Hrithik Roshan wants to hides from his sons

Hrithik Roshan wants to hides from his sonsHrithik Roshan, who was hospitalised for an allergic reaction to an antibiotic medicine, has returned home but has not allowed his sons to see him.

"They'd get so scared if they saw me like this. Though my lips are going back to their normal size, they're still not fully normal. I don't want my sons to see me until I look like myself again," said Hrithik.

The actor, who is married to Sussanne, has two sons - Hrehaan, 4, and Hridaan, 2.

"This kind of attack happens in the rarest of rare cases. But it happened to me. Anything could've happened if I hadn't rushed to the hospital," said the actor who was rushed to the hospital Sunday and was discharged on Monday.

The actor was on his way to a very dear friend's funeral when it happened. In fact, so alarming were the symptoms that Hrithik just rushed to the hospital.

"I was driving to a friend's funeral when the attack suddenly happened. It just makes you so grateful for the gift of life."

The 36-year-old had gotten so frightened that he had checked into the hospital alone.

"It was crazy! I'd have been frightened to death at what I saw in the mirror. Within minutes my lips had swollen to 10 times the normal size. Luckily for me, even in that shocking state, I remembered Eddie Murphy in a film where his lips had swollen to monstrous proportions because of an allergy. So I knew it wasn't fatal," he said.

Hrithik was immediately able to identify that it was an allergy caused by a new antibiotic he had taken half-an-hour earlier.

"That was the only alien substance introduced in my body. I told my doctors about it. And they were immediately able to locate the source of allergy. Such violent allergy attacks usually happen in the West after eating prawns.

"I must be the only person in the universe to get so sick after taking an antibiotic pill," said the actor who has earned rave reviews for his performance as paraplegic patient in "Guzaarish".

Hrithik is overwhelmed by the response to his performance in "Guzaarish".

"I guess this (the hospitalization) was god's way of balancing things out. I was getting much love for my performance it had to be counter-balanced."

"Guzaarish" has taken Hrithik to new heights of self-realization. "How can one not be affected when you meet these people who are paralyzed for life? Their spirit and joie de vivre just overwhelms you. I'll always be grateful to Sanjay Bhansali for giving me the opportunity to do this film."

"'Guzaarish' is a different scale and space. The closest I've been to this space is 'Jodhaa-Akbar'. It's an entirely different experience when you know you're affecting lives beyond entertainment."

Hollywood Star Halle Berry wants to have more kids

Hollywood Star Halle Berry wants to have more kidsActress Halle Berry wants to have more kids but fears she's running out of time.

The Oscar-winning star has a two-year-old daughter, Nahla, with her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, and admits she longs to give the youngster a sibling, reports dailystar.co.uk.

She said: "I'd love more children. I'm 44, so who knows how much longer I can wait?"

Berry also concedes she will have to change the way she works once her daughter starts school as she won't be able to take her along on the movie sets.

"You make time for what's important. She's not yet three, so I take her with me. Once she's five or six, and in school, I'll have to make a change," she said.

Deepika Padukone doesn't identify with her 'Break Ke Baad' character

Posted: 26 Nov 2010 02:28 AM PST

Deepika Padukone doesn't identify with her 'Break Ke Baad' characterDeepika Padukone is very sensitive when it comes to relationships and so she couldn't connect to her character in the forthcoming film "Break Ke Baad". But the actress took the challenge because she wanted to do something different from her previous roles.

"I think the reason I chose to do the film is: one, I thought this is very different from the characters I played in my previous films. Also because the character is very different from the kind of person I am, especially her take on relationships," Deepika, 24, told IANS in an interview.

"The way I think of a relationship is very, very different. Aaliya reacts without thinking; I am not like that. I am a little more sensitive; I think before I do something. Her professional side I connect with, but her personal side I don't connect with.

"Aaliya is very, very focussed about her career. She wants to achieve a lot for herself. She wants to go to Australia and become an actress. She is independent and very ambitious and these are the characteristics that I identify with.

"But at the same time she is a girl who doesn't believe in love, commitment, relationship and marriage. And she is also a little insensitive and immature and I don't identify with these things," said Deepika.

Directed by Danish Aslam and produced by Kunal Kohli, the film shows how the psyche of individuals act as villains in their love life. Deepika is paired with Imran Khan in this 'hatke' romantic film, which released Friday.

Deepika could never understand the concept of taking a break in a relationship.

"I never really understood the concept of a break. Two people in a relationship should try to make it work. Personally I never took a break in a relationship. I don't know what it means," said Deepika who recently broke up with her actor boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor.

