Apple to launch Mac OS X Lion in summer 2011 Posted: 22 Oct 2010 03:18 PM PDT Apple Inc.’s CEO Steve Jobs in a special event on October 22nd 2010, announced the details of eighth version of Mac OS X, named as Mac OS X Lion. It brings the whole new list of programs and features to the Mac, Set to be released in Summers of 2011, Jobs demonstrated some of new features of Mac OS X Lion. The new features introduced are as follows: The Mac App Store: Apple introduced the best place to discover and buy new apps made just for Mac, right on a Mac. Just like shopping the App Store on iPad, the Mac App Store offers endless possibilities to browse and purchase apps. And it simplifies the way you install apps on the Mac. Just click once, and your new app is downloaded, installed, and ready to go. Launchpad, A home for your apps: The Launchpad gives you instant access to your apps — iPad style. Just click the Launchpad icon in your Dock. Your open windows fade away, replaced by an elegant, full-screen display of all the apps on your Mac. It takes just a swipe to see multiple pages of apps, and you can arrange apps any way you like by dragging an app icon to a new location or by grouping apps in folders. Downloaded an app from the App Store? Your new app automatically appears on the Launchpad, ready to blast off. Full-screen apps, A better way to enjoy the apps you love: On iPad, every app is displayed full screen, with no distractions, and there's one easy way to get back to all your other apps. Mac OS X Lion does the same for your desktop. You can bring an app to full screen with one click, switch to another full-screen app with a swipe of the trackpad, and swipe back to the desktop to access your multi-window apps. And systemwide support for full-screen apps makes them bigger and more immersive. So you can concentrate on every detail of your work, or play on a grander scale than ever before. Mission Control, Mac command central: Mission Control is a powerful and handy new feature that provides you with a comprehensive view of what's running on your Mac. It gives you a bird's-eye view of everything — including Exposé, Spaces, Dashboard, and full-screen apps— all in one place. With a simple swipe gesture, your desktop zooms out to Mission Control. There you can see your open windows grouped by app, thumbnails of your full-screen apps, Dashboard, and even other Spaces, arranged in a unified view. And you can get to anything you see on Mission Control with just one click. Making you the master of all you survey. More Information on MAC OS X Lion, Visit Apple.com |
US Top Concerns Regarding China Posted: 22 Oct 2010 06:26 AM PDT If the number one thing that US opinion leaders and the general public are concerned about is China’s human rights record, what comes next? And, how concerned are they? More than one third of opinion leaders are concerned about the loss of US jobs. Barely one in five of the general public think this is a big thing. I would have thought it the other way around. Four out of 10 opinion leaders are concerned with China’s military modernization. Two out of 10 in the general public share that concern. Ten out of 10 Taiwanese are likely concerned. Half of all opinion leaders are worried about China’s environmental degradation. The general public’s response – what degradation? (19%) How about you? What do you think America should be most concerned about regarding China?
As a reminder – these results and the results in other similar posts are from the Committee of 100 survey of American Attitudes toward China conducted this year (2006).

Paritala Ravi was a political figure – Rakhta Charitra is based on his life Posted: 22 Oct 2010 05:31 AM PDT Paritala Ravi or Ravindra was a political personality who was killed in the year 2005 by his political rivals. Posted: 22 Oct 2010 02:25 AM PDT I read not long ago that Russia has more than 250,000 software engineers. Additionally, they have more scientists per capita than India, which has nearly 10 times the population! The Soviet Union created a high-quality education system, out of which came mathematicians, scientists and engineers for designing space and weapons systems as well as other scientific, security and military developments. I visited a museum in Moscow once – a sort of bragging center for the then Soviet Union. Every pavilion displayed something that looked like it was made in the ’50′s in the US. But then I went to the space pavilion. Whoa! Russia does not need to take a back seat to anyone when it comes to space. So, where have all the rocket scientists gone? (Is anybody singing now?) They are moving into the IT field. Russians are also well known for their ability to handle difficult and complex projects, even the one of kind solutions that require some serious jury rigging. I think the Russian word is – finagle. If it isn’t, it should be. For nearly 1/7th cost, hiring a Rusky for outsourcing needs couldn’t sound much better, now could it? What do you think? |
