India issues note verbale to Pakistan on 26/11 terror attacks’ anniversary Posted: 25 Nov 2010 05:28 AM PST The Indian government has issued a note verbale to Islamabad, Pakistan for the 'lack of progress' in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks' cases in the country. The verbale asks the neighbouring country's government to fulfill the 'obligation and commitment' to help bring early justice in the 26/11 case. According to the Government sources, India expressed 'regret' in the note verbale for unable to receive proper feedback from Pakistan. That includes information of the people involved in the gruesome attacks that killed many people. Some feedback was expected from the Pakistani government after the meeting between the Indian Home Minister, P Chidambara and his Pakistani counterpart in June, this year. The Indian government was expecting that Pakistan would disclose the names of the seven handlers at the earliest. But there is no news about it as of now from their side. The list includes two Pakistani Army officers involved in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Source: Hindu |

4 life lessons I learned from my 1-year old daughter Posted: 24 Nov 2010 01:46 PM PST I am a dad….again. I say again because I have two boys, a 26-year old and a 23-year old, and a little 1-year old (13 months.) girl. Okay, you can stop laughing now because my 1-year old is teaching her old man some important life lessons. I learned four such lessons from her on our way to the park today. 1. When she sensed danger, she turned to her father. As we walked a dog started barking very loudly from behind a fence. It was a small but quite noisy dog. She didn’t know/care that I might be afraid, too…she just knew that I would protect her as she hugged my leg. 2. When she felt something was difficult she reached up to grab my hand…without looking. As we got to a curb that was too high for her to step off, without missing a beat she reached her hand up to grab her father’s hand for help to step down. 3. When she was ready to take a dare, she checked to see if her father would be there to catch her. Still afraid of the slide she approached the edge ever so cautiously. Just before she took the plunge she looked down to see if I was there with my hands out waiting. 4. When delighted, she shared her joy with her father. She climbed the steps, a few of them standing. At the top, she straightened up, turned, showed off her dimples with a smile as broad as the bridge connecting the jungle jim and squealed loud and long enough to ensure I would see and acknowledge what she had accomplished. Hmm…I know that when I sense danger, feel life is difficult, am daring to try something new and find delight in an accomplishment, I, too, have a Father who is waiting to protect, help me overcome, catch me if I fail and share those moments of joy. Thanks for lessons, little one. Ah…and thank goodness she got all her good looks from me. Her mom still has her good looks. |
The Cambodian water Festival 456 dead due to Stampede Posted: 24 Nov 2010 11:24 AM PST
In an unfortunate incident in the capital of Cambidia, Phnom Penh, about 456 people were crushed and 391 others were injured in a stampede that occurred on a bridge on Tuesday. Sources say that the stampede occurred during a water festival, when the crowd started to panic, as the bridge started to swing. A Cambodian Embassy official in Washington said that there were about four million people in the water festival when the incident occurred. Sources also say that during the stampede many people jumped off the bridge, into the river, in order to escape the stampede. So the rescue workers are also searching in the river for survivors. This festival is held every year in the month of November, which pays tribute to the Cambodian naval forces in the 12th century, when King Jayvarman used to rule. It is called the water festival because, people pour water at one another as a part of the cleansing ritual to welcome the new year. According to the tradition, people gently sprinkle water on one another as a sign of respect. |