Asked if not getting space in a relationship means being over-possessive, she said: "Not necessarily. After doing the film, I realised that when people say let's take a break that means there are a lot of problems in a relationship, but at the same time you love each other so much that you don't want let go completely either. So I think it's a matter of convenience. On the one hand you want your freedom, but you also don't let go of that person."

The story of her 2009 release "Love Aaj Kal" was similar, but the actress doesn't think "Break Ke Baad" has any resemblance to the former.

"People find a similarity because the space in both the films is similar. People also find it very similar because both of them are very real. 'Love Aaj Kal' was a very real film; so is 'Break Ke Baad'.

"Every one would relate to the film because everyone has gone through it at some point in his or her life. The characters are completely different. It's a love story, with a few light moments as well," said Deepika.

Bollywood Celebrities on 26/11

Bollywood Celebrities on 26/11Members of the Indian film fraternity remembered all those who lost their lives in the Mumbai terror attacks on its second anniversary Friday. Many actors say the pain of the mayhem, in which 10 Pakistani terrorists held Mumbai hostage, killing 166 people, is still fresh in their mind.

Here's what the celebrities had to say on micro-blogging site Twitter:

Lata Mangeshkar: Aaj 26/11 hai, 2 saal pehele Mumbai par jo aatanki hamla hua tha, jisme kai maasoom logon ki jaanein chali gayi, kai log zakhmi hue, kai ghar ujad gayein, un sabhi bhai behenon ko, bacchon ko, aur us me apne pranon ki aahuti de kar kai logon ko bachaane wale un mahan veeron ko, unki is behen ki bhavbheeni shraddhanjali...."

(Today is 26/11 and two years ago on the same day Mumbai was hit with terror attacks in which innocent people lost their lives, many got injured, many families were ruined... I pay a very humble tribute to all those people, children and the courageous people who sacrificed their own lives to save others.)

Amitabh Bachchan: Today 26/11! Horrors of terrible visuals, pride in bravery of our men in uniform and deepest thoughts and prayers for lost lives.

Abhishek Bachchan: Our thoughts and prayers with all those who lost loved ones on 26/11. We will never forget!

Madhur Bhandarkar: Today is the second anniversary of 26/11. (I) feel so sorry for the innocent lives lost and (I) salute the martyrs. Doesn't matter how hard Mumbai is hit, it has always bounced back with a bang, with a zest of life. Jai Hind!

Anupam Kher: 26/11 tragedy completes two years. And we are still debating about (Ajmal Amir) Kasab's fate. A silent prayer for the victims and their families.

Pooja Bhatt: Amidst this barrage of corruption the nation seems to be subjected to I can't help but feel that the fires of 26/11 still tragically rage on.

Diya Mirza: Have not forgotten and will not forget this date. 26/11.

Pooja Bedi: 26/11 once again!!! And monster Kasab still not hung for the massacre caught on tape and eyewitness accounts! What strong message are we sending? My thoughts and prayers today with all victims of terrorism in India and abroad! Let's push for swift and stern sentencing of terrorists!

R. Madhavan: Heart goes out to all who lost their near and dear ones in Mumbai on this day. We will never forget.

Kunal Khemu: 26/11- prayers for all those who lost their lives and for all those who lost their loved ones!

Hindi Movie 'Allah Ke Banday' Film Review

Posted: 26 Nov 2010 02:08 AM PST

Hindi Movie 'Allah Ke Banday' Film ReviewFilm: "Allah Ke Banday"; Cast: Naseeruddin Shah, Sharman Joshi, Faruk Kabir, Anjana Sukhani, Atul Kulkarni and others; Writer-Director: Faruk Kabir; Rating: ***

A feeling of foreboding and damnation builds up in the narration from the first frame itself. Here's a gloriously gutsy film exploring the underbelly of Mumbai through the lives of two slum kids who grow up in identical circumstances, but with somewhat disparate values.

First-time director Faruk Kabir displays remarkable skill in creating a pastiche of mammoth crime and little punishment. The pace leaves meagre space for grace. And yet "Allah Ke Banday" creates a world filled with acute aggression, repression and damnation with a reasonable amount of paciness to the edgy narrative.

The world that Faruk Kabir's characters inhabit is reminiscent of Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire", Irrfan Kamal's underrated "Thanks, Maa", Mahesh Manjrekar's "City Of Gold" and Chandan Arora's "Striker". Deriving its lingering study of juvenile delinquency from these sources "Allah Ke Banday" moves forward and acquires a life of its own.

The gripping narrative takes us through the world of petty crime and underage lawlessness non-judgementally. Faruk Kabir's deeply-felt concern for children who dodder dangerously on the edge of society is never overdone. The director creates a world of uncertainties with unwavering confidence.

