Bipasha basu wants to do action Posted: 14 Oct 2010 04:39 AM PDT Bipasha Basu is itching to do action roles. While her latest film "Aakrosh" is about honour killings where she plays her most fragile character yet, the actress says in real life she is fit enough to beat her boyfriend John Abraham's energy levels. "I want to do action. I think I am too fit at this point in time and that is a zone that I have not tapped fully and in India we don't have too many films where the woman gets to do action. Hopefully, somewhere I see that I will be able to realize something that I want very soon. So I'm just crossing my fingers," Bipasha told IANS in an interview. The 31-year-old has one of the most well-toned bodies among Bollywood actresses. "I feel girls should be (physically) strong, it's very important. I have a boyfriend who is very strong; so I should match at least 30 percent of his strength. "Now my energy level is much more than him, I can beat his energy levels in 20 minutes," revealed Bipasha, who also released a fitness DVD "Bipasha Basu: Love Yourself" earlier this year. After starting her career with the 2001 film "Ajnabee", Bipasha, who was initially a model, went on to do films like "Aankhen", "Jism", "Raaz", "No Entry", "Corporate", "Race" and "All The Best". Tagged as 'sexy' and 'glamour girl', Bipasha surprised everyone when she decided to do the issue-based film "Lamhaa" and flaunt a no make-up look. She is repeating the same in her new release "Aakrosh". Directed by Priyadarshan, it is about honour killings and also stars Ajay Devgn and Akshaye Khanna. "In the film, I play Geeta who loves Ajay Devgn but is not allowed to marry him because he is from a lower caste. She is married off to Paresh Rawal. In the film, I lead a very sad life. This is by far the saddest role that I've ever done. I actually pity the life of women who go through this. "My character in the film goes through marital abuse, she gets continuously beaten up and abused by her husband. She has no happiness left. She is not married to the man she loves. Basically she is more or less a dead person. "That's why Geeta has no makeup, her saris are very normal. She doesn't even do her hair properly. She is by far the most vulnerable, weak, fragile role that I have ever played," she added. Bipasha maintains she is not a method actor and leaves her character on the sets. "I'm not a method actor, I don't even take it after the cut. I'm an instinctive actor because I learnt on the job. I never wanted to be an actor when I did my first film. so for me it is all instinctive. "If you make me rehearse too much, I'll be like a robot, I'll be mechanical. So, I don't belong to the method school of acting and I don't understand it because to me they all sound mad." |

"I can confirm that an armed man with two kitchen knives attempted to break into Paris Hilton's home when she was sleeping. Irrfan Khan interview - Hollywood very planned, Bollywood very cordial Posted: 14 Oct 2010 03:21 AM PDT Irrfan Khan has managed to make a name for himself in Hollywood as well as Bollywood. As his latest foreign venture "Hisss" is set to release, he says the industry abroad is much more planned, but in India anybody can give suggestions and directors take it. "The basic difference is that they (Hollywood) plan a lot, their working atmosphere is quite compartmentalised, everybody is responsible for their department," Irrfan told IANS in an interview here. "They are more like machines. The person who does a particular job knows only about that, he doesn't have wholesome knowledge. But in India we work in a very cordial manner, here anybody can give a suggestion and directors take it," he added. He became a prominent face in international cinema after acting in films like "Warrior", "A Mighty Heart", "New York, I Love You" and Danny Boyle's multiple Oscar winning film "Slumdog Millionaire". He will soon be seen in "Hisss", directed by American Jennifer Lynch and slated for release Oct 22. The film is about a snake woman played by Mallika Sherawat who is out to take revenge and also stars Divya Dutta. The actor, who was in Gurgaon to promote the film, was all praise for the director. "Working with Jennifer was a brilliant experience; the way she saw the story, which we have been listening to and watching on the big screen for years here, is amazing. The film has marvellous special effects that would definitely shock you," he said. "Though it's a horror film it talks about many other things. It talks about life, death, respect for animals and respect for nature. There are so many layers to the film," he added. He also made an observation about his co-star. "Mallika knows how to come into limelight. She has this talent and she must utilize it," Irrfan told IANS. Known for his unconventional looks, the 48-year-old actor has worked in movies like "Haasil", "Rog", "New York" and "Maqbool". Last seen in "Slumdog Millionaire", the actor has just completed a TV series called "In-Treatment" which stars Gabriel Byrne and Debra Wenger. It is a series about therapists and patients. Irrfan says he is happy the way his career is shaping up and the kind of films he has been doing. "I am happy with the kind of films I am doing. I am getting subjects which I want to do; that's enough for me," he added. The actor is gearing up for the release of director Mani Shankar's new film "Knock Out", which also stars Kangana Ranaut and Sanjay Dutt and will release Friday. The film is about people who have amassed illegal wealth in India and have many secret bank accounts across the world. Irrfan, who plays the role of an investment banker, will be seen sporting long hair in the film. "I wanted to experiment with my looks for the character but our producer Sohail Maklai was a little apprehensive. I told him 'let me work out, see me in the look and then take a call.' "And when I came out in the look, they said this is it. This is what we wanted to have," laughed Irrfan. Meanwhile, Irrfan has a bag full of films. He is currently working on "Paan Singh Tomar", "Yeh Saali Zindagi", "Saath Khoon Maaf" and "Thank You". |
Tiger Woods' sex tape to hit market Friday Posted: 14 Oct 2010 03:14 AM PDT There is no stopping Tiger Woods' sex tape with porn star Devon James hitting the market Friday, says producer Nick James who is also the husband of the porn star. James told the celebrity web site RadarOnline.com that he doesn't think a last minute bid by the disgraced golfer's lawyers will stop the alleged sex tape with his wife becoming available Friday. He said they are moving forward with the release "no matter what." James said, "I was told there was a bid by his lawyers to buy the tape but so far no deal has been struck and I don't think it will be either." While there is no proof that the tape actually exists, the couple has unveiled a website promising viewers a glimpse at "Tiger Woods' former girl playing all the holes," according to the report. Pre-orders for the 62-minute tape are supposed to start Friday through the website www.tigertapexxx.com, according to Devon who claims that she sold the tape to a DVD production company for $350,000 plus royalties. "I think that it will be available for pre-order no matter what now - right now that is definitely still on," her producer- husband was quoted as saying. The porn star has also alleged that Tiger Woods is the father of her nine-year-old son Austin. But many, including Devon's own mother Sandra Brinling, doubt whether the tape even exists, although it has previously been alleged that naked photos and a phone sex tape exist from Tiger's cheating spree, according to the website. However, both Devon and Nick insist that the tape exists and that it will shortly be available to the public. |

