Eva Longoria not adopting a baby Posted: 02 Dec 2010 03:03 AM PST Contrary to some media reports, actress Eva Longoria is not planning to adopt a child from Haiti, sources close to her say. Recent media reports said that the 35-year-old American actress had her heart set on adopting a child, but sources close to the "Desperate Housewives" star say otherwise, reports contactmusic.com. The actress recently filed for divorce from her husband Tony Parker. "She is not focusing on motherhood. Eva is spending time with her family, lawyers and her special-needs sister," said her close friend. "She's not in the emotional state to become a mother right now. She just filed for divorce," she added. |
'3 Idiots' virus wasen't inspired by Javed Akhtar: Boman Irani Posted: 02 Dec 2010 02:57 AM PST It needed a loo encounter with Boman Irani for poet Javed Akhtar to realise that Viru Sahasrabuddhe aka Virus, the eccentric and quirky professor in "3 Idiots" was not modeled on him. "I met Javed Akhtar in the loo during an awards function. He asked me whether I was imitating him in the movie and I said 'No'," Boman told reporters here. He was speaking during an interactive session conducted on the sidelines of the 41st International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Boman said Akhtar was under the impression that Virus, who terrifies his engineering students in the film, was a spoof on his oratorical style "Everybody thought that my character was inspired by Javed Akhtar's talking style in the movie, but it is not true," he further said, while speaking on the evolution of comedy in Hindi films. Instead, Boman said that Virus' lisp was in fact a hark back to the days when he was a shy child with an obvious lisp. "I had a problem with speaking right from the childhood. I used to lisp. When I was child, I never spoke. Teachers used to write remarks on my note book. My mom sent me to a trainer, I started talking and it gave me a confidence," he said. Revealing his personal story and his late debut as an actor, Boman said that he started off as a waiter at the Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai and then for a while did a stint shouldering his family business, adding that he was 40, when he was offered his first acting job in a Hindi film. "I have also done theatre in Mumbai," he said. |
Aishwarya Rai smoking was script's requirement: Co-Producer of Guzzarish Posted: 02 Dec 2010 02:50 AM PST The co-producer of "Guzaarish" has justified the controversial promotional posters of the film that show Aishwarya Rai smoking a cigarette, saying it is "a creative requirement of the script". A letter issued by UTV Software Communications Private Limited to the National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE), a tobacco vigilante organisation headquartered in Goa, has stated that Ash's smoking act on the posters was necessary. "The scene in which the character, played by Aishwarya Rai, is shown smoking was merely a creative requirement for the script," UTV Software communications limited has said in a letter to an anti-tobacco organization, quoting a spokesperson. Earlier, NOTE had demanded the 'smoking' posters be deleted from the promotional campaign. In a written complaint, the organisation's general secretary Shekhar Salkar had said that the display of the posters showing Aishwarya smoking could inspire her fans to take up the 'cancer-stick'. "The innumerable posters and banners of 'Guzaarish' displayed all over Mumbai shows Bollywood icon Aishwarya Rai smoking a cigarette. There would be thousands of other scenes which could be displayed to convey the storyline of the film, yet the producer has chosen this particular one, quiet oblivious to its after-effect," Salkar said, threatening the producer and actor of the film with a legal suit. In a written response to NOTE's caution, UTV has also said: "We understand that as a healthcare professional, it is your prerogative to oppose any activity that may promote smoking. However, whilst we appreciate your concern, we would also like to mention that the film `Guzaarish' is not about smoking and neither does it promote smoking in any manner whatsoever". Reacting to UTV's response, Salkar said: "I have seen the film myself. There is a single scene which shows smoking incident. But the poster of the film picks and chooses the same frame in their advertisement campaign. Actually this is clandestine advertisement of a tobacco product. "Where is the issue of showing smoking scene when the movies speaks of euthanasia," he added. NOTE, has in the past made actors Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi among Bollywood biggies either shell out fines for their violations or dragged them to court for directly or indirectly promoting tobacco on the screen and off it. |

'Don 2' shows changes in underworld Posted: 02 Dec 2010 02:37 AM PST Farhan Akhtar's "Don 2" will show how the underworld has flourished in the past four years, says actor Boman Irani, who plays an important role in the movie. " 'Don 2' shows what 'Don' is doing after four years. What he has become in four years. Vardhaan (the villain) is in jail," Boman told IANS. "Don 2", is a sequel to 2006 thriller "Don - The Chase Begins", which was a modern day adaptation of megastar Amitabh Bachchan starrer "Don" (1978). Boman maintains the action thriller has some jaw-dropping stunts. "It has some implausible action and stunts. Lets us see first how it turns out after editing. But the crew and the stunt coordinator (in Berlin) are doing some fantastic stuff," he said. Apart from "Don 2", the actor is also filming for director Priyadarshan's "Tezz". |

Posted: 02 Dec 2010 01:52 AM PST Kate Moss is adaptable at work but she can't handle interviews as she doesn't like being judged. "I just hate it. When I used to do interviews a long time ago, I used to get very ill just worrying about them before they came out. I just didn't like it," she said. The 36-year-old supermodel, who was discovered when she was just 14, insists she is not a diva when she is in front of the camera, reports femalefirst.co.uk. "I guess I am adaptable...I kind of go with whatever they (photographers) want. I don't see myself as one thing. You know, I turn up at work and they can kind of do what they want with me, really! It's not like there is one look that I specifically do - I have done a lot of different things," said Moss. |
