X-37B unmanned space shuttle of US Air Force lands successfully Posted: 04 Dec 2010 06:05 AM PST Tweet A secret unmanned space shuttle X-37B of the US Air Force landed safely and successfully on Friday after a 220 day mission. The mission was an experimental test, which was launched from the Cape Canaveral Air Force station on April 22nd. This was the first space shuttle to return from space on its own. The success of the mission has opened doors for the manufacturer Boeing for more unmanned space shuttles in future. “We congratulate the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office and the 30th Space Wing at Vandenberg Air Force Base on the success of this mission,” said Paul Rusnock, Boeing vice president of Experimental Systems and program director for the X-37B. Paul also said that, they are looking forward to launch their second unmanned shuttle in 2011. The X-37B was manufactured for the sake of orbital space fight missions of the US Air Force. The X-37 project started off as a NASA project in 1999 and was later transferred to the Department of Defense of US in 2004. The show began with a Bollywood actor, Ranbir Kapoor inspired act, in which three male contestants made an appearance in a towel showing off their skin. Splitsvilla 4 is being shot in Dubai, with a total of 16 contestants, in which there are 3 boys and 13 girls. According to sources, this year each male contestant will mentor a group comprising 4 girls and the groups will compete with each other. Every week in the competition, a king will be chosen to be the king of the week. And the week's winner will get a power to eliminate one girl for that week. According to a report only 40,000 units of Windows Phone 7 were sold in U.S. on the day of launch. Director Manish Acharya dies in an accident Posted: 04 Dec 2010 03:06 AM PST Tweet Bollywood director, actor and writer Manish Acharya passed away in a deadly accident on Saturday. The impact of the accident was so strong that he died on the spot. It was not long that Manish had tweeted about his pending trip to Matheran. The director, actor and writer, has worked in many films like the 'Loins of Punjab', 'Luck by Chance' and 'Sita Sings The Blues'. Manish had studied MFA in Film Directing from the NYU Tisch School of Arts. He had acted in the film Luck by Chance by Zoya Akhtar and was also a narrator of the film Sita Sings The Blues. UTPU convocation to distribute 28 gold and silver medals Posted: 04 Dec 2010 01:14 AM PST Tweet The convocation of the Gautam Buddh Technical Education, which will be held on the 7th December 2010, will be awarding degrees to 30 PHD students. The academic council of the GBTU had taken the decision in a meeting held on Thursday. About 24 PHD students were given degrees last year. V K Singh, the pro VC of GBTU said that, this year about 40,000 students will be awarded their degrees which includes students from post graduate as well a under graduate courses. He also said that, 14 students will be awarded gold medals and 14 more will be awarded silver medals. According to the sources, students with 70% and above percentage will be awarded their degrees at the convocation ceremony and the rest of them will be distributed through college representatives. Speaking about the issue of closing down the women Pharmacy colleges, Singh said that the council has decided to shut the colleges and the students will be sent to another college in the same district. Indian Supreme Court orders to curb unnecessary arrests Posted: 04 Dec 2010 12:12 AM PST Tweet The Indian Supreme Court on Thursday ordered that arrests can be made only if it is essential. The Supreme Court took the decision after it found the increasing tendencies of the police to make arrests which has led to violation of human rights. The Supreme Court also revised the powers of the high court in terms of granting or rejecting a bail plea in order to reduce the number of arrests. According to the judgment, the accused will be asked to cooperate in the investigations, and in case if he does not, then he can be arrested. All the essential documents like passports, property papers, fixed deposit receipts, share certificates, which are essential in the particular case should be seized by the police. Added to that the accused must be instructed not to visit the residence of the witness or any other person concerned to the case, so that the accused does not try to tamper with the important evidence of the case. While the investigation is in process, the bank accounts of the accused must be frozen temporarily. And in case if the arrest of the accused becomes very essential then it is the responsibility of the police to record valid reasons for the arrest.
