Actress Winona Ryder dreads turning 40 Posted: 19 Dec 2010 09:47 PM PST New York, Dec 19 (IANS) Actress Winona Ryder is dreading her upcoming 40th birthday because she has been "warned" about reaching the milestone age throughout her Hollywood career. The "Edward Scissorhands" star, who has been making movies since the 1980s, will celebrate the landmark next October but Ryder has long feared moving into her forties, because people have told her it would mark a downturn in her career, reports hollywood.com. "I'm at that age I've been warned my whole life about," she said. But the actress is determined to follow in the footsteps of her idol Meryl Streep, who has carved out a stellar career in her later years despite feeling abandoned by Hollywood in her late 30s. "It's hard to imagine a time where Meryl Streep wasn't the first choice for everything, but I was reading some article, and she said something like, 'Yeah, when I was around 38, 39, I turned to my husband and said, 'Should we just call it a day, or should we try to kick the can down the road?'" she said. "It was so weird to me to think about movies without her in them. But a lot of great actresses have chosen that," she added. |
Demi Lovato's representative rubbishes sex tape rumours Posted: 19 Dec 2010 09:40 PM PST London, Dec 19 (IANS) A representative of Demi Lovato has dismissed reports that the actress would soon feature in a sex tape. The Disney star, who is currently in rehab battling emotional and physical issues, hit headlines when a series of her racy pictures emerged online. And the photographs prompted online gossips to speculate she will soon appear in a sex tape, reports okmagazine.com. "Perpetrating these completely unfounded rumors from supposed sources while Demi is in treatment dealing with serious physical and emotional issues is disgusting," said Lovato's representative. "We would ask serious news outlets to strongly consider the source of this story before they regurgitate it," the representative added. |
Kelly Osbourne, sister Aimee fall out Posted: 19 Dec 2010 09:33 PM PST London, Dec 20 (IANS) Singer Kelly Osbourne refuses to talk to her sister Aimee following a huge argument and is even forcing family to hold separate Christmas celebrations. "Aimee and Kelly haven't spoken for months after an almighty row. They've always had a challenging relationship but this last row seems to have tipped them both over the edge," mirror.co.uk quoted a source as saying. "It's become a nightmare situation for the whole family. Sharon's distraught about what's happened. Neither girl will back down. "Kelly's been telling her friends that the family will have to get used to the fact that they just don't get on. Hate is a strong word. But they really don't like each other. Kelly doesn't want to know and Aimee seems to have already moved on from it all," the source added. |
Michael Douglas to attend Golden Globes ceremony Posted: 19 Dec 2010 09:24 PM PST London, Dec 20 (IANS) Veteran actor Michael Douglas, who's recuperating after undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment for throat cancer, is planning to attend Golden Globe awards ceremony where he has been nominated in the Best Supporting actor category. The 66-year-old actor has been nominated for his role in "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" and his friend Alan Burry admits he is keen on attending the award function, reports femalefirst.co.uk. "Michael would like to go to the Golden Globes. He is planning on going," Burry said. "Michael can't yet return to work and he can't work out physically, he has been ordered to take it easy and get his energy levels up," Burry added. The actor has been placed on a special diet to help him regain the weight he lost during cancer treatment. "Michael has to eat a lot now to gain back the weight and help him find his strength again. That's one of the hardest things when you have been through the medication and treatment. He needs to gain weight. He looks thin, it's true, but that is because the chemo eats everything in someone's body," Burry said. |

Well, not that I read much in the press about myself or even anyone, but you can't help but know that she and Brad are globally hounded and tracked down. Also, she's a great mommy," he added. |
'Tees Maar Khan' and 'Toonpur Ka Superhero' Movie Preview Posted: 19 Dec 2010 09:11 PM PST New Delhi, Dec 20 (IANS) Film buffs are in for a treat this Christmas as choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan's highly anticipated film "Tees Maar Khan", starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, hits the silver screen along with Ajay Devgn's animation film "Toonpur Ka Superhero" this Friday. Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya also returns with his new film "Isi Life Mein" with debutants Sandeepa Dhar and Akshay Oberoi. "Tees Maar Khan", produced by Twinkle Khanna, Shirish Kunder and Ronnie Screwvala with a budget of Rs.50 crore ($11 million), is a story about Tabrez Mirza Khan (Akshay) who steals, cons and cheats with such an audacity that none even gets the slightest hint about his deeds. His gang members include three others named Dollar, Soda and Burger. International antique smugglers Johri Brothers (Raghu Ram and Rajiv Laxman) ask Tabrez once to perform the biggest heist of his life. They ask him to steal antiques worth Rs.500 crore from a heavily guarded moving train. The film's music is already a rage, with Katrina making fans groove to her item song "Sheila Ki Jawani". The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Raghu Ram, Rajiv Laxman, Arya Babbar and Aman Verma. It