WikiLeaks: Sonia Gandhi’s confession about her parent’s disapproval of her marriage with Rajiv Posted: 18 Dec 2010 03:44 AM PST The US embassy cables have revealed a confession of Congress president Sonia Gandhi to the California governor's wife that Gandhi's parents were against her marriage with Rajiv Gandhi. Moreover in the year 2006, she also told Maria Shriver (wife of Arnold Schwarzenegger) that she would write a book some day, on why she did not take up the post of Prime Minister in the year 2006. According to the cables, Gandhi told how her own parents were against her marriage with Rajiv Gandhi. However Sonia had then stood for herself and had married Rajiv. Later in the year 1984 Rajiv Gandhi became the Prime Minister of India. Unfortunately he was assassinated in a suicide bomb attack in 1991. The cable provided by WikiLeaks on Sonia Gandhi was marked as 'confidential' and also mentioned how openly Gandhi spoke to Maria over the issue. The cable mentioned that, the leader who is “usually withdrawn and reserved in public … revealed a rare glimpse of herself”.
