequent and one wonders if the director was banking on this sole selling point. The songs are forgettable and so is the movie. |

Pancharangi review: An entertaining love story from Yograj Bhat Posted: 03 Sep 2010 04:32 AM PDT
Producer: Yogaraj Bhat, Director: Yogaraj Bhat, Music: Mano Murthy, Cast: Diganth, Nidhi Subbaiah, Priyanka Trivedi, Ananth Nag, Raju Talikote, Pavan Kumar, Sunder Raj, Padmaja Rao, Sudha Belawadi, Ramya Barna Pancharangi is another wonderful creation Yograj Bhat that would leave the audience wanting for more. The innovative filmmaker has done the magic again by telling a simple love story in a gripping and engaging manner. The story centers on a rather lazy boy played by Diganth who is doing his post graduation in philosophy. He once along with his parents he goes to meet a girl for his brother enacted by Pawan Kumar. Meanwhile, he bumps into the girl's cousin portrayed by Nidhi Subbiah. Impresses by Diganth's witty ways she instantly falls in love with him. The later happenings and the future of their love form the remaining part of the film. The subject is quite simple, but the way in which it has been narrated leaves one to wonder at the superb skills of the director.Diganth displays unprecedented maturity and carries his role pretty well. Nidhi captures the attention of the viewers with her wonderful expressions and pranks. She seems to have revealed her potential as an actress via this film. The highlight of the film is its dialogues which are catchy and punching. Raju Talikote’s comic avatar is entertaining and so is Upadhyaya’s choreography. V Thyagarajan as the camera person has captured the beauty of the coastal region commendably. Mano Murthy’s music is another great advantage of the film. ‘Are Re Pancharangi…’ and ‘Udisuve…’ are thoroughly enjoyable. The movie may look close to the Bollywood hit Hum Aap Ke Hai Kaun, but as a whole is a complete entertainer and value for money. |
Movie Review: The Film Emotional Atyachar: A hatke movie, with a unique concept and execution Posted: 03 Sep 2010 04:25 AM PDT First things first its imperative to bring to your notice that this film titled THE FILM EMOTIONAL ATYACHAR has not even the lamest connection with the famous reality show on the channel called bindass. And besides that secondly it got nothing to do with the up and down of a relationship. These two points confirmed lets moves further. This latest flick on the block will keep making you guess all the time in its magnificent course and is nothing less than a road movie which has various facets of black comedy beautifully strewn in its structure. There are various characters in the movie which sport different behavioral grey and black patterns throughout the film. So all you people who have seen Jonny Gaddaar know exactly what I m talking about. It's the unpredictable storyline and events of the flick which keeps you curious and anxious for the story to unfold next. On one hand where the movie manages to keep the audiences guessing for the next in the plot, it miserably fails on the screenplay front which could have been much much better. So if this was a short summary of its nature and track then let's complete by adding that THE FILM EMOTIONAL ATYACHAR is unorthodox with streaks of some good performances together with its unpredictable nature which can surely allure the movie goers in the trend of modern and upcoming cinema which breakthroughs the unconventional ways of making a movie. |

