The auction for the 4th edition of the Indian Premiere League (IPL) will be held on January 8th and 9th 2011. The links to watch the auction live will be posted here just before the auction begins. The aution will be telecasted live on Set Max TV Channel. This is the first time ever that the IPL auctions will be shown live on the television. The auction will have 350 players Click here to see the list of players being bid for over the two-day period and the ten teams will be the bidders. Apart from all the eight teams which had played in the previous edition of the IPL, there are two new teams – Pune and Kochi who will also bid for the players. 10 teams will be participating in the IPL 4 with 74 matches played between each other. Only 12 players were retained by their teams ahead of the auction, with three of the eight existing franchises – Punjab, Deccan Chargers and Kolkata – choosing to release all their players into the auction pool. |
Tata Venture MVP launched in Jaipur Posted: 06 Jan 2011 11:35 PM PST Vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors, is back with it's yet another pocket as well as 'Indian road friendly' Tata Venture MVP. The Venture MVP was launched in Jaipur on Thursday. The MVP was shown off at the 2010 Auto Expo and had attracted many prospective buyers. The Tata Venture can be used as either a Taxi or even as a family car as it can accommodate 8 people at a time. The vehicle has a 1.4 litre diesel engine, with a fuel efficiency of 15.42 KM per litre and features power steering, power windows, keyless entry, reverse parking aid and rear wipers. The MVP, in accordance to safety, features collapsible steering and side impact beams. With a fresh new exterior, the Venture MVP will be available for 4.05 to 5.07 lakhs ex showroom, with a two year and 75,000 km warranty. The Venture for now will be available only in the state of Rajasthan and will be available in other states in due course of time. |
Patna temperature dips further leading to flight delays due to fog Posted: 06 Jan 2011 11:09 PM PST The weather conditions in the Bihar state capital worsen as the fog in the city further reduced the temperature. Many flights from Patna Airport were cancelled due to the severe cold weather conditions. The city experienced a maximum temperature of 15.8C, which is nine degrees below the normal level. Two of the morning flights from Patna were cancelled. GoAir cancelled its flight on the Delhi-Patna-Delhi route while JetAirways cancelled the flight on the Calcutta-Patna-Calcutta route. According to A B Gupta, assistant meteorologist of Patna, such conditions may prevail in the next 48 hours. Due to the extreme weather, the streets in the city had a deserted look till late in the day time. The number of visitors in the Patna zoo also reduced from 5,000 to 2,000. As the temperature in the night reduced below normal levels, many of the people remained awake. However till Thursday no reports of death due to cold have been reported. |

Swami Nityananda blackmailed before the release of his scandalous video Posted: 06 Jan 2011 10:04 PM PST Hindu spiritual teacher Swami Nityananda was blackmailed before the news of his sex scandal had broken out. Last year a sex tape was released featuring the spiritual teacher and Tamil actress Ranjitha. According to reports by Telegraph, Nityananda had confesed during an interrogation session that he had paid 1.4 million pounds, after he was blackmailed to release the sex video. However an Indian newspaper had said that Swami was approached by a journalist last year who said that, he had the video and threatened to release it to the media. The journalist had demanded 3.5 million pounds. While investigations Nityananda told the investigators that after bargaining the amount was brought down to 1.4 million pounds. Swami also revealed that the amount was paid by one of his disciples. After the video was released last year on 2nd March on Tamil New Channel Sun News, Swami's followers had rioted outside his ashram in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Later He was arrested in the month of April. |
China to have Deep Space Monitoring network online in 2016 Posted: 06 Jan 2011 08:38 PM PST
To support future space missions,China is ready to put in place a deep space monitoring network by 2016, a senior scientist has said. According to Qian Weiping, chief designer of the Chang’e 2 mission’s tracking and control system, the network will consist of two monitoring stations in China, one in China’s northwestern region Kashgar, a second in northeastern region of Jiamusi, and a third in South America. Qian said that work is being done to upgrade or build monitoring stations in the three locations by equipping them with large-caliber antennas. Qian said that added that the upgrades in Kashgar and Jiamusi will be done in 2012 in order to provide monitoring support for China’s lunar orbiters, Chang’e 3 and Chang’e 4. To assist in the lunar orbiters return to earth, the monitoring station in South America will be completed in 2016. |
