Revelation 14:1-5 – Commentary Posted: 21 Nov 2010 01:06 AM PST
1. And I looked, and behold, the Lamb standing - the Lamb is standing because he is victorious. The Lamb is far more powerful than what it was that was just described. The Lamb stands not the beast.
on Mount Zion – Mount Zion is the mount that God is on. The Lamb is standing where God is at. There could not have been a better sight for John’s eyes after seeing what he had just seen.
and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand – standing with the Lamb is the faithful. Hallelujah. We’re marching to Zion.
having His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads – this helps bring out the relationship that will exist when we are in heaven with Christ. The same way that the wicked are identified as being wicked the righteous are identified as being righteous. We are Christ’s. Zion was a natural fortress for defensive purposes. We will be on Zion!!!
2. And I heard a voice from heaven – God speaking.
like the sound of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder, and the voice whic I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps – descriptive phrases which tells us that God is talking. When God talks we know that we need to listen.
3. And they sang a new song before the throne and and before the four living creatures and the elders – the faithful are singing a new song to God or at least before God and to God.
and no one could learn the song except the one hundred and forty-four thousand – ONLY THOSE WHO ARE FAITHFUL can learn the new song not the wicked. The relationship that will exist in heaven will be only between the faithful and God.
who had been purchased from the earth – these are the ones who were bought by the great price which was the blood of the Lamb. I Cor. 6:20.
4. These are the ones who have not been defiled with women for they are celibates. – these are the guiltless. These who have been bought are the faithful.
These the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. – certainly the Faithful follow the Lamb.
These have been purchased from among men as first fruits to God and to the Lamb – these are the best kind. These are the best not the second choice. God’s faithful are the best in his sight.
5. And no lie was found in their mouth; they are blameless – more descriptive terms of the way or the nature of the faithful. The faithful are to be found blameless in their lives. |
275 Gallons of Beer Consumed Every Second in China in 2006 Posted: 20 Nov 2010 09:05 PM PST
Each person, that includes the little ones, newborns, toddlers and such, each person drinks on average 7 gallons of beer a year in China. So, if the kids aren't drinking, then dad and/or mom get to split another 7 gallons. China as a whole drank 35 million tons of beer in 2006…that's about 1.1 tons or 275 gallons of beer going down every second…and then out about 30 minutes or so later. In 2002, China overtook the U.S. as the biggest beer drinking country and the market has been growing by about 10% every year. The western part of China still drinks relatively little beer and is considered the potential driving force of China's beer industry development. China also needs about 25 football teams, 30 baseball teams and a couple of thousand bowling alleys, too. Those establishments will help grow the beer drinking market. And if American college kids were invited to hang around on weekends… Oh, and they could invite Americans, Australians and Germans to come for a beer drinking competition. The country's annual consumption could double during a weeklong competition. So, I wonder which nation drinks the most beer per capita? Anybody know? My bet goes to the Aussies. |
Miller, Coors Vs. Chinese Beer Makers – Tsiingtao, Zhujiang, Yanjing Posted: 20 Nov 2010 05:04 PM PST
Coors and Miller Lite are mixing it up in an effort to compete against industry leader Anheuser-Busch, brewer of Budweiser, Michelob and Bud Light…and keeper of half the market. London Based SABMiller will have a 58% interest. MolsonCoors Brewing will own the rest. The new venture will be called MillerCoors and will sell: 1. Miller Lite, 2. Miller Genuine Draft, 3. Coors, 4. Coors Light 5. Molson Canadian By combining operations the two firms will be able to pour more into marketing its brands to consumers and compete more effectively.
But…what about in China, where more beer is consumed than anywhere else …all-American beer bellies aside. China's Tsingtao Beer brewed by Tsingtao Brewery is China's best seller. Other top sellers include Zhujiang and Yanjing. All total…China has a bus load of beers.
MillerCoors may/will become a bigger force to reckon with but they have a long way to go, as does Bud and the rest to be the world's number one beer. What kind of beer do you drink? See also: Miller, Coors vs. Japanese Beer Makers – Suntory, Asahi, Kirin, Sapporo |

Mao would roll over in his grave…if he could roll. He sits…uh..lies frozen in a building on Tiananmen Square. At least he was still frozen the last time I saw him. I am sure the building has a name, but I don’t know what it is. It’s right outside the great hall of the people. On the outside wall of the forbidden city is a HUGE portrait of Chairman Mao. That portrait was painted from a smaller ‘mother copy’ that is just 35" by 27" big. Copies of Chairman Mao that have hung above the Tiananmen Gate have been lost…but the original has not. The original is going to be auctioned on June 3 and is expected to fetch between $120-150K. The auction is open to Chinese and foreign bidders. My bet is that, once this portrait is sold and paid for the copies that were hung and then mysteriously disappeared will suddenly reappear on ebay…taobao or some other site. And then of course, there will be some serious forgeries as well. What do you think? |