‘Gayam’ 2 review: lags behind the outstanding preqel Posted: 03 Sep 2010 03:50 AM PDT
Releasing date : Sep 3, 2010, Cast & Crew : Jagapathi Babu, Vimala Raman, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Director : Praveen Sri, Music : Ilayaraja, Writer : Rajendar Reddy ‘Gayam’ 2 is a sequel to its predecessor by the same name but fails to match the magic. Directed by Praveen Sri, the movie once again focuses on 'Durga', played by Jgapathi Babu. His transformation from Ram to Durga is rather completely explained in the first half as he narrates the story to wife Vimala (Vimala Raman). The initial sequences are quite tiring as the film moves at snail's pace when the hero is explaining his act of hiding his identity to Vimala. The saving grace of the movie is the villaneous politician played to perfection by Kota Srinivasa Rao. His character Guru Narayan is dreaming of the Chief Minister's post, when son Shankar Narayan spots durga television whom he had presumed dead. He is now on mission to investigate his identity and finish him off. Therefore he along with the lawyer (Tanikella Bharani) travels to Thailand to expose Durga. The performances are rather mediocre, except that of Kota Srinivasa Rao. The scenes between him and his son are praiseworthy. Jagapathi Babu tries his best but falls behind his portrayal in prequel. The hero does not get to deliver the best of dialogues either. Vimala Raman seems to have enacted her role pretty well as the concerned wife. The comic tinge is provided by Harshavardhan, but fails to appeal. Overall, 'Gayam' 2 would rather be a disppointment, especially to those who had gone through the wonderful experience of 'Gayam' 1. |
We Are Family not as impressive as its American counterpart, stepmom Posted: 03 Sep 2010 03:24 AM PDT Indian woman according to the accepted norms is the one who has the virtue to sacrifice her happiness for her family members and according to Ms Sharma, a lady who gives up her comforts and even her dream career. Therefore on these parameters Ms Sharma fully supports kareena and Kajol's endeavor to try out and experiment with their concise and traditionally limited characters in the movie. The objective is to never limit or give expression to the pessimism of these families and instead always glorify them. When the movie was reviewed by Mumbai's Daily News writer and analysis department headed by Aniruddha Guha she said in her review that the director of the film malhotra has not made a single effort to separate it from the over empowering shadows of its American counterpart and that there are no differences in the two. The Indianness is missing in the feel which may be present superficially in the characters and their dialogues. She rated him as a lackluster for the first attempt of any new director. She further adds that the story plot and the narrative of the movie is nothing new and lacks any imaginative skills on the part of the director, coupled with the drowsy performances of the lead characters and poor response from the production house : Dharma Productions which unlike its previous productions fail to influence its listeners. The audiences were anxiously waiting for the power packed performance of two of their most famous actresses' kajol and kareena together but a long gap. But their hopes were not answered with rewarding acts. |
Dahi Handi Event: Mumbai suffers the festivals at the hands of politicians in Thane Posted: 03 Sep 2010 03:19 AM PDT
Thane has brutally snatched Mumbai’s chance to see the festivals being celebrated there anymore. Most of the people are now being lured to Thane to celebrate and enjoy their festivals. The Govinda festival was majorly celebrated in Thane, instead of being celebrated in Mumbai as it used to be since years. The only reason one can give for the sudden change in the venue can be : politicians and bureaucrats. The politicians have been pouring scrupulous amounts of money and gifts to attract public to visit Thane and make it the hub of every festival. Just like the Dahi Handi festival of 2010, where it was held on a big scale in Thane itself. Thane and Navi Mumbai, both had Govinda Mandals almost everywhere. The challenges of breaking the handis was the most interesting part of the festival. The govinda mandals won huge sums of money for accepting the challenge of breaking the handis. Sangharsh, a group from Thane, put a large sum of money against the dahi handi challenge. The sangharsh group belongs to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), whose MLA is Jitendra Awhad. The dahi handi challenges were not only held in the urban region, but also in the suburbs. Though still, the most benefited group amongst the whole procedure of organizing and offering tempting amount of money for the dahi handi challenges, stands to be the Thane’s govinda mandals. They successfully collected a sum of Rs. 3,000 to 4,000. It is pretty easy to earn even around 15,000 bucks,, breaking handi’s everywhere by forming the seven tier pyramid. |
‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ continues to earn admirers; hit on television Posted: 03 Sep 2010 02:54 AM PDT 'Munni Badnaam Hui', an item song from the upcoming Salman Khan starrer 'Dabangg', has reportedly become a rage already. Speculations were rife that the number was first offered to Katrina Kaif who pulled out in the last minute. The song is performed by Malaika Arora Khan, and also has Salman as well. Meanwhile, Mr. Khan has come up with the clarification that Katrina was never considered for the item number. He instead admitted of having a good time with sister-in law Malaika and his leading lady and debutant Sonakshi Sinha. Salman also revealed certain details of the film project as a whole which is up for release on 10th September. 'Munni Badnaam Hui' song is also being used frequently for the dance sequences on television. Last week Sony TV had Sara Khan performing to the number for the serial 'Baat Hamari Pakki Hai", produced by Deeya Singh and Tony Singh. Again it was the turn of Bobby Darling who was found grooving to the number for the soap 'Dill Mill Gayye'. She was seen dancing to the tune at the bachelor's party of Siddharth. Karan Wahi, who plays Siddharth in the serial admitted that it was a fun experience to have Bobby on the sets. He however seem to regret that he could spare much time Bobby as he had been busy with the shooting schedule. |

Teacher’s Day: A Time Ponder Over Student-Teacher Relationship Posted: 03 Sep 2010 01:51 AM PDT Teacher's Day is celebrated in India on the 5th of September. It is observed in the name of the country's former President Sarveppalli Radhakrishnan. On the occasion, the students express their gratitude and tribute to the teachers who educate them to progress further and face the world. The significance of Teacher's Day is getting debated recently especially after certain incidents that led to the death of some students, pointing their teachers as the culprits. Earlier this year in the Martiniere for Boys in Kolkata, 13 year old Rouvanjit Rawla committed suicide after he was allegedly caned and scolded by some teachers and the Principal. Defending himself, Principal Sunirmal Chakravarthy had said that he used caning as a means to express his pain caused by a child's behaviour. His revelation is quite shocking as it completely puts aside the motive of disciplining a student. The incident got wide media attention and initiated heated discussions for banning corporal punishment. However, such instances still continue to happen. Another student tried to commit suicide after he was punished by his teacher for coming late at the Mother Teresa Public School in Delhi. Ajay Bagarti, 11, of St. George High School in Orissa’s Bargarh district was beaten to death by his teacher. Another incident came to light was that a 12 year old losing his life after being badly punished by his teachers. Theses incidents now have shifted the focus to changing student teacher relationship and the need to abandon corporal punishment. The occasion of Teacher's Day is the right one to ponder over the possibilities to transform this equation into a more healthy and progressive one. Emotional Atyachar Movie Versus Emotional Atyachar Show Posted: 03 Sep 2010 01:30 AM PDT The film makers of the upcoming flick Emotional Atyachar were absolutely on cloud nine after they won the lawsuit against the channel UTV Bindaas, when there plea to sue the movie makers for a whooping 20 crore was rejected by the court. The channel filed a law suit against the production house of the film Purple Haze for a sum of 20 crore as they have adopted the same title for their film which originally belongs to their reality show which is a brand name for the channel. But the production house's lawyer told the court that their title was absolutely original and was registered at the IMPAA (Indian Motion Pictures’ Producers Association. The lawyer also added that the film had no relations to the show as there production was a film and not a reality show. The lawsuit filed by the UTV Bindaas channel had earlier hampered the release date of the film which is now slated for a September 3rd showcase. The filmmakers said that the films title had a registered certificate backing its originality while the UTV people had no such film registration on their sleeves and hence cannot make claims about the fact that we have in any way derived something out of their show. After the rejection of their lawsuit by the court, the channel has instead appealed against the decision that is made. The production house lawyers also mentioned that the channel hade laid claims about the damage that was met to them through an amount of 20 crore, but they had no information about the kind of damages that were done. |
