Pakistan vs Australia, 1st ODI, Dubai, Live Cricket Scores, Live Cricket streaming Posted: 22 Sep 2010 10:49 AM PDT The 1st ODI between Australia and Pakistan will begin in Dubai, on April 22, 2009 Start time 2.30pm (10.30GMT)
These two teams last played an ODI more than three years ago, during the VB Series in February 2005. Australia won the best-of-three finals 2-0. Nasir Jamshed should be back at the top of the order after missing the last couple of series. Pitch and conditions Dubai Sports City Stadium pitch will probably be same with those in Lahore or Karachi. The heat will be quite acute, and the dry conditions should offer plenty of encouragement for the spinners. Hong Kong Recording Industry Acts Against Music Pirates Posted: 22 Sep 2010 06:46 AM PDT Is this yet more evidence that China doesn’t like things getting stolen from them? The Hong Kong recording industry is threatening to sue 37 more people who have allegedly uploaded copyrighted music to the Net. A worldwide campaign was launched in 17 countries yesterday (10/17). 8,000 law suits were filed with 37 in Hong Kong. Hong Kong’s International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, Ltd threatened law suits if the offenders did not pay HK$33,000 (US$4,240) within two weeks. Fifteen people in Hong Kong and 2,300 people globally have paid the fine. Stealing, pilfering, copyrighted material is wrong…not only in the music industry. Perhaps China is starting to catch on. What do you think? |
Supreme Court Of India Refuses Deferment In Ayodhya Verdict That Is Scheduled On September 24 Posted: 22 Sep 2010 04:49 AM PDT The plea regarding the postponement of the 'Ayodhya Verdict' has been rejected by the Supreme Court of India. Justice Altmas Kabir and Justice A K Patnaik who form the bench of the Supreme Court have refused for the deferment of the historical verdict. The Ayodhya Verdict will be given by the Allahabad High Court on September 24, 2010. The court rejected the plea on the basis that the case was civil and hence cannot be deferred more. Meanwhile all the states are taking appropriate measures to protect against any kind of problems that may take place as a result of the verdict. Union Health Minister and AICC General Secretary of Karnataka Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has taken the initiative and appealed to the entire nation to maintain peace, tranquility and communal harmony in the wake of the September 24 verdict of Allahabad High Court in the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid. In line with this I appeal to the people to maintain peace and communal harmony on that day." Source: ET |
‘Artificial Sun’ Reactor Completed Posted: 22 Sep 2010 02:44 AM PDT China has completed construction of its Star Maker – The Experimental Advanced Super conducting Tokamak (EAST) fusion reactor. The Chinese Academy of Sciences has received state ratification, use of funds, operational management and data authenticity. The group successfully generated an electrical current of 250 kilo amperes in five seconds. I think our sun is a bit stronger..but.. "The Institute of Plasma Physics spent eight years and 200 million yuan (25 million U.S. dollars) building the experimental reactor." The United States, the European Union, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Japan and India are cooperating with about 2,000 Chinese researchers engaged in studying thermonuclear fusion. Do you think it is possible to create and 'artificial sun?' It seems kind of 'out there' to me. |
Lalbaugcha Raja Visarjan 2010 – Anant Chaturdashi Celebrated Today Posted: 22 Sep 2010 02:24 AM PDT Today, September 22 is observed as the 'Anant Chaturdashi', the last day of Ganesh festival. Usually, the festival is celebrated for 10 days, but this year, the celebrations lasted for 12 days. On this day, the idol of Lord Ganesha is immersed in water with everyone shouting out loudly, 'Ganpati Bappa Moraya, Pudhchya Varshi Laukar Ya'. The festival was initiated in the state of Maharashtra, India by the great freedom fighter, Lokmanya Tilak. Lalbaughcha Raja, the oldest and the most popular 'Ganesha' of Mumbai, Maharashtra would also experience the 'Visarjan' (immersion) today. Sometimes due to heavy rush near the lakes and rivers, people perform the visarjan pooja on the next day. Many people celebrate this festival for one and a half day, some for five days. Though, the day is of departure, but still people are very enthusiastic, they beat drums and also dance while in procession.

Valentine’s Day Dinner: $50,000 a plate in Shanghai Posted: 21 Sep 2010 10:43 PM PDT And I thought the millionaires gathered in Bangkok paying $25K to be wined and dined was a lot. The Shangri-La Hotel in Pudong is promoting a Valentine's Day Dinner for 388,000 yuan…that's $50K…and if you take a date…make it $100,000! In addition to dinner, the Shangri-La will provide: 1. evening dinner dresses designed by Vera-Wang 2. Diamonds, necklaces and pendants from South Africa 3. a pen made by Caran d"ache 4. Cartier watches 5. Chauffeur drivern Rolls-Royce limousine 6. and a partridge in a pear tree. But, what's on the menu – turtle testicles, frog ovaries, lizard eyes? Shanghai likes Valentine's Day… Somebody will have to like somebody else a whole whole lot to be willing to pork out (golden pig style) $100K for one evening. |