also has special appearences by Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt. "Toonpur Ka Superhero", featuring Ajay Devgn and Kajol, would be India's first live action-animation film. It is produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Krishika Lulla and distributed by Eros International. Directed by Kireet Khurana, the film tells the story of film star Aditya (Ajay) who has all the success he ever dreamt of. He is married to Priya (Kajol) and has two kids Kabeer and Raima. He might be a superstar but his children want him to be hero in real life rather than in reel. Aditya gets one such opportunity when he finds himself in Toonpur, the land of his children's favourite cartoons, where he has to fight Toonasurs (demon toons) to save Devtoons (good toons). The film also stars Tanuja, Mukesh Tiwari, Sanjay Mishra and Delnaaz Paul. Khurana has won five National Awards for short animation films and has directed almost 400 commercials and "Toonpur Ka Superhero" is his first feature film. While Ajay and Kajol team up for this film after two years, it also reunited the mother-daughter duo of Kajol and Tanuja 18 years after "Bekhudi", which was the launch vehicle for Kajol in the film industry. After his last film "Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi", Sooraj Barjatya is returning with his new production venture "Isi Life Mein" with two newcomers Sandeepa and Akshay, who is actor Vivek Oberoi's cousin. Produced under Rajshri Productions and directed by Vidhi Kasliwal, Barjatya's niece, the story of the film revolves around the journey of a small town girl Rajnandini, who is not allowed to dream and lead a life according to her own wishes. Somehow she takes admission to a Mumbai college and meets Vivaan and his gang of friends, who make her believe that she has the right and the capability to accomplish her dreams. It's then that things start changing for her. Whether Christmas will set cash registers ringing for all three of these films is yet to be seen. |
Sunny Deol says I'm very scared of dad Dharmendra Posted: 19 Dec 2010 09:01 PM PST Mumbai, Dec 20 (IANS) Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and dad Dharmendra share a great camaraderie in upcoming entertainer "Yamla Pagla Deewana" but 54-year-old Sunny says in real life he's really scared of his father. "The characters that we play in this film are not actually how we are in real life. We would never behave like this with our father in real life. I'm shit scared of him. If he is sitting in one room, I'll run to the other. But when we are working, it's a completely different thing altogether because we are those characters," Sunny told IANS in an interview. He might be scared of Dharmendra, but that doesn't mean he's nervous about sharing screen space with him. "We all live together. So it suddenly doesn't strike me that he is a big actor, so I'm comfortable working with him. If it was some other actor whom I didn't know so well, I might be nervous, but not here," said Sunny. And even though he's been in the industry for almost three decades, the actor still values his father's inputs. "My dad's inputs have never had anything to do with a story, it's always been like don't do a film which is rubbish just for the sake of it. Only do a film if you like it and are sure of it. So, that way, he has always been guiding us, but he wants us to learn from our own mistakes and I think that's how it should be," he said. The three Deols had come together in "Apne" as well, but Sunny promises that "Yamla Pagla Deewana" will be different and more entertaining. " 'Apne' was an emotional film about family bonds where people were crying. So we had decided that the next film we do together will be a full-on entertainer," he said. The actor, who has given hits like "Damini", "Chaalbaaz" and "Gadar", is happy that their latest venture is creating just the right buzz before its release. "This is a film that we have been really working hard on and we had a tough time while getting it made. But when we saw the response of the audience once the trailers were out Nov 5, it was great. Looking at people's reaction it seems that the film is already a hit; so it's very scary, but at the same time we are loving the whole feel." But doesn't that put you under a lot of pressure? "Pressure is definitely there, but whatever we had to do we have already done; we can't change it now. So it's just waiting and watching now. We have looked into every detail. It's not just a film of gags, it's a story and I'm very positive and sure of the film," he replied. Elaborating on his role in the film, Sunny said: "I play a Sikh, who is a NRI, living in Vancouver with his wife, mother and two kids and is a recovery agent. One day he comes to know that his brother and father, who had got lost, are in Benares (Varanasi). The film is about this character's journey to Benares and the whirlpool of events that follow." Sunny hasn't done too many comedies, but he says he doesn't have to put in too much effort into them. But what he always found a little tough was dancing. "As an actor, you don't have to put effort into acting. You only have to put effort in something you don't believe in. I've only put effort in dances and songs because that didn't come very naturally to me." Tagged as an action star for a long time with films like "Arjun", "Ghayal" and "Ghatak", does he plan to return to action any time now? "I'm working on a few projects because I know that my fans love me in action roles and I have deprived them for a long time...So I'm going through a script...Will announce it this year itself," Sunny said. |
