Two Great Green Business Opportunities in China Posted: 02 Nov 2010 11:54 PM PDT Psst! Want to make some money? Want to make some big money? Can you say a couple of million? A billion? $239 billion? $555 billion? Seriously…China has earmarked some serious funds to develop its greener side. The country currently gets less than 10% of its energy from renewable sources. By 2020, the Middle Kingdom wants to get 15% from such sources…wind power, solar energy, geothermal…and so on. China has already earmarked Y1.4 trillion from 2006-2010. Another $186 billion will be spent next year and $555 billion by 2020. That’s some serious funds. The two leading candidates to pull in some of that money: 1. clean coal 2. carbon capture technology Do you have a green idea that can benefit 1.3 billion people? China wants to talk to you. Now. |
One Country Wants to be Home to Global Schoolhouse Posted: 02 Nov 2010 07:51 PM PDT At least one country has the emphasis in the right place….education. Singapore has 20 foreign universities and 41 preparatory and boarding schools as well as 290 private schools. Last year, Singapore hosted 80,000 students from over 120 countries…up 11.6% from 2005. Singapore's 'global schoolhouse' aims to provide diverse and quality educational choices at all levels of education – pre-school to post-graduate. Diversity…international…quality… If these are the goals of education, and why shouldn't they be…then Singapore is the choice. What's more…the country will pay for the education. Sounds right to me. What do you think? |
Posted: 02 Nov 2010 03:49 PM PDT There is a new social business news site that is all about business. The site is Bizzbites - tasty bite-sized morsels of business intelligence that are submitted and voted on by the community. This is right up my alley. I like to give one point lessons, one fact posts, that encourage thinking and a response. If you feel so inclined, please hit the Bizzbite this link at the end of my posts and send them off to Bizzbite to help that network grow…and me, too. I think it is great to have a social network such as this devoted to business news. |
