Microsoft is fighting a two front battle in the hunt to unveil a new Operating System on Phones to capture the mobile phone market which they lost to Apple and Google through the iPhones and Androids respectively.

In Seattle, Microsoft celebrated a mock funeral of the iPhones revealing their desperation to compete in the mobile phone market. Windows Phone 7 is to be launched on October11 and will go down into Mobile Phones by November.

Microsoft is hoping that the Phone 7 would make them relive their past glory. Samsung and HTC have signed up to bring these phones in the market with Samsung quitting Symbian. However, there is speculation on the future of Windows Phone 7 on if it would capture the market and keep it intact.

Investors are closely monitoring the situation. Microsoft is not too early to respond to this trend and is expected to come up with an answer to all those other majors who rule the market.

Even the investors find Microsoft slow enough to catch up with the market. The prototypes are reported to be promising which is found in the Microsoft Employee network. It is also debated as to know if this third option of an Operating System will click in the market.

Symbian platform is foregone by mobile phone makers for some reason. Samsung immediately signed making Windows Phone 7 and market the phones all across the Europe, Asia, the US and the UK. Samsung's announcement came as soon as Sony Ericsson also quit Symbian.

Samsung has made a request to have queries coming its way before December 10, 2010 for them to be addressed before the Forum closes. It has also urged users to download any Symbian applications for the Samsung Apps Store before 31 December 2010 when it will completely shut down.

The OS may have become extinct but Nokia is the only mobile phone handset maker who has been extending help for the OS. Nokia still is embracing Symbian and is expected to continue using the same for quite some time.

Samsung will quit all support on December 31, 2010 and Sony Ericsson was the first to take such a move who announced the same last week. Symbian's huge smartphone market is expected to be worst affected by this move of two of the Handset makers.