The nervous anxiety of the characters is rather aptly replicated in the film's rough and unvarnished look. Kabir's cameraman Vishal Sinha goes through the rugged merciless slums searching for only Allah-knows what. The actors wear their unwashed demeanour casually, so much so that at times we forget the existence of the camera. At the same time, there are uneven sections in the narrative that mar what could otherwise have been a standout exposition on the genesis of social outcasts.

Sharman Joshi and Faruk Kabir play the two driving forces of the plot with a deep understanding of their characters and the milieu. Both seem to have got right their characters' physicality and then proceed to explore their inner worlds. For a first-time actor and director, Faruk Kabir handles both his jobs with more than a reasonable amount of compelling confidence.

The others in the cast merge into the relentless milieu. As usual, the extraordinarily brilliant Naseeruddin Shah is under-used. Whenever he shows up on screen, an extra dimension is effortlessly added to the proceedings.

Notches above the run-of-the-mill entertainer is the genuine concern for juvenile delinquency. The lives on the streets never looked more dangerous and less glamorous. This time, crime is not glorified. Thank god for small mercies.

Shiv Sena slams ShahRukh Khan

Shiv Sena slams ShahRukh KhanThe Shiv Sena Friday attacked Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for agreeing to perform at a function for Pakistani TV channel on the second anniversary of the 26/11 terror strike. However, the actor's office said there was no truth in the allegation and that he was in Berlin shooting for "Don 2".

In a sharp editorial in the party mouthpiece Saamna, the Sena said Khan lived in India, worked in Mumbai, constructed a palace (Mannat Bungalow in Bandra) in Mumbai but agreed to do a song-and-dance for a Pakistani TV channel in London, ostensibly to help the victims of the recent floods there.

"This (26/11 anniversary) is becoming an occasion to celebrate, instead of remembering the sacrifices of the martyrs and the innocent victims of the terror attacks and paying them homage," the editorial said.

However, a source in Shah Rukh's office said: "Shah Rukh is very much in Berlin. He's shooting for Farhan Akhtar's 'Don 2'. He's not going anywhere. There is no truth in the Saamna story."

The Shiv Sena also castigated Home Minister R.R. Patil and opposition leader Eknath Khadse for visiting Ajmal Amir Kasab, the sole surviving 26/11 terrorist, three days ago.

The party also frowned on the recent trip by US President Barack Obama, who stayed at the Hotel Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, to symbolise the unity against terror.

"But, President Obama, you had more than 50,000 policemen protecting you and the entire hotel evacuated for your stay. If the same amount of security had been deployed during 26/11, it would have never happened in the first place," it argued.

Besides, it sarcastically added that in his country (US), the home minister and opposition leader don't go and meet terrorists in jail enquiring after their well-being and happiness.

Madhuri Dixit to judge 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4'

Posted: 26 Nov 2010 01:55 AM PST

Madhuri Dixit to judge 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4'Bollywood's dancing queen Madhuri Dixit is back in business as one of the judges of the fourth season of dance reality show, "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa". Choreographer Remo D'Souza will also join her.

But the third judge is yet to be revealed.

Rumours about Madhuri's comeback to the small screen were rife, but Sony TV confirmed her participation at a grand launch Thursday.

"It took us one-and-a-half-year to convince her to come here. Thanks to Rikkuji (Madhuri's secretary Rakesh Nath), she is now here. She has left her family in the US for the show and we are very grateful that she has made it on board," Ajit Thakur, executive vice president and business head of Sony TV, told reporters.

Madhuri, who still exudes elegance, made a grand entry in an orange-yellow sari with embroidery while dancers grooved to her hit numbers "Humko aajkal hai", "Ek do teen" and "Que sera sera". The diva enthralled the audience by matching steps with the dancers and later even with Remo.

"In the past, I have done 'Kahin Na Kahin Koi Hai' with Sony TV and I hope you all like 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' now. It is an exciting show, and all the participating celebrities are not professional dancers. It would be great to see them dancing and competing," said Madhuri, who is settled in the US with her husband and two sons.

The actress, popular for films like "Khalnayak", "Saajan", "Ram Lakhan", "Hum Aapke Hain Koun" and "Devdas", says her criteria for judging will be the "attitude and performance".

"Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4", inspired by international show "Dancing With The Stars" and produced by BBC Worldwide Productions, will go on air Dec 12, and it will replace Amitabh Bachchan's "Kaun Banega Crorepati 2010".

According to officials, the dance reality show will be bigger and better this season.

"The technicians were actually sent to London to the sets of 'Dancing With The Stars' to see how the lighting and sets are done, so that they could absorb the technology. There will be 12 celebrities this time," said Myleeta Aga, general manager and creative head, BBC Worldwide Productions, India.
