Posted: 23 Nov 2010 11:45 PM PST

It is the celebration time for the 'Dirty Dancing' star Jennifer Grey as she wins the 'Dancing With the Stars' competition, this season. Grey beat Bristol Palin in the finale. Palin was assumed to win the reality show because of the supposed Tea Party backing.

50 year old Grey won the dancing crown even though she was grieving with the injuries in her neck and knee. The star was paired with professional dancer Derek Hough. The pair consistently performed well throughout the season and was on the top of the charts of the judges.

On the other hand, Palin and her partner Mark Ballas were consistently performing poorly and so did not stood at good positions on the judges list. But Palin had a huge support system and she survived in the show because of the votes.

After a lot of debate over the corruption issue, Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa said that he would continue to serve as the chief minister of the state.

Yeddyurappa on Tuesday, continued to take his stand, not to quit, which also put the BJP leadership under dilemma in a decision to take a moral stand on the issue.

Yeddyurappa was firm all because of the support that he had got from the MLAs on Monday. Sources say that Yeddyurappa had met BJP president Nitin Gadkari, on Tuesday night over the issue.

Nitin Gadkari is who is suppose to take the decision over the issue said that the party will announce their decision on Wednesday after 11 am. Sources also say that the CM has a support from the Lingayat community in the north Karnataka.

The Lingayat community was mainly responsible for BJP first ever win in Karnataka. The support came due to the recent danger of H D Devegowda's Son, H D Kumaraswami's approach towards Yeddyurappa, who are said to be the traditional rivals of the Lingayat community.

What “Man and God” Dirty Dancing – Butoh-style Looks Like

Posted: 23 Nov 2010 09:40 PM PST

Butoh is a kinda sorta dance named for a diverse range of activities, techniques and motivations .

The Butoh dance/performance/movement is inspired by the Ankoku-Butoh movement.

butohdance.jpg
It involves:

1. playful and grotesque imagery,

2. taboo topics

3. extreme or absurd environment

4. is traditionally “performed” in white-body makeup with slow hyper-controlled motion, with or without an audience.

5. There is no set style and have no movement at all.

6. Its origins have been attributed to Japanese dance legends Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno.

The Kyoto Journal categorizes Butoh as dance, theater, "kitchen", or "seditious act".

The San Francisco Examiner describes Butoh as “unclassifiable” ("strangest, most unclassifiable, and most haunting)". In other words if they don’t know what to call it in San Francisco, it ain’t got a name.

The San Francisco Weekly calls is it a kind of “world” of "restaurant theater" in a skid row context.

Butoh occurs in:

1. areas of extremes of the human condition- skid row

2. extreme physical environments, caves with no audience (so, if nobody is watching, is s/he really dancing?)

3. remote Japanese cemetery

4. hanging by ropes from a skyscraper

or in a bar in Beijing by Chinese Malaysian Lee Swee Keong who performed “Man and God.”

Beijing Customs Tax Surpasses 2006 Goal

Posted: 23 Nov 2010 05:38 PM PST

So, do tax dudes sit around at the end of the year and set goals for collecting taxes in the coming year? Apparently so.

Beijing customs reports that it has already surpassed its goal in tax revenue for this year.

The goal of $2.8 billion) was surpassed by the end of September – up 40% over last year.beijing.jpg

Total foreign trade for the first three quarters of this year was $41.4 billion also up over 40% on last year.

Imports almost reached $25 billion – up 43.6%.

The imported products were primarily, IT products, mobile phone accessories, communication equipment and spare parts for cars.

Beijing-made integrated circuits, pc monitors and garments grew.

I never thought of this benefit to Beijing – the more trade that occurs the more customs tax that is collected.

Yet, another reason to increase the trade between China and the world, eh?

What do you think?

Oniomaniac – The Cure to the World’s Economy Woes

Posted: 23 Nov 2010 01:37 PM PST

oniomaniac.jpgOniomaniac – it’s he cure to the world’s economy woes.

Oniomaniac – an uncontrollable desire to buy things.

Now, all we need to do is figure out how to give the disease to everyone in the world. Come to think of it, I think most people in China already have the problem. Chinese have what is known as the be like ‘ems. If they can buy up ‘stuff’ the way we do in the West, they’ll find happiness. And if they have oniomaniac and buy more stuff with a reason, why they can even be happier.

Fat chance of that.

Still if world governments can find a way to keep their country people spending, the economies of the world will continue to hum.

Fat chance of that, too.