Rakta Charitra not for KJO fans: RGV Posted: 14 Oct 2010 03:07 AM PDT Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, known for his controversial comments, again spoke his mind when he said that his forthcoming film "Rakta Charitra" was not for people who are fond of Karan Johar's family drama "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham". Varma and Johar have often locked horns on various subjects on social networking sites and in front of the media and Varma didn't lose an opportunity to do the same at an event organised here, where the director showed 30 minutes of footage of "Rakta Charitra" to the media. "I wanted to give a small introduction to the film and that was the purpose of showing this footage to a certain section of the people," Varma told reporters here. "I have done films of this genre before. But the difference in 'Rakta Charitra' or let's say in 'Company' is that first, the latter has a urban setup and the second 'Company' is different in terms of the characters and the way it has been shot. "'Rakta Charitra' deals with very emotionally volatile people and is set in a rural atmosphere. It is a violent film. Having said that, violence doesn't come from a psychopath. It comes from a certain necessity. It comes from a struggle, certain have nots between communities, families and probably a struggle for power," he added. The film is a trilingual made in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil. It is based on the life of Paritala Ravi, a slain factionist and political leader from Andhra Pradesh. The film stars Vivek Oberoi, Surya and Shatrughan Sinha in pivotal roles and is scheduled to be released Oct 22. "In terms of the pitch of the film. I just want to quote an incident that happened with Hollywood filmmaker Quentin Tarantino. "When he showed his first film 'Pulp Fiction' to people, he apparently went on stage and asked the people that did any one of them like the 'Rain Man'. About 30-40 people raised their hands. He told those people to leave because he said that this film was not for them," said Varma. "So this film 'Rakta Charitra' is not for the people who like 'Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham'." |

Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla says Our Hindi is becoming worse by the day Posted: 14 Oct 2010 12:33 AM PDT Juhi Chawla says Sita is not a talkative character in the forthcoming 3-D animated film "Ramayana - The Epic", but the actress at times had to do take after take to give the voiceover. With Hindi-speaking skills becoming worse by the day, she found it quite a challenge, says Chawla. "Even though this film is an animation film, I was privileged to give the voiceover for such a beautiful character. It didn't take me more than two minutes to say yes. Only thing I was concerned about was it should be a quality film - and it has really turned out to be one," Juhi told IANS in an interview. "Our Hindi is becoming worse every day, and here is 'Ramayana' where proper and pure Hindi is used, so it took a little time getting used to that. In terms of dialogues, Sita didn't have a lot to talk about. She is not very talkative as a character. But there were times when I have taken take after take!" she added. The film will be released Friday. "It's not like Sita fought wars, but she was a picture of beauty, dignity, patience, love and endurance. She is quiet strength. She is not aggressive and has many beautiful qualities in her," she added. Sita, the wife of Ayodhya prince Lord Rama, is one of the principal characters in the Indian epic Ramayana. Even though Juhi has done many films like "Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak", "Bol Radha Bol", "Darr", "Yes Boss", "Ishq" and "Jhankaar Beats", she found the experience interesting and challenging. "When you act in a film and you dub for it, the thing is you have already enacted that scene and now the whole challenge is to try and match it again. "Here it was quite the other way around where I had no picture and I was explained the scene and situation. Standing at a mike, in a small cubicle, you should be able to imagine it from your heart. So it was quite challenging," said the 42-year-old. Produced by filmmaker Ketan Mehta under his banner Maya Digital Media, the film, directed by Chetan Desai, boasts of spectacular audio-visual experience far beyond anything ever attempted in India with skills and designs matching international standards. While Rama's voiceover has been given by Manoj Bajpayee, Raavan's voice is by Ashutosh Rana. It is slated to hit the screens Friday. Asked what her earliest memories of the Ramayan were, Juhi revealed: "I have learnt almost all my mythology practically from 'Amar Chitra Katha' comics. That was my connection!" |
